I hope I am posting this in the correct area. Can a person rent points to stay at the Wilderness Lodge instead of the villas?? We have never stayed at the villas, and just love the Lodge. We are afraid that the atmosphere would be missing at the villas. If you can rent points for the Lodge, how do I find out how many? Any help or comments are appreciated.

DVC members cannot use points to stay in the resorts that are attached to a DVC resort. So, DVC members will not be able to use points to stay at Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk Inn or the Beach Club Resort. So, I guess that the answer to your question is no.. From what I understand, and I am not the best one to answer this part since I have never stayed anywhere except OKW since we became member 10 years ago, the Villas at Wilderness Lodge have the same feel as the main resort. They are connected and it is all pretty much the same complex. Staying in the Villas allows you to swim in the Lodge pool etc.

There is a DVC rental board and you may be able to find someone there to get you more information on renting the points from a Member if that's what you are hoping to do. The points per night vary greatly depending on what time of year you want to go and also if you are staying on a Friday or Saturday night or just during the week.

You cannot use points to stay at the regular Wilderness Lodge hotel rooms.

DVC points can be used to stay at most of the WDW hotels, except value resorts and any resort which also has DVC villas as part of them. So that includes Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Wilderness Lodge.

Swan and Dolphin are not Disney operated resorts. All Stars are value Resorts

Specifically, you can use points at:

Grand Floridian
Polynesian
Yacht Club
Contemporary
Animal Kingdomn
Fort Wilderness campground (Cabins only, not RV sites)
Caribbean Beach
Coronado Springs
Port Orleans

Hope this helps

Thats too bad they dont allow ressies to be made at resorts that also have DVC property on them, I can understand why though. I guess we will keep the ressie we have for the Lodge. Maybe next time we will give the villas a chance. this will be our childrens' first visit to WDW and we want to stay at the Lodge this time. That means I get to plan another trip! LOL Thank you again.

I would pick a WLV studio any day over a regular room in the main lodge. I like having the fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker, and toaster. And when you compare the one and two bedrooms, well, there is no comparison.

The villas lobby is beautiful. When you are there, take a walk over and take a look at it. Be sure to check out all the pictures of Walt Disney and his train (the one he had in his back yard). It's under glass on display at the villas.

The option to stay at Disney hotels on points is a way to let DVC members have some variety. (This was more important when there was only one Disney Vacation Club.) Using points to stay at the hotels is "expensive".....it costs considerably more points to stay in a hotel room versus the studio. In some instances, the point cost of a hotel room would get you a two-bedroom at a DVC resort. It isn't particularly practical to stay in the same resort but in a hotel room versus a studio so that may be one of the reasons DVC eliminates the option.

The Yacht Club is still offered so that's an easy comparison to see what you get DVC vs. resort. A pool view room during March (weekday) would cost 42 points. For 40 points, you can stay in a two-bedroom at the Beach Club Villas. Hands down, the 2 bedroom is a much more luxurious accomodation.
