I am traveling to Disney World Alone, and I can't wait!

I'm taking my first solo trip soon, staying at Coronado Springs. I am going to use MDE and Disney transportation. Usually we rent a car when the whole family goes. I am starting to consider booking a bounceback trip in December when I am there (with DH if he wants to go, solo if not)!

I would feel too guilty spending the cash on a deluxe for a trip by myself.

Have fun at Coronado Springs. The resort is absolutely beautiful. ::yes::::yes::

I am going on my 4th solo trip in a few weeks.

I travel solo because I can't ever find anyone who can take the time off work or afford to come.

So I decided a solo trip to WDW is better than no trip to WDW :goodvibes

I have also done Disneyland solo 4 times.

As for resorts, I have stayed at AoA (Little Mermaid room), POR, POFQ and soon to be at the Beach Club.

I'm leaving for my second solo trip next week! :thumbsup2

I took myself for my birthday two years ago for Halloween/F&W and had an AMAZING time! I got to do all of the things my sister (my usual WDW companion) makes me skip, and I actually took the time to stop and smell the roses, so to speak, since usually I'm a ride commando hahaha

I know I've said this in other solo threads, but one thing that kind of surprised me was that I enjoyed my ADR TS meals MUCH more than grabbing food from the CS locations. If you're going during a busy time of year, finding a table at some of those places by yourself juggling a tray full of food is absolutely no fun!

Last time I stayed at YC, partly because it was on my resort bucket list, and partly because it has such easy access to Epcot for F&W. I loved it...it was beautiful and quiet, and the staff was the best I've experienced at a Disney hotel. This time I'm trying out WL :) Since I'm a very young-looking small woman, I just don't feel comfortable staying by myself at a moderate with the outside door access. I know WDW is probably the safest place to stay by yourself, but you never know. But that's just me, I'm paranoid ;)

OP, enjoy your trip! I'm telling you, you are going to have the best time!

Most of my trips are solo, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I get to do exactly what I want and it seems like it's much easier for us solos to make last minute FP+ changes. I do go with others now and then, but I enjoy my solo time more.

I stay mostly deluxe or DVC, because as a solo I usually spend as much time at the resort as in the parks. But I've stayed at all different resort levels as a solo and never felt unsafe at any of them.

I have never travelled completely alone, but two years ago I accompanied one of my daughters who went to visit some of the friends she made while on the Disney College Program. During that trip my daughter came with me for a rope drop and at some point in the morning went off to meet friends.

That was a great trip. It was a lot of fun not having to ask anyone what they wanted to do next and riding Star Tours a couple of times in one day just to see what different scenes I would get. I also got to see some of the movies and other entertainment at Epcot that nobody else in the family wants to see.

One time I went to the bus stop at the resort and decided that I would just get on the next bus to determine where I would spend the evening.

I will be in WDW alone next week for a few days and I have no idea how it will work out. I love WDW, but my memories and the nostalgia are/is all tied to others. Guess I will find out.

I was the same way, but I had an EXCELLENT time on my first solo trip. I was actually quite surprised how much fun I had on my own. :thumbsup2

The first time I told my grandson that I was going on a Disney vacation by myself, he asked me if I would be bored. It appears that there are a lot of people out there that wouldn't think of vacationing alone. However, from the responses here in this thread, it also appears that there are a lot of solo travelers too.

Yes, a WDW vacation alone, is a whole lot better than No WDW Vacation at all.

I love reading all these replies.

Hey Everyone –

I have been stalking DIS for years. But, this thread prompted me to add my two cents. I have been a Disney person all my life. First went to Disneyland in 1955 and have been 4 times since. I have been to WDW well over 25 times. The first time was in 1972. When my son was four we started going each year, sometimes twice a year.

Steve, my son, became even more Disney oriented than I was. He worked as an intern in the college program. That was when I made my first solo trip and loved it. Since then I have done about 8 solos. Now, unless I can go with Steve, I definitely prefer solo trips.

My next trip is the second week of May. I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer so I am pretty sure this will be my last time at WDW. I am splurging by staying at the Contemporary, with a Magic Kingdom view. This is where I stayed on my first solo trip when Steve was in the college program. Great memories.

Seeing Disney solo is an experience everyone should try. Go at the pace that is comfortable for you. You will notice things you never saw before. It’s a whole new world (pardon the pun).

Can’t wait – 19 days. Hopefully many pictures, Memory Maker, and lots more memories.

Hope all of you who have trips planned have the time of your life.

Love and Disney magic,
Chris :cool1:

I've traveled solo to WDW twice a year for 5 days for the past 4 years. I love my solo trips. I enjoy them more than when I travel with my family to Disney nowadays - I've got teens and they just don't appreciate Disney much right now.

I haven't been able to go solo yet this year. I've been missing it immensely. I call these trips Mom's Mental Health Trip.

For those who travel solo...what are your favorite resorts to stay at?

The Poly was my favorite place to stay solo, but that was really all because of the tranquility (and one particular hammock) of Tahiti beach, which is no longer there because of the DVC expansion. And I never got to say goodbye...:(

My next favorites are YC and Boardwalk for their DHS/Epcot proximity.

Coronado was the perfect mod for a solo trip, though. I actually liked it better than some of the deluxes. And Pop is great, too, of course, but after my first two solo trips I found myself spending a lot more time relaxing at the resort, so I appreciated having more space and a balcony.

I totally agree with this, and it surprised me, too.

I hope you have a truly amazing trip.

I am traveling to Disney World Alone and I can't wait. I will be there in August, and I am staying at Pop Century. My last trip to Disney World was last April. I traveled with 3 other people, and we stayed off site. We also did a side trip to Universal. It's not that I didn't have fun, but it was lacking in many ways. I missed staying onsite. I missed stopping at all the photopass photographers, and smiling for pictures in front of all my favorite places. I missed being able to take as many pictures of everything in the park, from the Mickey Floral, to the sign above the tunnel, to the clock on Main Street. I missed the afternoon parade. The others didn't want to see it. I didn't even get to see Wishes. When you travel alone, you can do what you want, when you want. I am a big fan of Disneyland, and I go there a lot by myself. I always have a marvelous time, and I do meet up with friends from time to time, but mostly I'm my own boss. I promised myself that I would get back to Disney World, and the next time that I went, it would be on my terms. I understand that a lot isn't perfect right now. Fantasyland still isn't totally done. Fastpass plus is still working out the kinks. The Hub is being redesigned. However, there is a new afternoon parade, and I am hoping to be able to eat at Be Our Guest. I can't wait. How about you? Have you ever traveled alone? Would you, or would you not? Perhaps you have some tips for me. This will actually be my first trip to WDW alone. I figured out the logistics of traveling to Disneyland by myself, happily and safely. Now I get to test the waters at Disney World too.
I completely understand how you feel! I'm planning a trip to WDW in the fall and I'll probably go alone. I got into arguments with my companions on my last two trips and I just don't want anyone spoiling my fun this time. So I say enjoy yourself and have the vacation that YOU want to have!

Thank you Norybelle. I promise you it will be a truly magical vacation.

I have never been solo, but it is definitely a dream of mine and a huge priority for when I'm an empty-nester. I told DD (14) that I would go alone when she grew up and moved away and she said NO WAY, I will always be going with you! :) Not that I don't want her with me because she is my very best Disney companion!! Something about the solo trip holds a mystique that I must experience.

Chrism44, hope your trip is the most amazing ever. :thumbsup2

Now my vacation is just 56 days away, so I figured that I could use this thread to post about all my planning.

Today is the first time that I had any kind of trouble with MDE. It is not showing my plans for the Friday of my trip. All of the other days are there. I won't get too bummed out. I figure nothing is perfect, and after all, I am 56 days out.

I did make all of my fastpasses a few days ago, when my time finally arrived. I have a five day parkhopper with 4 days out of five starting out in the Magic Kingdom. The other day, I will start out at Animal Kingdom. Of course one of my fastpasses is for the safari. I have that scheduled after my Rainforest Breakfast. I like to eat breakfast there. I figure that after I do everything that I want to do at Animal Kingdom, I can visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge, for some late lunch, or early dinner, and then I will spend my evening in the Magic Kingdom. I really want to see the Electrical Parade and maybe wishes on the night before I check out of Pop Century.

I was the exact same way when I took my very first solo trip. And that was 6 years ago!!!! DH has no problem with my going alone. Actually I do him a favor...he's not so much the Disney person. And I married him??????

Seriously, you'll see. It's so nice to do what you want to do when you want to do it. And dining...I love eating in places normally I'd wouldn't because "someone doesn't like something". :rotfl: Seriously...relax and enjoy all the Magic!!

My days at Disney World are a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and a Saturday. I am visiting in the middle of August. My Wednesday was going to be a late arrival at DHS. No fastpasses chosen ahead of time, I was using those for my morning at the MK. I have a 1:30 lunch ADR at MK, and then I figured that I would head over to DHS. Now that all the Frozen stuff has been announced, I am wondering about changing my plans for that day. My main objective when I go to DHS, is to see Fantasmic. I guess I'll keep my eyes and ears open, and see what shakes out.

My vacation is still 6 more weeks away. It feels like I have been waiting forever.

I've been to disney alone 8 times so far with a 9th in the planning stages.

I adore going solo. I like it much better than when I go with my family and have to listen to them gripe about the heat and crowds. I love doing what I want when I want. If I want ice cream for breakfast, then I have it. LOL

One trip I rode the HM 7 times in a row. That was fun.

I haven't gone solo since the new FP+ yet so I'm not sure if that will change my trips any but I usually go to the single rider lines when they are available.

I also love to meet the characters. They spend as much time with you as a solo as they will with other families.
On my last trip my family members didn't want to meet characters so I was able to get a FP+ meet and greet alone with the Frozen sisters and Aurora was the visiting princess. I chatted with the Frozen sisters about sisters (I have 3) and I asked Aurora if she knew of any laundry fairies. But she said No she only knew about 3 good fairies but they took care of laundry too. LOL

I still make ADR's at TS restaurants but there are some that you can eat at the bar if you'd rather do that.

I'm always careful - I keep an eye open around me to know whats going on especially late at night when I'm going back to the resort after evening magic hours.

You'll have a great time! :thumbsup2 I was looking through this thread and saw I'd responded earlier in April. I guess I just love my solo so much I had to respond twice. :rotfl:
