I am traveling to Disney World Alone, and I can't wait!

I love going to WDW with my DH and DD but I know I would sooo love a solo trip! I have no qualms about traveling alone. You can go where you want when you want... Eat what you want... Have a magical time!

I've been to WDW on 2 solo trips so far & am currently planning my next one. :cool1: There's nothing like it, really. I do enjoy going w/friends & family but I really love the freedom & randomness a solo trip offers. Don't get me wrong..I still love to plan my trips, lol! Even if I don't stick to the plan, to me it's a big part of the fun & excitement of going to WDW for sure!

Have great trip!! :thumbsup2

In the planning stages of doing a first solo trip and first trip since 1997.

I'm hoping for FD this fall and I will go then. If not, then maybe next spring sometime. Still not sure when exactly though.

You are going to have an AMAZING time!!! My solo trip ended three and a half weeks ago and I'm trying not to be depressed. LOL.

All the reasons you mentioned are the reasons why I love going alone. I don't know that I will *always* want to go alone, but it was my second solo trip in a row and it is an absolute blast being able to do what you want, when you want!! I'm very excited for you!!!! :goodvibes

My trip report is in my signature if you're interested!

I've been solo twice and LOVED it both times. I really enjoyed just being able to do whatever I wanted and going at my own pace without feeling the need to meet anyone else's expectations. When I'm with other people I want so much for THEM to have a great time because I'm just happy BEING in Disney...but it was a blast just being able to do whatever I wanted for a change.

I hope you have an excellent time!

I think this sounds really fun! I hope you have a great time, and I'd love to try it someday, too!

I Visited Disney World last year with my friend Annette. We traveled together from Chicago, because we both wanted to visit Universal and see all the Harry Potter stuff. Annette also wanted to visit Magic Kingdom and we spent a day at Epcot during the Flower and Garden Show. Annette and I have tentative plans to visit Disney World and Universal again in 2015. Surely by next year at this time, more stuff will be complete. Harry Potter for sure. The dwarf coaster for sure. Perhaps even the Hub's new design will be completed.

I didn't want my next trip to WDW to leave me feeling like my last trip did. So I planned this one. Just for me. I originally had planned two Disneyland trips this year. I am going there in May, and I had planned to return in November, just as the place is decorated for Christmas.

Well I cancelled that November trip, and scheduled my August WDW trip instead.

I am excited for both my trips. Disneyland in May, and Disney World in August. My husband encourages me to go. He knows how much I enjoy myself. I have always been a loner, and I quite frankly don't move fast enough for some people. They always leave me behind, as they rush for rides, and I have stopped to take a picture, or notice something magical.

Just saw this thread and had to add my two cents! :rotfl: I take a solo trip every year. Began oh, maybe 6 years ago when DH couldn't make the trip. I asked a friend and she said yes; then had to cancel. DH talked me into going it alone and that was it! I was hooked! I LOVE GOING ALONE! Don't get me wrong; when DH is with me we have a fantastic time. But there's just something special about my solo trips. I always find special things to do that makes each trip different. I think having the freedom do nothing at all if I want is wonderful. I now have "pool days" and don't even look at the time. When I've had enough, I go to the room. No plans, no rushing, no worries!!

Next trip...October 1 - 8 for the Food and Wine Festival!! :thumbsup2

Solo trips are THE BEST...I've been on nine of them!

I recommend making a few ADRs...just load up some reading material on your phone, sit back in the air conditioning, and enjoy being served in a nice restaurant, able to linger as long or eat as quickly as you feel like.

I've written TRs for two, the links are in my signature if you're interested.

Have an amazing trip!

I'm taking my first solo trip soon, staying at Coronado Springs. I am going to use MDE and Disney transportation. Usually we rent a car when the whole family goes. I am starting to consider booking a bounceback trip in December when I am there (with DH if he wants to go, solo if not)!

I would feel too guilty spending the cash on a deluxe for a trip by myself.

For those who travel solo...what are your favorite resorts to stay at?

I usually stay at The Boardwalk. I love being close to EPCOT and The Studios. Plus there's several places to eat in the area between what's on The Boardwalk and then over at The Beach and Yacht Club.

I am staying at Pop Century for the 2nd time. I chose that resort strictly because of the price. Having stayed there before, I know I will be comfortable there, and be able to get around fairly easy. Also it is a neighbor to Wyndham's Bonnet Creek, where I will spend my last two nights. Those two days are strictly for relaxing. No parks for me the last two days before I head back home.

I have made a few ADR's. One of them a character meal at Park Fare for a late breakfast. Then I always like eating a breakfast at RainForest Cafe when I am at Animal Kingdom. The other one is a Lunch at the Beach Club on my way from Magic Kingdom to DHS for Fantasmic. I haven't seen that since 2009.

I purchased a package with a Free Memory Maker, so I am looking forward to being in a lot of pictures. Also I am wondering, but not obsessing over whether I will like or dislike this whole new Fastpass Plus, Magic Band transition that is going on at WDW.

You just gave me a wonderful idea. I have some ADR's and just changed one from a lunch to a breakfast at the Magic Kingdom! :thumbsup2

Well I do know that if you want to apply any discounts (TIW, DVC, AP, etc.) you have to carry that/those cards with you. I called MS the other day and asked all sorts of questions. ;)

For those who travel solo...what are your favorite resorts to stay at?
Both of my solo trips have been at Pop Century.

The price is a big factor...if money was no object that I would stay in a studio at AKV in a savannah view room...can you tell I have thought about this? I would love having a little kitchenette and being able to sit out on the balcony watching the animals.

Other reasons I choose Pop Century are that I like the resort and the little lake there...very pleasant to walk around at night or park myself on a bench by the water and call my boyfriend. And transportation is the other one. I always use Disney transportation and the buses from Pop Century are the best (AoA was pretty good as well...with the added bonus of COVERED queues for the buses). I prefer the separate lines for each park...feels much more orderly. I only had a handful of bad experiences at other resorts with people mobbing the bus when it arrived...but that was enough for me to say that I much prefer the values in this respect.

I find the rooms at a value are plenty big especially when it's just one person. There's lots of room to spread out...but I will honestly admit that I am the sort of person who usually just sleeps, bathes, and dresses in the room. IF money were no object and I could stay in my dream room at AKV...then I would definitely lounge in the room from time to time...but it's not the reason I go to Disney and it's not something I even feel like I am missing out on by staying in a value as I can putter around the resort in the evening.

Pop Century has become a favorite of mine for the above reasons. I would also like to stay at Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Yacht club...as I think being able to walk to two parks would be a BIG plus...especially solo.

For my first solo trip, I stayed at Pop. Mostly for the reasons listed above. For my second solo trip (9 days!!) I'm staying at Caribbean Beach, because by some strange miracle, it was cheaper than the All Stars (only by a few bucks, but still) I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about the transportation at CBR, so we'll see how it goes. I'll have a car anyway since I'll be driving there, so if all else fails, there's that. I can't wait!

I've never been to WDW solo, but I just did a solo Disneyland trip in February. It was incredible. I took the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour, which is something I would never be able to do with my kids in tow. I really hope to do a solo WDW trip some day!

I enjoy these solo threads and love my solo trips. I have been on 3 of them. If everything goes well with my knee rehab I will be going the first week of December and staying at AS Sports. I love going solo and having the ability to do what I want when I want. I can visit a park and stay as long as I want, perhaps all day. I can hop a boat or monorail to go have a drink at whatever resort I choose. For some reason I always end up at the POLY and the Boardwalk at the ESPN Club. I love my solo trips:cool1::cool1:
