I am such a geek

I was just away on a business trip and my colleagues and I had room service during meetings several times, so I ended up with a bunch of those little jars of ketchup, mustard, mayo, grape jelly and honey. I saved them and brought them home in my suitcase intending to put them in my Owner's Locker.

Anyone else get similarly geeked over something silly like that for WDW?

Well... not so much me, but DW has salt packs everywhere.... purse, car, work. Salt is very important to her eating happiness. And somehow she has low BP.

Thats too funny. I travel a bunch and bring home the little soaps. They look nice in a decorative bowl in the bathroom for guests to use if they don't want to use the liquid soap or if a friend stays over and you want to give them a hotel spa special treatment feeling.

I travel a lot for business and always bring home the soaps, conditioners, etc... DW uses some herself if she likes the brand, or puts them into basket for guests that stay with us. A couple of years back one of the chains I stayed in had small bath & body works soaps and lotions and DW went nuts when they came home with me. I don't think that makes you a geek at all - just frugal. You pay for those things in your bill (whether it's soaps or ketchups) - why not take them home? Just because you might not need them at that location, you certainly might need them somewhere else...

I use to always take the hand creams out of the hotels when I travels in the cooler months. After 9/11 and the airport crack down on liquids I went through my computer bag to get rid of the liquids and found 39 small hotel hand creams all used once. Maybe taking them was not a great idea but my arms are nice and built up from lifting may bag with all the extra stuff.

DH and I were in Hawaii last week. We ate a few times at the pool bar. The sandwiches were served in a basket with several packets of Mayo there to add. They all came home with me for our first trip "Home".
I guess I am a geek too. (But I already knew that. )

Geek here, too! I save the little jars of jelly, ketchup, syrup etc. My nieces (5 & 7) think it's really cool when they get a "special" little jar at breakfast or lunch that's just for them. I also save packets of condiments and shove them in a Ziploc for our DVC trips. We only eat a few light meals in the villa kitchen, and the little packets are just right. I hate having to dump nearly a whole bottle of something when we leave. My DH kids me about this - but he uses them.

I haven't been able to save the H2O bath products - I like them and I end up using them! (This is hard on a saver-geek.) But I always save the Aveda products when we stay in a W hotel. I love that stuff (I use the shampoo at home), and W's housekeeping is really good about replacing them every day. I love coming home with an assorted bunch of it.

Im a geek too!

I have slowed down, because all those little bottles were really starting to pile up!

Last year I put a bunch in a Christmas Basket and put it in the Ladies locker room at work with FREE sign It went pretty quick!

Love the H2O stuff! DCL gives you the larger size and we actually use it at home.

I keep a Ziploc in my ownerslocker with all my kitchen items, such as salt, little mayo, ketchup jars, etc. Love my locker, it has everything!

I save all extras, whether from hotels or fast food stops. Some of the items go into the travel tote for future trips; some I add to the Mission box along with recycled clothes, towels, blankets, etc. The coffee packets, soaps and shampoos make welcome gifts at the Mission.

I don't usually save the ketchup because I can usually find that somewhere. What I do save and take on vacation is the condiments from Chinese food. I'm addicted to hot mustard and put it on everything, my ds15 loves the duck sauce and and my dh loves soy sauce. We always ask for extra when we orer food. We do the same thing with hot sauce when the kids go to Taco Bell.

And now I am craving Chinese...

Haha! I used to take EVERYTHING that was allowed to be taken - shower caps, sewing kits, toiletries, etc. even though I never really liked the scents. I would give them to my sister who always was really happy to have them (since she barely ever traveled). One day I was at her house and opened her bathroom closet door. The shelves were FULL of those toiletries and they were all covered with dust After that, I decided to take only what I liked and was willing to use myself.

Like permavac, I found myself with a huge stockpile of tiny, dusty bottles and said enough is enough! I got rid of a lot of lotion than had gone over to the dark side, kept only the stuff I was SURE I would use, and donated the rest. Just recently I noticed the untouched basket of the stuff I was SURE I would use...any guesses as to whether or not I've used it?

Guilty too I have only taken one set of toiletries in a years worth of travel - I just couldn't resist the Bath & Bodyworks shampoo and conditioner from a hotel last December. There it sits, unused, in my own closet I just like my normal brand too much to use anything else, so it looks like it will get donated during our fall trip to Salvation Army and I promise to try and not to be tempted again...

I'm guilty too of bring home all of the extras but not for my own personal use.

The small bottles of ketchup, jelly, and other condiments I put in the box for our local food pantry as these generally are not items that they receive during regular donations.

The hard soaps go into the box for Global Ministries Health outreach that my opthamologist and best friend participate in each summer along with any used eyeglasses, new toothbrushes, dental floss from my dentist, and the small type of kids meal toys for distribution during their two week clinics to D.Republic, Haiti, etc. They cannot take any liquid products like soaps or toothpaste for distribution because of customs so:

Liquid soaps, bath gel, lotions, shower caps, etc. go into the box for our local women's prison as they are required to purchase the regular size bottles. With typical wage of .35 to .45 per hour, these types of donations are greatly appreciated.

So in addition to earning my ears here,maybe I'll qualify as a Princess of Donations instead of a Geek.
