Okay, we are taking a trip to the world in June for my DS's (10) birthday. I called WD today to verify some trip stuff and to clear up some questions. While I was on the phone, I was verifying some reservations that we had made. I asked the CM to verify our family magic tour...which we had already paid for. When the CM went in to verify our tour, it was on the wrong day! She had us down for June 9th, and I swear up and down that we made our res. for the 11th...that's his birthday for goodness sake! Why would I make the res. for a different day other than his birthday?:confused3

Anyway, I asked her to change our reservation...and you'll never guess...the 11th is booked. :sad2: This was supposed to be a surprise for him. I just had her credit me back my money. I don't want to do it on another day, we have our iteneraries set already. We have dining set up...:scared1:

My question is this. He chose to be at MK for his birthday. What other kinds of things could we do to make this day fun for him? Something great! Please help....:sad1:

Oh, that IS sad. I am sorry.

We typically just do Chef Mickey for birthdays OR we let them use the $$ we would have spent at Chef Mickey's for something else....typically for my boys this means the Lego store at Downtown Disney. Now that they are older, they would rather have a new lego set for the $100 we would have spent at the eating place.

What a bummer!

Could you take him to get his hair colored at the Barber Shop? Of course he can get a birthday button at Town Hall. I'm sure you will get some good suggestions..it's WDW afterall!

Are there other siblings? Can he be "in charge" of everything done for the day? Or, if siblings, every other thing? Did he have a say in the food choices?

One sort of silly thing that I'll go ahead and throw out anyways, is that for one of my birthdays around your DS' age my dad took me out for a huge ice cream sundae for LUNCH and I thought that was the coolest thing ever...I loved ice cream (still do) and being able to go right to dessert was great!

Remember, too, that just being at Disney in the first place makes it a great birthday! (Although I understand your disappointment when you had the perfect plan.)

I would keep calling back, I'm so compulsive I would probably do it twice a day! Call every day, even up to the day of, you never know who will cancel! pixiedust: for you!

I know it's a bummer, but I know you'll come up with something. I will say that at age 7, DD really felt too old for most of the Family Magic Tour.

So let's see......
Haircut/decoration at the barber shop
Birthday button, or make a tshirt at home for him to wear
Let him choose most or all of what you do that day
Have him meet favorite characters and get pictures. Tell them it's his birthday and you *might* get some special pics or signatures.
Have Mickey Bars for breakfast
Do a character meal he likes
Order a birthday cake for your room or at a TS meal
Let him choose a birthday present from the stores

Whatever you choose, I'm sure it'll be a great birthday. :)

Thanks so much to everyone! I know I'm bummed for nothing...he didn't even know about it. He will be totally happy with just being at the MK. I am bummed for me I guess! I wanted it to be extra special. But, how many kiddos get to go to DW for their birthdays? Thanks for the ideas!

Typhoon Lagoon has surfing lessons in the mornings, you do need resies. I think it was about a hundred bucks. I might surprise my DS 12 with it when we head down in May. Good Luck! Nettii:goodvibes

Would you consider another tour? My ds 11 would love to do the train tour at MK. I think you have to be at least 10 to do this tour, so that would make it really special for him to do since he is exactly old enough.

When we had ds at MK for a birthday, he wore the pin, and we ran into PUSH the trashcan in Tomorrowland. PUSH sang happy birthday to him and ended with a big finish spin...ds son loved it! When we had another ds at MK for his birthday, he was asked to " drive" the jungle cruise boat...he was 7 so he really thought he was driving that boat and he was so tickled LOL Anyway, just wanted to encourage you that magic has a way of just happening at Disney and especially when they are wearing those birthday buttons. Hope your son is sprinkled with pixie dust!
