we booked the 5+2 dreammaker at pop century w/an extra room (connecting requested) for 8 days/7 nights for just under $2,000... now i see the swan/dolphin discount code for dis'ers and am sooooo tempted to switch to one room at the swan and buy uph's when we check in (priced w/in a hundred bucks)... what does everyone think? i am sooo undecided but after having changed our reservation 3 or 4 times already, i'm afraid to even mention it to dh...

so, swan/dolphin lovers, tell me... what should i do?!

argh! i'm agonizing!pirate:

How many people are you talking about going from two rooms to the one? While S/D are in a great location, it might be too cramped in the one room depending on how many people.

BTW - I'm a Gigi too! :teeth:

there are only four of us... but two double beds is just not enough (dh is 6'4" and has to sleep diagonally on a double bed and i cannot share w/ds7 and dd9), so we went w/connecting rooms, the major perk being two tvs and two bathrooms... am i willing to/is it worth it to give that up for a deluxe swan/dolphin room (which will have two queens, right? plus possibly a daybed?)

i'm guessing that the pool at the swan/dolphin would be superior to pop century's pool (my kids are major pool fans!)? although we're not typically "amenity" people, the lure of a deluxe is too hard to ignore! LOL!

but on the flipside, we are more "food court" people than sit-down people, so that tilts us toward the value... and i need laundry facilities (we're light packers, i enjoy the escape to the laundry room, preferably w/something from the bar in my hand!) which the values offer (do the deluxes have laundry rooms or just "send out" laundry?)

oh, what to do, what to do, what to do?!

We returned in June from a two week stay at the Swan. We were travelling with my SIL and BIL and they stayed at POP. They were very happy there and we were very happy at the Swan. There is a food court type of restaurant at the Dolphin, that we used on many occasions and the pool did seem nicer, but a pool is a pool to some people. If it were me, I would move to the Swan or the Dolphin. I can not speak for the sleeping situation for you though, we had a king room with a pull-out sofa bed for DD (2). So, this room worked great for us. If you decide to change, you will LOVE the location and the heavenly beds. There are many dining opportunities within a 5 minute walk and the rooms all have new heavenly beds! Good luck and keep us posted on your decision.

I believe that Dolphin has a self-serve guest laundry room. I think Swan guests share the Dolphin laundry room. We stayed at the SWAN and there would not have been room for a roll-away bed in our room. I seem to recall reading that you can get roll-aways at the Dolphin. I think the beds are smaller at the Dolphin - maybe that's why there is more room? I'm sure someone else can answer.

We loved staying at the Swan. The grotto pool is really nice. What I liked best was the location. We walked to Epcot, and took the boat to MGM. Since we liked ending up our days at Epcot, it was really nice to just walk back to the hotel and not have to deal with any sort of transportation. A very peaceful end to the day!

There is self-service laundry at the Dolphin and the Swan does share the facilities. IMO, the facilities were small for two large hotels. When we did laundry, we did have to wait for a short period of time, but it is not far from the pool, so it wasn't a big deal.

absolutely move.....S/D such a better area to be in. walking to Epcot & boating to MGM is worth it. You can eat at ESPN on boardwalk.

rooms are nice size. We stated at Dolphin and found room to be superior to any Disney resorts. Room size great. Pools are better also.

in my opinion, make the change you will not be disappointed

As Minnie G said, there are 2 Queen beds in the standard room at the Swan. My in-laws had a rollaway last summer. It was a little cramped, but it fit. The Swan also has a king studio suite that is a little roomier, but we fit in the Swan standard fine with 4 of us, although we are a little smaller. One nice thing about the Standard room is that it has two sink/vanity areas--one in the bathroom and one just outside it.

You also have Heavenly beds at the Swan, and they are great. We loved the location, Tubbi's (which is really close to the Swan) and the Dolphin Fountain.

The Swan is literally next door to the boardwalk, so it was easy to walk over to the Spoodles window for pizza or just to grab a cheap hotdog from a vendor.

We love being able to walk to Epcot and MGM. Bus service to MK and AK is great too. The Swan is the first stop on the bus route, and everytime we got on last week it just went to the Dolphin and then headed to the parks. I think one morning we took the bus to MK and it only took 15 minutes.

for your input...

i had a nice long chat w/thomas at the swan last night... believe it or not, he talked me out of staying there (but he did not know that! LOL!)

between the extra $25 for a rollaway (plus the space it takes up), plus the extra $10 resort fee (?), and $20 for the fridge (fridge is only $10 at value), even w/the great rate of $139/night, it priced itself right out of our range... for seven nights, that's more than an additional $300 difference which i think we could put to better use (mickey's backyard bbq, renting mouse boats, etc)... i guess it truly was too good to be true... but it was nice to dream!

thanks again everyone for helping me work thru this! i appreciate all the input! :)
