I am so upset.

Oh please.

I'm so tired of this line of thought and making people feel bad in this way.

The OP never acted ungrateful and it's perfectly fine that she got upset that all of her planning got a bit messed up because of last-minute changes.

This is a Disneyworld planning board. Not the CleanWaterBoards or the WorldPeaceBoards.

She got a little bit more than upset, IMO. I think the PP's post in very relevant, and not made to have anyone feel guilty. It's called 'perspective'. We all need a reality check once in a while, don't we? Considering the USA's Thanksgiving holiday is coming up, it's good to be reminded of what we should be thankful. I work with special needs kids from struggling families - they would love to have the chance to go to WDW but they can't afford it, or their families are too messed up to function enough to go, etc. I think of that every time I am lucky enough to be able to go to WDW. I always wish I could scoop up some of these kids and take them with me. We'd have a blast, even if Disney changed the hours of operation on us pixiedust:

People plan these trips so far in advance then to just be slapped in the face with something new right before your trip sucks when you're dropping thousands on a vacation.

But people plan vacations all over the world and something unexpected can come up. But with your trip, you will still be at Disney World, you will still be able to do what you've planned to do.

But - you've planned it in your mind up to this point. You've imagined all kinds of wonderful things happening. Take a step back and now see what will happen. And - who knows? - there could be a magical moment that you haven't even thought about.

My example? My daughter-in-law wanted to go into Chefs de France and take a picture of a "true" French chef in a chef's hat because her cousin had just started chef's school. We rolled our eyes but our son said to take their daughter "up there" and ask. So she did. We waited outside. For a half hour. And then we needed to see what was going on. Turns out, the daughter-in-law got her photo and my granddaughter was now a "server" and giving water out to the patrons in the restaurant. With her very own chef's hat.

The special moments aren't the ones you plan for - they are the ones that just happen.

Lol get over it op. I would hate to think how you would react if something bad actually happened. You'll still have a good vacation now stop acting like a child.

Nope, no one needs nor wants your version of a reality check on the DISboards. I suspect many people on here might get upset about something that might seem trivial because it relates to vacation planning, a trivial topic at its core, AND also be balancing their own very serious issues in real life. You have no idea what people are facing in real life or what they do in real life.

If someone is upset about something related to Disneyworld vacation planning, I find it RUDE to throw it back in their face that there are starving children in the world, as if we aren't all aware of that.

Thanks Schmeck. The upcoming holiday was what really sparked my comment. I was not trying to make anyone feel guilty but these boards have become a moan and groan board, which isn't helpful to anyone. I've been on these boards for years and have been going to WDW for over 25 years. Recently, the boards have been so full of negativity when we should all be happy that we can and do go to WDW. Yes, things are happening (e.g.., FP+, closing down rides and shows, etc.) that many don't like, but that doesn't mean everyone has to be so negative all the time.

Right. Because it's not negative to throw the fact that there is suffering in the world back in someone's face when they are upset that their Disneyworld plans got messed up.

Since when did you become the DIS Board cop? If the OP has a right to say how she feels, I have the right to say how I feel. I haven't been mean about it; someone else brought up the people who died on their way to WDW - is that any different from me trying to put things in perspective so that maybe the OP and others realize that being able to even go to WDW is great? I don't see you badmouthing that person.

I'm so grateful there are people here who have seen the purpose of my post and others in the same vibe. I'm sorry you find it rude of me to bring up that point, but I still feel my point has value. We should be grateful for what we have, and if it makes someone upset to have hours changed at WDW, perhaps going to WDW is not right at this time? It's a balance only the OP can decide, but I don't see how the griping she did has any more value than what I posted. It has much more value, IMO, than what you posted though.

I'm sorry. It has to be so frustrating. The opening hours turned out better for us, but I know there are loads of people who planned for a 9 am opening whose carefully laid plans are now a wreck. I hope most people don't realize that it's changed and show up at 9 anyway. :lmao:

This! We aren't breakfast food people (unless it's a leisurely brunch around 11am.) So it has never even occurred to me to book an ADR breakfast just to walk down main street alone.

Sorry OP that it affects you. It affects us too because we are rope drop people so that means we have to get up an hour earlier and we were already getting up pretty early. It will be before the sun now.

This came out about 3 days ago and there were a lot of threads about it then.

I've done it before, and it was awesome!! But then, I'm up by 4:30 am for work every day, so getting up after that, and then heading to a Disney park, is a treat! I think there was me, and a family of 3 on the bus, if I remember correctly.

Awesome. We will be doing it. And it is our last day so we will also have to be packed and ready to go that morning.

You get out of life what you put into it! :cool1:

I just read on EasyWDW that MK is opening everyday now in December at 8am. This is such BS. I am sorry but do they not think about people who have put so much time into planning. Why freaking offer before opening ADR or BBB openings if its not going to benefit you at all. I am almost in tears as this was one of the most excited things I was looking forward to for our trip. We have to very small kids and we cannot wait in every line for 30 plus minutes. We have a ADR at CP on the 9th at 8:10 and that was ruined because of Parade tapping now my daughters BBB on the 12th is now going to not be as exciting because we will be weaving in and out of crowds to get to our appointment and not be able to get that shot of an almost empty main street. I could scream right. I am so mad. I understand some people like these changes but again why offer these times if your just going to screw over everyone who pays a crap ton of money for a trip and just wants those extra special moments.
I have the same ADR....just finding this out just changes what time to show up at the gate to try to get in earlier. I just wanted to try to get some shots of the castle and decor before the crowds. No big deal if it doesn't happen. Beats being at work! What ever happens on vacation: it's vacation! Just roll with it, and you'll have a much better time!!

Can anyone say first world problems? The OP is throwing a virtual temper tantrum because the park is opening an hour early? OP, please try for a little perspective. Take a breath.

Is this your first visit? Did you not know that Disney very frequently adds extra hours when advance sales show heavy crowds are likely? Did you not know that they do this almost every year at this time of year? Well, now you do. Next time you can anticipate the possibility.

Did you really think that even if you were there preopening that you were going to get photos of an empty park? First of all only Main Street and the hub are open. And this area will contain all of the guests with ADRs at CP and CRT, all those with early BBB appointments, and all of the guests taking early morning hours. So, not empty. Would you have been just as mad if you had seen other guests through your viewfinder on the way to breakfast? Crying and screaming on Main Street because there were strangers in your photos?

Why did you make those bookings? Was it to provide a character breakfast and a BBB experience for your child(ren) to start their day or was it just to take a few photos? Being able to do both is nice. But which is more important? Perspective, please.

MK can hold well over 70,000 guests on a heavy day. 99.9% of those guests will NOT have very early morning ADRs or appointments. They have also paid a crap ton of money on their vacation. They are in no way affecting your ability to enjoy your breakfast or BBB. Who should Disney pay more attention to - you, or the 69,000 other MK guests who welcome the idea of having an extra hour to spend in the parks on a crowded day? The extra money you are paying is for a breakfast and a makeover. Nothing more. Perspective, please. Take a breath. You are your own worst enemy if you go into this trip with this kind of attitude.

The A&E FP? Yeah I want some dwarf train.
