I am so tired of people who say all coupons are for junk!

You can legally print 2 coupons online. You can legally buy as many papers as you want. I have no stockpile. I do use coupons. If I'm buying it and there's a coupon, I saved money. It's a necessity for me. I need to save ever penny I can. I should have never said anything to begin with. I use coupons all the time. My house isn't over flowing and I don't just eat junk.

No no no...please don't think I think all you eat is junk.:headache: That's not my point AT ALL...I do think they are probably out there, I just have never IN MY AREA seen these in the paper, nor have I found any online.

So my point was only that if I were to only buy my paper and not buy them off ebay or a clipping service etc. I wonder where these people get them.

They CLAIM to see them online but I have YET to see anyone be able to post an actual LINK to one of these "$1.00 off any roast, fruit, etc" (that doesn't have the stipulation of either buying something in addition to the item you actually WANT to buy).

I'm VERY happy for people who are able to find these coupons!

I knew when I saw this title that you'd get a lot of debate. Eating and shopping for food is very near and dear to people's hearts. Kinda like trying to convince big game hunters to be vegans. Or worse, the other way around! Plus, as so many have said, there are huge regional differences in coupon availability.

I shop at Kroger in the midwest. We get newspaper and Kroger coupons ALL THE TIME for fresh veggies. For example: From the paper I might get $2.00 off Cuties (the little oranges) or $1.00 off a certain brand of lettuce or veggies. And then Kroger will send me a coupon for $3.00 off $10.00 fresh produce coupon. LOVE it!

We also get Silk coupons, Oikos coupons, Kashi coupons, and Kroger is great about sending $2.00 off any $10.00 organics coupon, sometimes they even will send me a whole flyer of organic coupons! They base your couons to what you buy with your Kroger card so every month, yup EVERY, I get free coupons for the things I buy all the time. Generally fresh and good stuff. LOVE those coupons. They expire quick though so I have to hop to using them!

Just this week I used coupons on chicken (it was on sale plus if you bought it & used the coupon you got free cheese), yogurt, Silk almond milk, contact lens cleaner ($8.00 value for FREE!), etc.

Non-couponing things we do is to get part of a cow every year from a local farmer. Shop at our farmer's market. Use reusable bottles for our drinks. And I make a lot of homemade things, like granola, petroleum free laundry soap, bread & pizza dough, etc. And I have a job and kids and a big house. But once you get the swing of homemade stuff, using coupons, and cooking at home it just becomes something you enjoy. Usually. lol

No one even said anything of the sort :confused3 You do realize that people drink wine, right?

Really?!!

Several people on this thread said they get coupons off wine bottles without buying the wine. That was what I was referring to.

For all the wine drinkers, I would suggest shopping at Bevmo and get their customer card. They frequently have B1G1 for 5 cents on wine. :thumbsup2:cool1:

There are none right now now but recently I have printed online coupons for butterball turkey bacon and ground turkey getting it for free or under .50. No stipulations at all.

yep and thats per computer.

Jenny, Im like you but do try to do a small stockpile.. but with 6 of us in the house buying 4 to 8 of something doesnt last long. Dont let these other people get you down.

Here is one you can probably relate to.. I was printing out some for next weeks sales and ran out of black ink ahh hate when I lose a coupon like that.

One question - and one comment..

Is there any chance that someone would be willing to start a thread here on the BB announcing where coupons are currently available online for meat, veggies, and fruits - without having to buy something additional to use said coupons and not a specific "store" or section of the country where it has to be used? This would be very, very helpful to those of us who aren't shopping just for cleaning supplies; health & beauty products; cereals; etc.. The real "budget busters" are those meats, veggies, and fruits - so I'm sure it would be quite helpful for many of us..

Anyone willing to take that on? I've personally never had any luck in that area or I'd volunteer to take on the task myself..

The question portion of this post is in regards to the "free samples" that were mentioned.. Are these smaller size items that are mailed to you (similar to the little bottles of shampoo you get in the hotels) - or do they send you a coupon for a full size sample of whatever? Since I don't live with my DD and her family for 7 months out of the year, even the teeny tiny sizes of products I need would work out fine for me.. Are there more than just the one online site previously mentioned that I could check out?

Thanks in advance..:goodvibes

Oh - and I don't believe that "all" coupons are for junk.. Granted, I don't find coupons for fresh meat, fresh veggies, and fresh fruits - but I don't consider tuna fish "junk" - I don't consider frozen veggies "junk" - I don't consider frozen fruits (minus the sugary syrup) "junk" - I don't consider oatmeal "junk" - and on and on..

Unfortunately I can't even find any decent coupons for the items I've mentioned, so 9 times out of 10 I buy the less expensive "non-brand" items(which is fine with me) - but there are three "brand"' items that I must have that are killing my budget lately: Folgers Coffee (canned and the only kind I can drink) - Breathe Right Strips and Boost (per my doctors orders).. If anyone happens to stumble across any of these online, I would really appreciate it if you would PM me..

Oh - one other thing.. Was I correct in the observation that I made on the other thread - that the coupons seem to have a very, very short expiration date on them now (usually a month or so) and the "no expiration" coupons have pretty much disappeared ?

I'm glad I popped back on to the DIS again today..:goodvibes Interesting conversations - learning new things..:thumbsup2

What I found works best for finding deals that relate to your area is finding one of the coupons sites that cover the stores you shop at.

For example the main site I use is www.livingrichwithcoupons.com She is out of new jersey and lists the deals for the grocery stores in this area and well as the drug stores, target and other stores.

I can go to her site and see what products interest me. I also subscibe to a few others on facebook and catch the deals there.

I see you mention frozen veggies.. I also dont consider them junk. Most of the time I get them for free. For next week I have coupons that I printed online today that will make them .50 a box or .29 depending on the variety.

I know I just saw a folgers coupons last week. I want to say it was for $2.00. I will see if I can find it.

As far as the samples. Sometime they do give out full size and sometimes they are the small one time use ones.
Here is a link on livingrich/ They are updated all of the time:
http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/category/free-samples

Even if people dont have stores that double, if you have a Walgreens near you they always have deals.

Using printables I ran it tonight and got 2 boxes of Kelloggs Frosted Flakes cereal for .88 each and a 6 pack of Scotts paper towels for 2.50

My kids eat cereal and we use paper towels so it was a deal for us.

Here was the link for the folgers coupons.. looks like it ran out. But it says to sign up for more deals:
http://www.folgers.com/facebook-coupon.aspx?cid=fb_wall_112803

Boost had a printable on coupons.com for $3.00 in January. It may come back.

The breath right strips you can get a free sample here.. and I read it may also come with a couponn:

We have a store called Price Chopper in our area. This week on Facebook (you have to like them) they printed a coupon for $5 of of any 10 Price Chopper branded items. I bought 10 packages of Price Chopper breakfast sausage (on sale) and got $5.00 off. In addition on another trip, I bought 11 Price Chopper Yogurts (.45 each) and they were free when they took off the $5. DH bought 10 Price Chopper cat foods that were free..perfect for our rescue cats. Price Chopper has lots of brand items we purchase anyway, so having these coupons have been great. Last week one of the coupons was Hellmans mayo for $1.99, and strawberries for $2.00.
Besides the wonderful Facebook coupons which can't be beat, on Thursdays their regular website posts decent coupons..and all week long they have "ok" coupons on their site. The Facebook ones are the best though for us.
Many manufacturers also have coupons when you 'like' their facebook pages.
Ronzoni has coupons from their regular site (as do many others) that I used last week. We buy the Heathy Harvest and last week it was on sale in our area for $1.00 a box, and Ronzoni had this coupon, where it was $1 off two boxes. That was a great savings. Some people got it free at the sales at their markets:

Coupons can be great, if you use them for items you will be able to consume before the expiration dates.

This would be WONDERFUL! Thank you for suggesting it!

I think a lot of us are in the same boat, not even aware of where to find these deals.

I subscribe to CouponMom and I know she will match (in my area) to Hy-Vee...however I've always found them to be the most expensive store in my area.
If I could find manufacturers coupons I could use at Wal-Mart that would be perfect!

Also, if anyone knows of one of the blogs where they do match ups in the Cedar Rapids, IA area I'd love to follow it!

Maybe I just need to be more open to taking the time to shop more stores. I just typically price match any sales @ Walmart for things I can't/don't buy at Aldi's. I just don't know how much running around is really worth it.:sad2:

Thanks so much!! I'm book marking all of these sites right now.. I really appreciate you hunting them down for me..:goodvibes

How would I go about finding the particular local stores site comparisons/ads for my area(s) - here at DD's and up to the lake? Is there something specific I should Google?

Again, thanks a million..:thumbsup2

Thank you! Just printed those off! Now...it's not a brand I know of well, but I'm willing to try it if this coupon makes it less expensive than others I do like.

Several of the coupon sites have coupon databases that list available coupons and where they can be found, all searchable by type, value, and brand/item. I have them bookmarked at another computer so don't have links at hand, but they're well worth searching out.

For my part, I find many, many coupons that for good, non-junk foods. It just took me a bit of time to discover where to look. My family is dealing with a number of food allergies (including wheat and soy, which eliminates a lot of prepared foods) and I still manage to save between $30 and $50 a week (with a cash outlay budget of $100).

Some coupons I've used recently are for organic yogurts (w/o corn syrup), wheat-free whole grain and seed crackers, organic peanut butter, carrots, lettuce, non-processed cheese, eggs, organic milk, organic tomatoes, organic spices, and much more. I don't insist on rock-bottom pricing and I don't insist on organic everything, but I'm pretty satisfied that I am able to feed my family superbly for the amount of money spent.

I can't be bothered with coupons usually. I'll use one once in a rare while. I do hit sales though.

I don't understand why the op cares so much about the opinions of others. Who cares if I believe coupons are primarily for junky, overpricessed, over sugared nasty food? It is merely my opinion. It has no pertinence to anyone's life but our own.

Here is A LINK for an ACTUAL coupon that does not require an additional purchase. (It's for $3 off an $8 meat purchase- any meat you want from the meat department)

Coupons are great!

Here is a breakdown of the GOOD stuff I saved money on this week...

8 Similac Ready Feed
Kotex U Tampons
7 Boxes organic cereal
organic granola bars
9 Organic frozen veggies
Big box of 89 diapers
Big thing of baby wipes
2 Scott TP
2 scott natural wipes
Charmin Ultrasoft big package
charmin wipes
Organic Paper Towels
2 Clorox Greenworks
Natural rice cracker

Before coupons would have cost me $148 plus tax

After coupons $49 plus tax:cool1::)

IT CAN BE DONE:goodvibes

I get plenty of healthy food with coupons too, this week I got fruit, soy milk, and I forget what else, but I know there was more.

Really?!!
Several people on this thread said they get coupons off wine bottles without buying the wine. That was what I was referring to.
