I just have to post how thankful that I am that I am still alive. Some of you may remember that I ended up in the ICU after emergency surgery at the end of August, on the ventilator because of blood clots in my arm and massive clots in my lungs.

I joyously celebrate each and every day and I am especially thankful that I get to celebrate Christmas with my family this year - that my children didn't loose their mom, nor did my husband loose his wife. I am sitting here with tears running down my cheeks because I am so completely happy and gloriously thankful for this very special time. It is my favorite holiday of the year.

So I just have to say you never know how much time you have on this Earth. I know Christmas can be a stressful time, with lots of drama, but PLEASE take a minute to find the joy in today and tomorrow.

Merry Christmas and Peace to all!:santa:

Merry Christmas to you and yours also!

I completely understand what you are saying. I wasn't ill like you were but I woke up next to my husband this morning and will tomorrow morning God willing and it's the best feeling in the entire world. I'd gladly give away all the presents under the tree for that simple treat every morning.

I hope ya'll have a wonderful celebration all weekend.:flower3:

Thank you for posting that. We some personality clashes in the extended family and it can be stressful at times. I will remember what you said and try to realize it doesn't matter.

Merry, merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy that you survived.God bless.

So glad for you, OP. We will be gathering in an hour or so, those of us still here. Our Christmas Eve celebration has less than HALF of the previous participants left, just in the past 5 years. Several family members moved, and a few passed on. Since we just got through another wake & funeral this week, I expect several to choose to sit out the holiday this year. The rest of us, We will get together and celebrate those who've beaten their illnesses/accidents, and also the memory of those who didn't.

Maybe we'll cry, maybe we'll laugh...but in our hearts, we'll try to remember to be thankful that we have another Christmas Eve together (mostly).

Enjoy every minute of this Christmas with your loved ones!!! And thanks for the reminder that we should value every second we get with ours!

 What a great message. I really needed this as I head out to dinner at SIL's house.

Merry Xmas. :santa:

Wonderful thread OP! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays to you and everyone on the DIS. What a great reminder to live each day to its fullest.

:thumbsup2 Thank you for sharing this. I'm glad you are making the most of the holiday. Our family friend just lost their 7 month old on December 20th and Christmas just isn't Christmas this year. My DD 11 babysat the baby, with the baby's grandma on Sat, and the baby died on Monday. I need to concentrate on spending some extra time with my DD tomorrow. (I have spent time with her this week.) Thanks for the reminder.

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear about the losses some of you have had. It does really make this time of year so hard. Blessings and prayers to you.

We are home now from church and Christmas celebrations at my mom's. Church was so emotional for me. I cried so many times. Just happy to be here. They also had my favorite Christmas song, which doesn't happen very often, so I was very blessed and took it as a sign from God that I was exactly where I was supposed to be, to appreciate it.

After church we traditionaly go to the cemetary and place roses on FIL's gravesite. There I really lost it, just thinking that my precious family could have also had to visit my grave. Just writing that sentence makes me wince. It is so surreal almost. We left the cemetary crying, DH for missing his father so, and me for being so thankful.

So, I too, as many of you have posted, spent alot of time with family members at the celebration. Just talking with them, appreciating being in the moment, and giving my Mom and Dad an extra hug and kiss, as well as DH, and the kids.

LIFE IS GOOD! Literally!:flower3:
