My grandfather passed away this morning.
He was such a fine person, a gentleman in every sense of the word. He loved his family so much, and he was much loved by everyone. He will be missed more than words can say.
Last night at the hospital, he was concerned about not having enough chairs in his room for visitors. He was on his death bed, and he was worried about how comfortable his visitors would be. That's an example of how caring he was. I wasn't able to be there (we're out-of-state), but when he took a rapid turn for the worse last month, I visited him then for the final time. I'm glad I got to see him when I did.
He proudly served his country in World War II and in the Korean War. As a veteran, he enjoyed hanging out at the local American Legion. Not many WWII vets are left nowadays.
It's a sad day here.
