I am so nervous!!!

So, I woke up really sick this morning. (I know my head is still there cause it hurts too much lol) I thought it might be coming cause I was sooo tired yesterday. Now I just heard that the little girl I watch has the stomach flu and so do my in-laws whom I just saw.

Here is why I am nervous: I LEAVE IN 8 DAYS!!!! Oiy, I can't be sick in my beloved WDW Nor my family. I am so nervous we are all going to be sick for WDW. In fact, ever since I heard my tummy has been sour!

We leave Sunday and both my son & I got hit with colds at the start of the week. I bought some Zicam and it has pretty much wiped out the worst of it in 2 days. I saw they made some stuff for flu. You might want to run out and get some for you and everyone else. It might not do much for you this far along, but it might prevent or lessen the effects on everyone else.

Did you and everyone else by chance get the flu shot? That may also help prevent or reduce problems......We all got hit at Christmas with a 24 hr bug. My dh was the only one who didnt get the flu shot and he had the worst time of it. So far knock on wood, we havent gotten the flu thats going around.

Thanks, I think I will try the Zicam. DS got the flu shot but so did the little girl who has the stomach flu so we'll see how it goes. I hate the stomach flu!

I also second the Zicam!! As well as Cold RX or Airborn! All are all natural and will help you get over your cold / flu much faster!

One of my employees swears by stuff called emergenC. She gets it at the pharmacy. Whenever she is around someone who is sick or feels something coming on, she takes it. It is a powder that she mixes w/h2o, she say's it's citrus tasting. I am going to get some to have on hand to try.

If it is the "stomach flu", (not the regular flu you get a shot for once a year) that you have, then its a virus that probably will just have to run its course. I would suggest limiting contact as much as possible with the rest of the fam. Wipe the toliet seat and toliet nob with clorox wipes (or some disinfectant) as well as the nob on the sink every time you use the bathroom. wash out plates/cups used with hot soppy water....ect dont let anyone eat from you and wash your hands often. This thing is sooo catching. You should be ok in a few days but the thing you have to worry about is spreading it. Symptoms dont show up for a day or more so be careful even if you see no one is getting sick.

Drink lots of fluids because dehydration is dangerous and get rest.

Hopefully you will be OK by the time you leave.

The good news that if its the stomach flu, the course is usually ran in 24 hours. For us the bad news would be everyone in the family would get it before its done. Even with all the sanitizers and hand washing we still get things.

Thanks for the support you guys! I'm waiting for DH to return with Zicam. I figure anything that will help will be a blessing. Hopefully, if the fam. gets it will be soon.

The stomach "flu" is not influenza that you get vaccinated for. That is a very common and frustrating misconception. The flu shot will not do a darn thing for a stomach virus. It just has to clear your system. Usually these types of things are fairly quick to pass, so if you leave in 8 days there's a good chance that you'll be done with it. Keep yourself hydrated, eat gentle foods if you can tolerate it, and get well soon!

OP, are you from NC or is this spreading all over the country? Our news (in NC) has reported outbreaks at many of our local hospitals. A couple in Durham & Fayetteville are not allowing any visitors or unnecessary folks to come in b/c its so contagious. Everyone in my house has gotten, and also my parents who were in contact with us. I have 2 children, so 2 pregnancies & over 30 yrs. of life & have never felt this bad. I am hopefully on the mending end of it, but this really is awful!!
I hope you are all feeling better soon!! The dr. told us there is nothing to do but wait it out.

SLDL you poor thing. Wow, I hope that is not the same strain. I'm in NY and I haven't heard of anyone oing to the hospital. Althought the mom of the little girl did say that she "ill" 20 times which I feel is alot for an 18 mos. old

Ah yes , the wonderful pukes and poops! I live in Eastern Pa. and work at an ER in western NJ. We've seen tons of people with this bug. Just last weekend the outgoing charge nurse gave me report... she pointed at the patient board and said "abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea" and she meant everyone!!! Good news through, it seems to last 2-3 days so you should be well before you leave. Just make sure everyone in your house keeps washing their hands, and keep their hands away from their mouths! Well. I wanted to thank everyone and tell you that I don't have the stomach flu just the regular kind and was accepting of the fact that if I get it okay. But then yesterday the father of the little girl came in and handed me her stuff and her and tells me "don't get to close I've been vomitting all morning". What is WRONG with people? Why are you here? Then he goes to work! After he picks his kids up, the other one I watch started vomitting! It's just a matter of time.

JUST PLEASE LET IT BE BEFORE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
