I am so mad at Lowes right now..

Miss Jasmine mind if I ask what type of fridge you got. Only reason I am so concerned on the water drip is we had bought a Maytag side by side water in door. It had a minor drip from the water line that you described. But for us it turned into a crack in the pipe that brings the water into the ice machine- And when they came out to replace it the first time the guy said- oh yeah they make these out of plastic and they break very easily. He came back 3 more times until I finally said ENOUGH and got rid of it. It had destroyed our floor with the leak from the back that we didn't see. It was a 3 year old fridge when we got rid of it. Piece of junk!
Really I have yet to find a great fridge. We had a sub zero that I loved but we moved and left it. Now I hear they have been bought out and are not the same product. We did replace the Maytag with an Amana french door one(by the way Maytag bought out Amana and now I think someone else bought Maytag) Soon there will be one fridge company and it will be a bad one!

I didn't mean to rain on your new fridge parade- we just had such a mess from our piece of junk $2000 fridge that whenever I hear water drip I am brought right back!

It's a Whirlpool and we have pulled it out and haven't seen anything. :) We are monitoring the situation, which is why I wanted to know what my options were.
 
This kind of service is not isolated to Lowe's. We were dissatisfied with some special order light fixtures from Home Depot and got a runaround on a refund.

When we placed our order, one of the fixtures was on display, and we ordered several fixtures from the same series from a catalog. When the fixtures came in, they had changed their "rust" finish. Instead of a realistic rusty looking powder coat finish, it was a cheap looking satin finish that looked like brown paint with flecks of orange paint spattered on it. It was nothing like the finish on the display fixture. We refused to take them, and after a fight, they did give our money back because the item was not what we ordered.
 

Never mind about the Unit I was going to buy. The store opened at 6:00 AM I did not get there till 9:00 AM. Salesman could have purchased it himself. Their Inventory system showed that there were two more in stock, but no one could find them. How do Two Fridges dissapear. I think there is some good old fashioned theft going on there at the store.

These large box stores pay low salaries to get the prices down. Their experts are far from that. I would much rather go to the Hardware Store Down the road for advise and friendly Service
 
My elderly parents drove an hour to a Lowes on Tuesday. My mom wanted to special order wall border from the special order books they have in their wallpaper/paint dept.

My mom chose the border. The woman at Lowes said payment needed to be up front. There was a form filled out. My parents paid around $80 with a check for the border.

Several hours later, after my parents were back home, Lowes called to say the wall border was no longer available. My parents would have to drive 2 hours roundtrip to pick up their check. The woman who originally helped them special order said the manager would have the check and to just stop at the service desk to pick up their check.

The next day my parents drove back to Lowes. They were told they couldn't have the check back because it was cashed, and since it's a check they can't get their money back for 2 weeks. The border was not in stock. Nothing was even ordered, so why did they cash the check?

The manager told them once they write a check to Lowes, even for a special order that is not available, they gave permission to Lowes to cash the check.
They can't give the check back since it was cashed. They also can't get a refund for 2 weeks. Lowes gets to keep the money for 2 weeks for absolutely nothing.

My dad asked why he was told to drive back over to pick up the check. The manager told him that it's his decision what happens to the check, not the girl in the wallpaper department.

Is this the way it usually works with stores?


I would be livid. I'd have your parents call Lowe's head quarters and explain what happened. I'd also call the Better Business Bureau and ask them if this is legal and file a complaint.
 
Please write a letter to Lowes Corporate and let them know what happened. This is absolutely inexcusable! Witht he cost of gas these days, your parents should at least be given a gift card to compensate them for what truly amounts to out of pocket expenses.
