i am tired of whiny buyers who think that they should immediately have their item on their doorstep after paying.

auction ended on the 5th. buyer paid with bidpay on the 6th. bidpay says not to ship until payment clears your bank, which occured on the 12th. i've already received two calls from the buyer by that point. no emails, just phone calls. i ship via priority mail, not media (which is what she paid for and take a heck of a lot longer) and waste another $6. and receive more calls, now from her husband (cause i guess she thinks that's going to scare me). and then she negs me. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope she likes the neg she got in return.

sorry... vent over... back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Just one more reason for me to stay away from E-bay.

My DH and I have gotten so frustrated with ebay that we now sell most of our stuff on Craigslist. Less hassle!

What did your auction say for shipping time? Did you say that you wait for Bidpay to clear? Did you tell her when she and her husband called that you were waiting for the payment to clear?

She may have had unrealistic expectations - that's why I put EVERYTHING in my auctions - how long to ship, clearing checks, refunds/returns - I spell it out exactly.

You also should just list priority if that's all you ship - you're wasting your money if you are not and ship everything that way.

Ok, here I am sounding critical. sorry. Been there, done all of that. I hate neg feedback too. :(

you're not being critical, you're asking the questions i didn't put in the original story cause i was too mad.

when you pay with bidpay, it states that payment will take 5-7 business days to clear with the seller, before you even click to send the payment.

i gave options for shipping. she chose media mail. i shipped priority just to get her to shut up.

oh... and her neg said i never responed to emails. she never sent me any to respond to. just started calling me. and only at times when she assumed i'd be at work, so she wouldn't actually have to talk to someone. she got scared and hung up when my father answered once (he lives with me).

That's eBay for you. If our real economy worked that way, it would be in a shambles.

i sell now an then on ebay and i've began to notice people want You to Give it to them, they think the starting price or the buy it now price is too high, they don't want to pay shipping fees. i had one person didn't want to pay shipping, said they'd have a friend who lives in the same city as i do pick it up, thought about doing that but then , thought, i'd have no real proof of delivery an i'd get hit with a charge back. they'd still have to get it shipped to them anyway.
i'm starting to think ebay is more of a pain then its worth.

i've added my 2 cents, can i get a discount on the shipping fees ?? :rotfl:

I buy a lot on E-bay and I don't expect a seller to wait 6 days to ship something after I have paid, that is a long time. I usually have my things that quickly. Now I don't use Bidpay so that could be it, but I would be looking for my item within a week also. I would put in bold letters you wait a full week to ship something because to be honest I don't read all the screens with paypal when I use that so your seller could have missed the Bidpay screen that says it. I don't think she deserved a negative just because you don't like her contacting you. A neutral with explanation ok, I feel for her to avoid a neg. she sould pay you on time and not try to rip you off by returning it for no reason, annoying buyers are part of doing business. Of course I wouldn't have given you a neg either, but I would have mentioned the slow shipping.

but there was no slow shipping. it went out as soon as her payment cleared. her expecting it to go out before it cleared is crazy. if she didn't read bidpay's terms of service, it's not my fault. that's like a seller not shipping with delivery confirmation and when they get hit with a chargeback saying, well i didn't know. i had options for payments, she chose that one. and she didn't just call me once or twice. she called me 10 times in 7 days.

sure... but since it was only 2 cents, that's all i can discount your shipping! :rotfl2:

I'm off ebay after an experience with the last seller. She said it would be shipped priority mail and charged $2.50 for shipping. When it arrived, it hadn't gone PM. And it was a whopping 87 cents that she spent on shipping. And the packing was a small envelope. Not a new one, one that had been used to ship something to her! The previous label was ripped off, one end of it was completely cut off, and she used the cheapest shipping tape to close it. Gee...guess she couldn't afford to STAPLE the thing! That would have held it better. So I left neutral feedback. What is with the (*$*%# sellers not leaving feedback until after the buyer posts? What is that garbage? My end of the deal was done timely...paid with PP the same day I won the auction. End of my part right there.   Haven't bought a thing since and I won't ever again.

I think the feedback system is a joke. E-bay should fix it so that neither party can see their feedback until both have posted them. I think it's ridiculous to give a person negative feedback in response to negative feedback when they otherwise did everything else right.

i've had sellers do that. i hate it. i only charge an extra dollar on top of usps fees. but everyone gets a decent envelope or box. no 'reused until it falls apart' garbage.

as for the feedback. i know a lot of sellers who won't leave it until they hear from the buyer. they want to make sure it was received and that they're happy with it. a lot of sellers have been burned by posting pos feedback after payment, only to have the buyer scam them through paypal.

some also (me included) leave feedback in batches. i usually do it once a week or so.

ITA with this. I pay/payed usually the day I win, my part is done! How much more can I do on my end!

I don't leave negative feed back I have only had two bad experiences on Ebay. The first one we worked out and the second one I am dealing with now and it seems as if it is going to be fine also. If everything works out like it should then I will leave positive feed back saying something like "honest seller with great communication" as I did in the previous auction. I already have a positive from this last seller.

Why would anyone who is eBay savvy ever leave negative feedback first? That's just asking for trouble.

Here's our experience with an Ebay seller. We bought 3 dozen used golf balls for a price of $45 plus a $15 shipping charge. We paid with paypal. Seller was supposed to send USPS and we would have had a small customs charge but instead sends UPS and puts a price of $250 as the purchase price. So...when the item arrives in Canada, our UPS billing charge is $90. If the seller would have put the proper charge on the item it would have been under $20. We refused the item. It was returned to the seller who has yet to respond to us (4 weeks after he got the item back). He is now nolonger available on Ebay. Nice.

Just to add my two penneth, I am a Power seller and when someone has bought an item I email them as soon as possible to explain that I will ship as soon as funds have cleared and not before, if it takes a week then so be it.
I also ensure that I communicate to the buyer any possible delays that inadvertently occur form time to time that way I have preserved my 100% feedback record.

Just for the record when it comes to shipping costs you should not just look at the mailing costs or the quality of the wrapping, one also has to consider any travelling costs involved, not everyone has a post office in the neighbourhood, you also have the choice of not bidding if you think the mailing costs are extortionate. But you should fight your corner if the seller offers a standard of service and then supplies one of lesser quality.
Also as a previous OP stated, I wait for feedback from the buyer before placing my own as I like to ensure that the sale is successful, it does encourage communication if there is something wrong and aids resolving any potential problem in 99% of cases

I think the thing on eBay that ticks me off the most are the sellers that are clearly trying to make a free profit from shipping costs. I'm not talking about anyone here, I'm talking about the ones that have a BIN for a DVD for something really low like $5.00 and then charge $24.99 shipping and handling - and it's not like it's coming from overseas. They are scamming eBay by making a nice tidy profit from handling while only paying an eBay fee for a small selling price.

i would have refused the package too. if i ship overseas, it goes USPS. ups and fedex charge scary brokerage fees. i wonder if the seller realizes that she could be stuck with those fees now.

I buy on Ebay all the time.. recently I had an experience with a seller where I never received the item and it was like 10 days, I paid immediately with Paypal... I emailed her and she said after she looked into it that the item was returned as delivery was not accepted. Something happened between my post office and her delivery company....I think she used DHL instead of US Mail. Anyway, we emailed back and forth and I still wanted the item but was leaving on a cruise...so I asked her if we could finish the transaction when I got back. She was ok with that and in the meantime reordered the item, see here is where it was tricky and I did not read her fine print, once you win the auction, she orders the item from somewhere..

We completed the auction transaction when I got back, I left her positive feedback and she thanked me in her feedback to me for being so patient. I could have freaked out and left negative feedback when I did not receive the item, but chose to work it out with the seller... plus I am pretty proud of my 100% positive feedback, had I left her negative, she would have responded with negative to me and what does that gain..

Anyhow.. sorry this happened to you as the Seller, she could have resolved it so easily starting with emails....you do not call unless the seller does not respond to your emails.....I just do not understand people sometimes..
