Michelle, you are doing the right thing for your DSD. Try to be there for her, it sounds like you are a great Stepmom, so keep up the great work! I would snap at the Mom as well! Give your DSD a hug and keep talking to her!
When my DD is upset about something, I try to get her listen to me, you know yourself, alot of times the kids today do not want to hear what we have to say! I have taken a nice approach with my DD. I will tell her something like this:
Lauren hun, I would like to talk with you! I will then tell her, Please just let me talk and listen to what I have to say! I am only being a Mom and it is important to me that you at least listen to what I have to say, this way I know that I have at least told you! Let me do my job and be a Mom. It has worked! She is now more open minded and will come back to me with different things.
I am sure your DSD welcomes any advice and help/support that you offer!
