I am probably homeless...another update pg 18

I am sitting in my BIL hotel room typing this to my friends on the Dis. We don't know what to do or where to go. My city has been destroyed and we don't know if we have a home to go to. The news says only 50 dead so far, but I hear reports of thousands more. We have no idea of the state of our area, if it has been leveled like some other ares like Slidel, or if it is under water like the 9th ward. We are in Dallas safe and sound, but I don't know how long we can afford to stay and the govenor closed the borders so we can't go back, even if we could my home is probably gone anyway. Please send prayers, I don't know how much that's going to help at this point, but it may. My son has been such a trooper through all of this, he has an ear infection but he has been so good. I will update when I know more.

So sorry to hear of this. You might want to call your insurance company and start a file with them so you can get funds to keep staying in the hotel until you get further info about your home.

Have you been in contact with your insurance company yet? If it is a major company, there is probably a local agent who can help you. You might also want to check in with the local Red Cross chapter. They might be able to help with communication and information on what your next steps should be.
