I Am NOT a Bad, Bad Baby -- TR final updates 9/12

We got home yesterday late afternoon and made it home from the airport on the south side of Chicago to our house (after waiting an eternity for luggage) at around 5:00 p.m.

Unfortunately, Vegas sent me home with a nasty summer cold as a souvenir...stuffy nose, coughing my head off, sore throat.

I have a lot to catch up on here and will get to responses and hopefully an update soon.

Welcome home!! So sorry to hear you came home with a cold though, not fun! Get better soon!

Welcome home! I am finally all caught up. Love the Ireland pics and the updates.

We got the very back row for Star Tours at Disneyland this trip and oh my. My feet didn't touch the ground and I got thrown around like a rag doll. Marissa got the door seat, so she got thrown against the door quite a bit. We were all battered and bruised after. Hopefully, we will never get the back row again.

Sorry to hear about the summer cold. I hate getting them myself. Come to think of it, I hate a cold anytime of the year. LOL... After our trip to WDW in June the next day at home I had the sore throat and stuffy nose thing as well. I hope you are feeling better soon. ;)

Welcome back! Hope you had a great trip! Sorry to hear you came back with the dreaded summer cold. Try and get some rest and feel better fast!

Welcome Back! :goodvibes So sorry you caught a summer cold, those are the worst. Hope you get feeling better quickly

Welcome back! Hope you had fun. Sorry about the cold, though. Summer colds are the worst.

Hope you are feeling better Kathy. The pictures from your kids Ireland trip are beautiful. Looks like they are having a wonderful trip!

OMG. These pictures of the girls are all SO good! Cayley is just as cute as a button. Mark must have loved the hat pics!

Mark did; but he also said they didn't quite carry it off as good as him. I think someone was jealous. :lmao:

I think I may have missed an update, so I have to go back and find it.

Fun day so far at HS. Sounds like you guys had a blast!

We did have a good day at the Studios.

So you skipped F! I have not seen F! since I took my DN LJ when he was 9. That was a long time ago! :faint:

We went in 2012 when we went for Mark's surprise birthday trip because Des had never seen it. I hope some day the girls see it.

But, hey - the girls wanted ice cream and you guys had more TK's, so what's not to like???? I will definitely be hitting up OKW for a TK (or two) in October! I just love it there and can't wait to visit again, even though I am not staying there.

I think the girls plan was much better; I'm glad you'll be visiting OKW.

Have a great time in Vegas!:banana::banana: Takes lots of pics!

We had a great time despite the weather not cooperating part of the trip.

I just love Cayley's Chip hat pictures! She is such a cutie!!! We have an identical photo of Lorelai holding the Rebel Spy shirt later in the trip, she was so happy to be picked. I wish Lorelai and Cayley would have gotten to spend more time together, since they are so close in age. Maybe another time!

It would have been nice to have spent more time with you. The kids get a kick out of being the Rebel Spy.

I completely understand calling it a night before Fantasmic! Believe me if everyone wasn't feeling it, sitting in a very crowded arena and fighting the crowd out wouldn't have been advisable. I think your plans of a nice cocktail and ice cream sounds perfect! That showing of Fantasmic was PACKED and it took the energy out of the whole night for us and we love the show.

I'm glad now that you said it was packed that we did skip it.

Just when I got caught up you posted again! :rotfl:

Sorry, Shannon.

Sounds like you ladies were having a wonderful trip. I can't remember everything I wanted to comment on, or anything really :lmao:, but I intend to stay caught up now!

I tend to do that often (and at my age I've learned to jot down notes).

I do remember that the pics of the girls in their funny hats are adorable. Mr. Mark must have been very very proud. :goodvibes

He adores those girls and they could have been wearing shoes on their heads and he would have been proud.

Just got myself subbed to your PTR too. Hope that you and Mark have a fantastic trip to Vegas-you've both earned it!

Thanks; we had a great time with lots of friends.

Have a fantastic time in Vegas, baby! Hope you hit it big $$$

Thanks, Dee. We had a good time and I did hit $1000 on a slot machine. :)

What a great Hollywood Studios day!

We got everything done we wanted...well except Fantasmic and Art of Animation.

A meet-up, followed by some good-natured competition on TSM (must have been good-natured since you don't remember the scores), Muppets (love that show) and AI (actually, I haven't seen this and can't say I'm heartbroken that it is closing)

With the kids, I tend to ignore the scores (although Avery usually beats me anyway).

Glad you enjoyed the meal at Mama Melrose. We last ate there in 2009, for the Fantasmic Package, and we really enjoyed it. Haven't been back because we are never at HS at dinner time. We had the calamari, too and loved it.

Mama Melrose gets picked on a lot, but I've yet to have a bad meal there.

That's funny that the bad, bad baby comments returned. :rotfl:

It was hysterical; I'm sure it comes up again during the trip too.

Too bad you didn't make it to F!, but it is always a smart call to pack it in for the night instead of forcing it when you are not feeling it. How nice of you to pass along your tickets.

Yes; if the girls hadd wanted to stay we would have. No point in wasting those tickets.

Sounds like you all made your own fun.

:goodvibes

We did...and the girls loved the arcade.

I have still not eaten at Mama Melrose! It makes the list every trip, and every trip it gets cut at the last minute. Some day I will, your dinner looks yummy, especially Avery's cupcake!

I wish I could tell you what it tasted like, but the bad, bad baby wouldn't share it with any of us. :rotfl2:

I used to watch American Idol when it first came on TV. I could never pick the winners there either! :rotfl:

I'm not sure why I never got into the show. I think it is because I wasn't a Simon fan.

Too bad the girls weren't feeling Fantasmic, but it's good that you didn't force it. I have seen that happen way too often, it's never enjoyable.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I hate when parents force their kids to do something. It's just not worth it in the end.

Awww a little nap.. How precious is she!!!

As precious as they come. :)

F! seen it once i was good but Tom likes it a lot we might have to see it again.. If i can't talk them into going back to the pool. :lmao:

They've changed it a bit since you saw it.

Yes i am a huge fan of HS. just love the theme. and every single ride they have

I like a couple of the rides but then I am bored. I'm sure that will all change once they make the changes they keep talking about.

So glad they have lots of street performers!!! Makes me giddy! Then again i am a fan of the three stooges and I love Lucy! :lmao:

Oh you and my husband would get along famously. He loves the Three Stooges and I forbid it being on in the house unless I am NOT home.

Never had Mama's how was the food.. it looks great.

We enjoy it (much better than Tony's at the MK!).

OH! Not sharing?!?! yes Bad baby!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

She just wasn't feeling it I guess. :lmao:

looks like a fun day at DHS! happy you didn't get sick feeling on Star Wars this time, awesome cayley was the rebel spy!

have a great time in Vegas! safe travels!!

Thanks, Lisa. I think I have to be careful that I don't eat or drink ANYTHING before I go on that ride. Thanks; we had a great time in Vegas.

sounds like you got a lot done at MGM and clearly the party was spent. We love Fantasmic! so wouldn't want to skip - though who knows what will happen with our upcoming trip. That is great that you were able to pass along some pixie dust and give the passes to others - I am sure it meant a lot to them!

Thanks, Phil. I will be interested to see what you get done with three little ones now. I doubt we will see Fantasmic in September either...just no time for it with all of our other plans. I saw no reason to waste the tickets and at least they got in even if the seats weren't center row.

I know Mama Melrose doesn't get the best reviews, but we've always liked it. Twice we've gone without the Fantasmic package and were able to get it by just using our dining plan. You can't beat a free appetizer!

Me too; never had a bad meal there. Love a free appetizer...especially when someone doesn't share dessert. ;)

Avery's cupcake makes me laugh. Our last trip, we left two of those in our room's fridge with a note for the mousekeepers to enjoy them.

That's funny; but I'm sure the mousekeepers appreciate it.

Safe Travels!

Thanks; a bumpy flight going in, but overall it was great.

That's quite the detailed recap of it! :lmao:

Oh stop now; I do remember the CM asking how old the girls were and we told a little white lie that Avery was a tad older

::yes::

I thought when they closed Muppets down they were going to change the show; I was disappointed they hadn't.

That is always a good thing.

Yes; it gives me hope I can ride it with Mark because he really likes it.

After that night in MK with you, I can certainly understand the need for a nap.

Hey...it was her idea!

I wouldn't either!!! Get your own dessert!!! :lmao:

Why does this not surprise me coming from you? ;)

Ok, we're agreeing on too many things in this update.

Scary isn't it?

Thank goodness... :rolleyes1

Agreed!

Or maybe the rest of the audience was tone deaf?

That's it!

That's too bad that they didn't want to see it. But it is always hard to escape the siren call of ice cream. I'm glad you were able to pass your passes on to someone else.

Ice cream vs. sitting with 2000 of your closest friends in 110 degree weather. Yep, I'd go with the ice cream too!

Sounds like a nice evening, even if you did skip Fantasmic. That seems like it was the thing to do, if you just weren't feeling it.

Thanks, Darla. This trip proved to be doing something else if we weren't feeling it (as the next day will show).

A nap is always good on a Disney trip!

Yes it is; too bad I never got one on COP. :lmao:

Mama Melrose I will trying for the first time in September also for a Fantasmic! meal. Looking at you meal makes me very excited for this one:goodvibes

I think you will enjoy. It's definitely not gourmet, but I've never had a bad meal there.

That was really nice of you to give your passes away I sure it meant a lot to that family to not have to wait in line.

I was surprised how long it took us to find a family of four; but we finally did and they did have someone in a wheelchair with them so I'm sure this made life easier for them.

Look drinking is fine especially in Disney, I mean c'mon isn't it just the best place in the world to drink? (and in my humble opinion just the best place to be and live) :lmao:

I couldn't agree more! :goodvibes

Sweet Cayley taking a siesta :goodvibes AWWWW, I've never felt inclined to do Fantasmic. The kids are always so tired OR would rather hit up the rides..I think last time we did TSM. Avery sure loved that cupcake, I am surprised she didn't let anyone nibble :rolleyes1

Yes; I think the night before was catching up with her. I really enjoy Fantasmic (it's my second favorite after Wishes; I don't care for Illuminations at all and we've not stayed for it for years). She must have since she wouldn't budge on sharing.

And I TOTALLY plan on hitting the Gurgling Suitcase A LOT my trip :thumbsup2

YAY! You are going to love it there.

Wow, I'm not a huge calamari fan, but yours looked delicious!

I love calamari; I don't order it often because the last two times Mark ate it he got very ill (I think he's willing to try it again now that he has had his gallbladder out...thinking that might have been part of the problem).

And that cupcake! I can't believe you didn't even get a nibble. My girls would have licked all the frosting off and handed me the soggy cupcake.

Ewwww....I remember when my boys used to do that, Clare. :rotfl:

Sorry you missed Fantasmic, but sounds like calling it a night early was the
best decision.

I was happy doing whatever the girls wanted.

Good luck in Vegas! Hope you win big!

Thanks; I did win. :)

I ate at Mama Melrose for the first time in March, and really liked it! Thought it was very tasty. Avery would not share her dessert?! It looked good!

Katie, I'm glad you enjoyed Mama Melrose. I'm not sure why it gets such a bad rap.

I hope you and Mark have a wonderful time in Vegas. Safe travels!

Thank you...we did. :)

Hi Kathy
I think I've caught up

:wave2: Linda; glad you are cuaght up.

Love seeing the photos from Ireland :-)

Thanks; glad you enjoyed them. I'm waiting for Des to make her CD...she took over 2000 photos.

We haven't eaten at Mama Melrose for years but really enjoy it in there so we must get back some day

I hope you do. I had it on the schedule for September but ended up cancelling it. :(

Hope you have a blast in Vegas!

We did...thanks.

Have a great trip to Vegas! Win big and share the winnings...okay? ;)

I won, but not big enough to share...thanks to my husband. :rolleyes1

We usually enjoy our meals at Mama Melrose's (with the exception of the one time we had a smarty pants waitress) and the Fantasmic Package is the way to go. So, little Miss Avery didn't want to share did she? Can't say that I blame her since that cupcake looked pretty delish.

I vaguely remember the story about that waitress, Lisa. I guess I should have just ordered my own cupcake.

I have never seen Fantasmic at WDW only, I need to check it out next trip :) enjoy Vegas!!

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I'm surprised for as many times as you have been there. Thanks, we did enjoy Vegas.

Kathy, I"m glad you enjoyed Mama Melrose and the Fantasmic dining package. I thought by "Disney" standards it was a good value. Everyone in my party enjoyed it a lot except of course me. I thought my Chicken Parmesan was just average... very Olive Garden you may say. I will write it up as just a bad day for them.

Bob, sorry you didnt' enjoy your dinner there. Yes, I agree it is pretty much Olive Garden (although in my opinion a tad better). I'm not a particular fan of Chicken Parmesan to begin with. I know Mark had it one year and said it was just okay.

Can't say that I don't blame Avery for not sharing that cupcake. It looked pretty amazing and I"m not so sure I wold be willing to share it with anyone either. :rotfl:

I may have to go back just to have that darn cupcake. But I wonder if they'd let me...it was on the kids menu.

I'm with you about the American Idol Experience. I have never been a big fan of the show. However back when it opened in 2009 Carolyn (she can sure sing) wanted to try the AI firsthand and competed. She made it past the judges and onto one of the performances in the afternoon. She did not win, but it was neat for her. Only problem is that it tied up hours of our day and Alyssa didn't vote for her mom because she didn't want it dragging out into the final show that evening. :lmao: And as they always say on the DIS, if there is no picture then it didn't happen. :rotfl2:

My have we all changed here. There is less of me, the same of Carolyn and a much taller and older Alyssa. LOL

That's funny that your DD didn't vote for her mom. I hardly recognize you in that picture, Bob! I continue to be so proud of you.

Funny that you mentioned you decided to pass on Fantasmic. We almost did the same thing on our Studios day, but this time we decided to stay even though we were tired. Our first time at DHS the line was way to long and we passed. The other time we were going to see it the show was cancelled due to storms. We had never seen Fantasmic and this time we stuck it out.

And???? What did you think of it?

The pictures of Galway from the kids is gorgeous. I am so wanting to go over there but highly doubt that is going to happen... At least not anytime soon. :sad1:

They still are talking nonstop about the trip (well, when not talking about the apartment they are moving into in 15 days). They had a blast!

Have a wonderful time in Vegas and enjoy the time with Mark. :thumbsup2

Thank you...we did.

Kathy, also thank you for the thoughts and prayers you posted on FB concerning my nephew and his auto accident. He is in the fight of his life right now and your thoughts and prayers are very comforting... Thank you my friend.

No thanks needed. How is he doing?

I hope your time in Vegas is great!

It was...thank you. :)

I've never had Mama Melrose. It's just never been a big draw for me. In fact, there really aren't any sit down restaurants in Hollywood Studios that I'm really interested in. I've eaten at Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time Cafe and have just been satisfied with them. Maybe I need to try Mama Melrose and change it up a bit.

We did NOT like 50's Prime Time at all; we go to Sci-Fi every other year...as long as we stick to burgers and onion rings (hated the Brown Derby the one time we went). We tend to NOT eat at the Studios if we can avoid it.

I got a little behind. Caught up now. :) Beer in Ireland seems totally appropriate! Of course DH would say it is appropriate anywhere. :rotfl: The pics of Ireland are beautiful! I am sure they are having a great time. Traveling to another country is an awesome experience.

I asked Andy if he regretted it after the fiasco with Garth cancelling the concert. He said NOPE...he'd go again in a heartbeat. :)

ToT and TSM...Love them both. 2 times on ToT...awesomeness!

TOT is by far my favorite!

I have never eaten at MM but, I wonder if you can get those Pina Colada's to go? I love those with the raspberry. Boy, that cupcake looked good...no wonder she would not share. :goodvibes

Good question! I may investigate that in September. I bet you can get one at the lounge at 50's though! I believe it was called a "Spaghetti Cupcake."

Looks like Cayley's feeling the effects of that late night the night before. (It was the night before, right?)

Yes, it was the night before. Trust me, I may not have mentioned it, but I had several coffees to keep me going.

Did you get to see the warm-up guy at American Idol? I thought he was the best part of the show!

We caught the tail end of it...we got in shortly before the show was going to start.

Oh my goodness!! That cupcake is adorable!!!

It was, wasn't it?

How nice of you to pass off your F tickets :goodvibes

That is the one thing I miss about the new FP system; can't pixie dust someone.

Hi Kathy
I think I've caught up, 5 pages behind again.

No worries; I got behind just after a short weekend away.

Love seeing the photos from Ireland :-) So beautiful!

It sure it; and Andy said it wasn't so bad driving on the "wrong side" of the road.

We did the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose last year and thought it was pretty good. We are going to Sci Fi this year to try it again since we haven't been there for quite a few years. Hopefully it's ok. Not many choices in HS and I will not be going to 50's again anytime soon. Awful experience last time.

Stay away from the pasta, etc. Stick with burgers, reubens, onion rings and shakes and you'll be fine. We like them there. We were not pleased with 50's either and won't be back.

I agree with you for American Idol, I watched the first couple of seasons but then was bored. We watched the experience in Disney and said we could care less if we go again. I guess it would be different if you knew someone on stage. I too love the Voice but more for Adam, but Blake is soooo funny! popcorn::

I just love the back and forth between Adam and Blake...they crack me up!

I said this already but I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip with Mark! Enjoy your time away, and good luck!! :wizard:

Thank you; we had a great time.

Have a great trip to Vegas!

Thanks; we did.

Also, drinking and Disney go hand-in-hand, especially if you stay at OKW and have the Suitcase at your disposal!

Who doesn't love OKW and the Suitcase? :goodvibes

Found ya! I've read through all updates so far, and I do agree, those girls are pretty darn cute! :cutie:

Sheresa, so happy to have you here. :welcome:

I saw the pics from the Ireland trip on FB, they are simply gorgeous!

Thanks; I will try to share more later if Des will let me borrow the CD.

That dessert that Avery had looked so so good. Like, I'm salivating right now.

I could go for one of those right about now too.

Enjoying all the updates from across the pond......here AND on FB! Hope you have a great trip to Vegas!!!

Thanks, Marv. We had a wonderful time, but good to be back home too (Vegas has gotten a lot "odder" since the last time I was there).

Hi Kathy! I'm all caught up! Hope you and Mark have a great time on your trip.

Thanks, Mark. We had a great trip. I'm so glad you've started your TR.

Yahh, I found the TR and now I am all caught up. It looks like a really fun trip so far!

:welcome::welcome: thank you so much for joining. It was a great trip and continues to be. :)

The girls and I did the American Idol show when it was a soft opening. Actually, I am not even sure it was soft... it was more of a "hey you, would you like to come in and see" sort of deal before it was open to the public. I haven't been back since. Obviously I wasn't terribly impressed.

Obviously. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sometimes you just have to give up on a planned activity. That is one reason I really miss the hard fast passes... you can give them away.

We did a lot of that, and I'm sure Mark and I will be doing it too. Yes, I agree; I miss not being able to give away our unused FP's.

have fun in Vegas!!!

We did...thanks Ann.

Star Tours makes me sick too, and in two days I rode that puppy like 10 times with my boys, I learned if I close my eyes it isn't too bad. :thumbsup2

You are one awesome Mom! I'll try closing my eyes in September and see if it helps.

Love all the fun photos of the girls with the chip n dale hat, cupcakes, etc.

Thank you. :)

Your meal looks yummy, my kids have yet to see Fantasmic, I've seen it, my little one is scared to see it. :confused3

I can see where it might be scary for little ones.

Loving the Ireland pictures, so beautiful. Hope you are having fun in Vegas.

Thank you...they really enjoyed Ireland, and we had fun with friends in Vegas.

I want a cupcake now! :rotfl2:

Me too!

I have not seen Fantasmic yet either!

I can't believe how many people have not seen it.

Got all caught up again!!

:yay:...glad you are caught up, Katt.

Looks like a great afternoon! love the girl's smiley shirts! cute!

That was a treat they picked out from me at the mismatched store at DTD.

I have to agree phillharmagic is superior to muppets! although it is a fun time, that's for sure!

Yes, agreed; I just wish they would have added something to Muppets while it was down.

I must try mama melrose's we usually skip meals in dhs and go over to the bw area, haha! That cupcake looks delicious, that's for sure! And if she wasn't sharing I'm sure it was great!

We usually do Beaches & Cream or a dinner somewhere not at the Studios ourselves. I'm guessing it was that good...she finished the whole thing.

How amazing that you gave your fantasmic passes away, nice to know that people can still give some magic away with fp+

It was the package and the only reason we had tickets.

Have fun on your trip and I hope it's amazing and full of fun!

Thank you...we did and it was a lot of fun.

That pulled pork looks good. It was wonderful.

Nice pics in front of the hat. Thanks, Scott.

Nice pics on TOT.
Nice pics on Star Tours.

Thanks.

We need to try Mama Melrose again.

I like it for every couple of trips.

The drinks looked good.

Yummy they were.

Pretty pics from Ireland.
I am all caught up again.

Thanks; the kids got some great shots.

Welcome home!! So sorry to hear you came home with a cold though, not fun! Get better soon!

Thanks Wendy. I hate summer colds.

Welcome home! I am finally all caught up. Love the Ireland pics and the updates.

Thanks...I'm glad you enjoyed them.

We were in the back row too; I remember having to hold on so I wouldn't be thrown all over the place. I would just tell them you don't want the back row!

Welcome home. Sorry it had to come with a cold.

Me too. :(

Sorry to hear about the summer cold. I hate getting them myself. Come to think of it, I hate a cold anytime of the year. LOL... After our trip to WDW in June the next day at home I had the sore throat and stuffy nose thing as well. I hope you are feeling better soon. ;)

I swear that they need to de-sanitize those planes better or something. I've read of so many people coming home sick from trips.

Kathy, hope that you are feeling better today!

Thanks, Lisa. It's getting there, but still annoying.

Welcome back! Hope you had a great trip! Sorry to hear you came back with the dreaded summer cold. Try and get some rest and feel better fast!

We did have a great trip, thank you. I plan on sleeping until at least 10 tomorrow.

Welcome Back! :goodvibes So sorry you caught a summer cold, those are the worst. Hope you get feeling better quickly

Thanks...appreciate it.

Welcome back! Hope you had fun. Sorry about the cold, though. Summer colds are the worst.

Yes they are. I just want to stop coughing for more than 10 minutes in a row.

Hope you are feeling better :)

Thanks, Lori.

Feel better soon!

Thank you. :)

Hope you are feeling better Kathy. The pictures from your kids Ireland trip are beautiful. Looks like they are having a wonderful trip!

They really did enjoy their trip. I think they are talking of doing another European trip next year if they can swing it (with Cancun in October of this year and almost two full weeks in Orlando in December it may or may not happen).

I hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks, Jen.

Checking in on you...

You are a sweet friend, thanks Mo. I'm better, but not a whole lot.

Thanks for bearing with me since we left last Thursday. This cold really knocked me out.

I tried to catch up on everyone else's threads and I may have one or two more after more updates were added. :lmao: Between work and going to bed at 8:30, I've not had time to update mine.

BUT I promise an update tonight now that I've done responses. In the meantime, a little life update.

Our attorneys insisted on going back to Mark's former job and they've agreed to a bit more money. Not what we asked, but enough that we are happy.

Andy and Des are back from Ireland. They had a blast and loved every minute of it. They are in the process of packing. They officially move to their new apartment on August 23.

Mark and I have a SPECIAL DIS meet planned later this month. But I've decided NOT to tell you who it is. You'll have to wait until after the fact and see the picture. But I am very excited about this meet.

We had a great time in Vegas. We saw friends we've not seen in 12 years (they owned the bar where Mark and I used to work). We had a full day with Mary and Jeff (it felt strange not having the kids there), and we had two partial days with friends of ours from here...I served on the football board with Steve for years. We also went to the Fashion Mall and guess where our ONLY purchase was! The Disney Store of course. Two t-shirts for $25.00. :)

Here are a few pics from Vegas to tie you over until I get to the update on the TR tonight.

Our friends we have not seen in 12 years -- Cathy and Tony
