I Am NOT a Bad, Bad Baby -- TR final updates 9/12

The idea of the balloon in memory of your Dad is a cool idea.

Thanks, Emma.

I love your idea of giving away a balloon in memory of your dad and I think a great idea to get them for the girls this trip

Thanks, MaxRebo.

Having an adult beverage pool side is definitely my idea of vacation - and getting to do that after a full day at a Disney Park is pretty much ideal :goodvibes

Can't think of a better scenario myself (well, maybe winning the lotto so I could do it all the time at Disney).

I was a couple updates behind, so I'll comment on both of them!

The dueling picture after PotC is adorable, as are the Dumbo ride pictures. I'm so glad you got to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, I really enjoyed that one too. You're right that it isn't a thrill ride at all, but very well made and goes perfectly in Fantasyland.

Thanks, Steph. I'm glad you enjoyed the Mine Train too.

I'm sure Avery and Cayley appreciated you mending your tradition slightly to have them receive the balloons, and I'm sure your Dad didn't mind at all either! :goodvibes

They enjoyed their balloons (although we had to ban them to the bathroom in the evening because they kept hitting the way with the fan on).

Aww, Kathy, I don't think, I know, your Dad was smiling at the fact that you bought the girls a balloon. That's so sweet of you to do in your Dad's memory.

Thanks, Lisa. I'm sure he was. :)

I haven't followed your past trips so I didn't know about the balloon thing but that is just the sweetest thing to do. What a great way to honor your dad.

I'll give you a quick recap, Amber. My dad passed away 6 years ago this coming August a week before Mark's and my 25th anniversary trip (it was not unexpected). Dad always bought our two boys balloons wherever we went...park, circus, carnival, zoo, Disney, etc. In order to honor his memory and my missing him, I started giving a balloon away each trip to a child in his memory as I knew in my heart he would like his tradition to continue. It was very difficult the first trip since it had only been about two weeks since his passing, but each trip, I can do it a little easier without the tears, but with smiles of my fond memories of my dad.

Ice cream is the right way to end the day. Or an adult beverage ;) Either way, good choices. Except now I want a mickey bar :(

Hmmm....maybe next time I should do a Mickey Bar AND an adult beverage.

Whattayaknow...I'm caught up.

 Glenn...good to see you.

Old Key West looks really lovely in the couple of pictures you posted of the buildings. :thumbsup2

It is a lovely resort; I think I'll have more pictures later on (although I know I've posted them in previous TR's).

Ahhh, so now I know where the TR title comes from. Poor Avery, with you two picking on her. ;)

It was all in fun and it was her idea to title the TR on that story. :)

I'm glad that Avery got to get into BBB, and hooray for the mine train!

It was Cayley, but I knew what you meant. LOVED being able to do the Mine Train two days after it's official open.

Okay, super late to the party, but I am finally sitting down to read it all and get myself all caught up!!

:banana: you are here. Thanks for coming. :)

Love the intro’s, and yay for competitive gymnast!! I miss that stuff!! Also props to being able to do back springs at 7!! I lost that skill a few years ago, bahahah! Hope the kids stick with it and really do enjoy it! It was definitely my favorite thing growing up and I was actually at an event watching my MOM perform the last few days! Lol.

Thank you. I've watched the videos of the girls in action...so fun to watch. Your MOM still does gymnastics? That is awesome!

15 minutes to get through everything! AWESOME!

Nice job!

LOVE OKW, seriously!! It was my first dvc resort that I rented at & I absolutely loved it there and hope I can stay there again sometime soon!

It really has become our "new" home (and we don't even own DVC). We are mixing it up in September but I know we'll be back at OKW the next visit.

Looks like a lovely evening at MK to kick off the trip!

The weather was perfect, the crowds weren't too bad. Yep, it was lovely.

I actually REALLY like the mermaid look on the kids, I wonder, is there an age limit on that one? Lol!! I know there’s one at BBB, but not sure about PL and it’s definitely something I would do when I’m down there for a bit! Lol.

I saw someone who had to have been at least 18 getting it done while we were there and a newly engaged couple had the gentleman getting it done. So I'm guessing there is no age limit. Go for it girl!

And lunch!! That’s somewhere else I would love to eat, it’s on my list!!

Well worth it...so very good.

Looks like a great meet with the frozen girls! Love the hug picture with aurora! Awwee!! She looks SO HAPPY to be transformed into a princess! Brings tears to my eyes!! The girls look so beautiful!

We loved Ana and Elsa and Aurora was very sweet too. The girls did rock their looks that day.

YUM! Everything about CHH looks delicious! Can’t wait to eat there again! Ah that dumbo bag is super cute!! Ah mine train!! Glad ya’ll got on it!! Alright! All caught up, excited to read more!!

Love CHH; D makes terrific bags and I had requested Dumbo because it is hubby's favorite and he does all the work to afford our trips. The Mine train was awesome. Thanks again for being here.

Great day Kathy
Glad you got to ride 7DMT, we got to ride a couple of times last month

Thanks, Linda. I'm glad you got on the 7DMT too. Did you like it! We loved it.

Was it a Turtle Crawl you enjoyed .... I hope so!

Absolutely!!!!

It was now our second full day (Saturday, May 31) and one of Avery's favorite days of the trip because of the park we were going to.

I was up first, made coffee, took a shower and then everyone else got up and got ready. We had some donuts for breakfast and some cereal (hey, we're on vacation!).

We walked to our bus stop and waited for a bus. I think it was just about 10 minutes until our bus pulled up:

And where we were headed? To Avery's favorite park:

Our first destination of the day was this way:

We had quite the way even in the FP line. We had been texting back and forth with our very special DIS meet person for after the ride which they were currently on. It seems there were some problems with a stoppage in the road caused by my beautiful giraffes.

And then we were in the line here:

Here we go:

Animals:

Can you tell I love giraffes? Enough pictures of giraffes? Nope...don't think so.

Continued in next post

More animals:

We'd been texting on the ride, in between taking pictures, our DIS meet friend and family. They were walking the trails and would meet us at the end of the exit. We found a bench and sat down. We had no sooner sat down and we saw them. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

This is a DIS meet I had been looking forward to for a long time. The few times Mark and I had gone in May (or our previous girls trip in May) we had just missed by days. Mary and the girls had already met this lovely lady and her family, and now I was finally getting my chance.

Okay, do you want to know who it was? Or should I prolong it a little further?

We met Lisa (mickeystoontown) and her husband John and son Hunter.

If you've not read Lisa's TR's, you should. Her family is a hoot. And in typical fashion, Hunter needed a "selfie."

But we did get a nice group picture too.

Lisa, it was such a treat meeting you. You are just as lovely as you are in your TR's, and your family is a blast. But we aren't done with you yet (although I'm not sure there's another picture).

Up next, Hunter gets talked into doing an attraction with Cayley and Avery.

Love, love, love that safari! :cheer2: It's just the best, isn't it? And I agree with you about the giraffes - they are so cute!

The selfie with Hunter is adorable! How fun! Glad you had another successful/fun DIS meet. :thumbsup2

The girls don't look to happy on the bus! Luvin all the safari pics and the pics from the dis meet

Hunter can snap a mean selfie :goodvibes Awesome!!! :cool1: Your AK pics are great!!! And  I love the balloon for Dad

Awesome dis meet! I am reading Lisa's trip report right now and they seem hilarious.

I like Hunter's selfie, that takes some skill to accomplish :rotfl:

I remember the two of us texting back and forth. We sat on that darn safari Jeep for 50 forevers just waiting on those giraffes to get their behinds off the road. At least they had the decency to stick around so we could see them when it was our turn to drive by.

Ya'll were just sitting there waiting on us and I couldn't help but run over and give ya'll hugs! Even though we had been friends on the Dis for years, it was so very nice to actually meet you and see Mary and the girls again.

That Hunter...what can I say about that boy? He is such a sweetheart and a hoot to boot.

I love the balloon in memory of your dad! Great tradition!

Nice safari pics! Giraffes and elephants are my favorites.

Glad you had a good Dis meet!

I Love the Balloon giving !! Christine does that in memory of her son too!!! I did one trip tht she was unable to make and the look on the little boys face was priceless !!

Okay, I've been away for a few days but I'm back and all caught up!

First of all, sorry about Mark's situation. Please let him know we will be thinking about him and keeping you all in our prayers. Hope things work out for the best.

Great updates! And what a great sentiment to give balloons to the girls as you exited Magic Kingdom! Being a long time reader of your trip reports, I know all about the tradition....and this almost made me cry. I know your father would be proud! :goodvibes

Old Key West looks like such a lovely place! That's pretty cool that you all had went for a snack by the pool.

Ahh...Animal Kingdom day! I love that the girls are all still made up from the previous day. Heck yeah! Keep that alive as long as it will last!

Oh my goodness!!! SOOOOO jealous!!! A meet between many of my DISboard friends at the same time I was there...and yet I wasn't there! That is wonderful that you all got to meet Lisa and her family! (mickeystoontown) That's a great DIS meet photo! ::yes:: It always makes me happy to see DIS meets, but especially those when I feel like I'm friends with both parties!

Still loving every minute of the trip report Kathy and Mary!

Oh GOOD FOR YOU!!! Great Dis meet!! So happy you were able to meet your friends..

And now going over to mickeystoontown to read!!! :cool1:

Love the Safari... And you can never have too many animal pictures.

YAY!! for a DISmeet! Love Hunter's selfie -- I've always liked pictures where you can see the reflection in someone's sunglasses.

I can see the girls enjoyed their makeovers from the previous day as they still had much of the make-up on :)

love all the animal pics and the giraffes are definitely the most consistent great part of the safari!

Yeah for DISmeets! Especially one you were so looking forward to!

You have wonderful luck on the safaris! I always feel like we are the people who are looking at a bush that could or could not be hiding an unknown animal!:confused3:rotfl2: We had a bit better luck this time, but not as good as you!!

Love your Dis meet!! Fun!! I realized after my impromptu meet with Lisa and family that we didn't get a photo! What was I thinking!?

Yay for AK! It's definitely up there with Mk to be my favourite!! Love the theming there so much, it's just such a different world from the other parks imo! And yay for dismeets!! :cool1:

I'm with Avery when it comes to AK....... It might be my overall favorite too! :goodvibes It might not be as ride and attraction intensive in the "typical" sense, but there is so much to explore and discover if you take full advantage of the park......... and the attractions are never quite the same because of the animals. ....... so you always get the feel of a new experience. :thumbsup2

What? No giraffe pics??? :confused3 :rotfl2: I love the picture of the three-legged warthog. ::yes::

Looks like you had a great DISmeet with Lisa and her family. Lisa reminds me a lot of my sister. ...... when she was younger. :) My sister. ... Not Lisa :rotfl:

As most of you know, on Mark's and my annual trip, I buy a balloon in memory of my late Dad and give it to a child as we leave the park to go home. I thought for this trip, I'd treat the girls to a balloon...I knew dad would be smiling from heaven for that

Great tradition, and even better when you can do this for a child you love.

We had quite the way even in the FP line. We had been texting back and forth with our very special DIS meet person for after the ride which they were currently on. It seems there were some problems with a stoppage in the road caused by my beautiful giraffes.

Were they eating the tourists again?

Can you tell I love giraffes? Enough pictures of giraffes? Nope...don't think so.

Giraffes? Where? I didn't notice. :confused3:rotfl2:

Okay, do you want to know who it was? Or should I prolong it a little further?

:hyper:

We met Lisa (mickeystoontown) and her husband John and son Hunter.

If you've not read Lisa's TR's, you should. Her family is a hoot. And in typical fashion, Hunter needed a "selfie."

Cool! They look like a lot of fun. I haven't read her TR's yet but have seen her around on the boards.
