Jeanette, Hunter just cracked me up. Thanks...it was fun getting the girls balloons.
I love it when DIS kids get to meet and do things together. They don't seem to think their parents and other adults are crazy - they just know they have the green light to have fun with these new stranger-friends.![]()
As most of you know, on Mark's and my annual trip, I buy a balloon in memory of my late Dad and give it to a child as we leave the park to go home. I thought for this trip, I'd treat the girls to a balloon...I knew dad would be smiling from heaven for that
What? Really? No way!Can you tell I love giraffes?
Ok, I tend to think selfies are a bit played out an over rated... but well done, Hunter. That is a great picture. If you've not read Lisa's TR's, you should. Her family is a hoot. And in typical fashion, Hunter needed a "selfie."
I really thought this was going to be your way of backing out of EE.Up next, Hunter gets talked into doing an attraction with Cayley and Avery.
I love it when DIS kids get to meet and do things together. They don't seem to think their parents and other adults are crazy - they just know they have the green light to have fun with these new stranger-friends.
Being that I don't have little ones anymore, I've seen this through Avery and Cayley. I remember when we first told our kids we were meeting Nicki on Marco Island; they said, "Mom, she could be an axe murderer."
I've had some of the counter service Yak & Yeti food, but we have an ADR for the real deal on this coming trip. I am looking forward to getting pictures of the only AK restaurant we have not eaten in.
Nice end to your day: Balloons for the girls, yummy snacks and drinks at the pool.
It truly was a great end.
Goodnight!
And Good Morning!
Your DISmeet was EPIC!!! DIS Royalty as far as the eye could see. I haven't met any of you, but your heart comes through in both of your trip reports. I'm sure that it was very special when you were all together. That is awesome that Hunter went on PW with the girls. Great picture when they were done.
Thanks, Dee. Lisa is very popular and definitely DIS royalty. Awww...thanks for the sweet words. I just try to do my TR's honest and with as much love as I have for the trips. It was so fun meeting all of Lisa's family, and Hunter was a sweetie for doing the ride with them (and giving Miss Kathy a break).
We had one great meal at Yak & Yeti, but it has been 6 years since we have eaten there. Wow- that's probably too long.
:
How nice that Hunter rode the "Rosie Ride" with the girls.Hard to believe you can do Everest and Primeval Whirl has that affect on you though.
Hunter was a true sweetie. I hate EVEREST! I only gave in to Avery. However, after this last trip she was told it will the last time I do it with her...she's on her own now.
I love Yak and Yeti! What a great place to eat......I've always enjoyed my meals there!![]()
Somehow I thought I had posted on some of your updates, but I guess I didn't.Anyhow, I'll post on these last two updates....
No worries.
Love the safari pictures, we have been pretty lucky with animal sightings on our trips, the only thing we've never seen is the Lions awakeThey are always sleeping. Since you love giraffes, I'll tell you we got a video of one of the kid giraffe's running (what is a kid giraffe called? do they have a special name?)
We usually are too; but, like you, have never seen the lions awake. I believe a kid giraffe is called a calf. You lucky gal! I would have loved to have seen that.
Looks like a super fun DIS meet. So nice of Hunter to ride with the girls.
It really was. We had a lot of fun together.
Have never really been interested in Yak and Yeti, but your plates look yummy, I may have to look at that menu again.
I didn't think I'd like it, but I fell in love with the food there.
Can't wait to see what else your day holds
Hope to finish out the day after dinner tonight or tomorrow.
Happy 4th
Great dismeet...
Thanks!
Yak & Yeti, we are trying there for the first time this trip in September. Hope it's as good as it looks?
I really love it; we've probably eaten there a total of four times now and never had a bad meal.
Pina Colada...yummy, my fav!!
I LOVE Pina Coladas (and I hate coconut...so go figure).
Great update...thanks for sharing!
I only ate there once !!! I ad the shrimp and beef , it was just okay but the fried wonton dessert was delish!!! I have to try it again and try something different as my entrée !!
HAPPY JULY 4TH KATHY!
I hope you and the family had a great one, Lisa.
I didn't even notice that John was "in" the picture too! Didn't even notice that before. I wonder why we didn't think to get John in the "real" picture? Probably giddy that we were finally meeting up.
It dawned on me after our second run in that we hadn't gotten John in the picture. And we really didn't get Hunter except for his selfie.
I haven't gotten to my Animal Kingdom pictures yet to see if the picture that I snapped of the kids on Primeval Whirl turned out. Remember me standing on that tire/rock/whatever it was trying to get a picture of them?
I was more worried that you were going to fall off of it.
Yak & Yeti huh? It's never even been on our radar but the food looks really really good.
Oh my gosh....we LOVE Yak & Yeti SO much! I swear it is the one place that all four of us INSIST on when we are at Animal Kingdom. I think we've eaten here four times now and every single time it was a hit!
A Yak and Yeti lunch. Yum, yum!!!
Yum Yum is right; we went to PF Changs last night because I was craving pot stickers and crab wontons.
Can't wait for more ..... (now that I have nearly caught up with all my threads, only a few more to go)
Y&Y has the best theming. I have only eaten there once, so I think its time for a return visit!
I agree; one of the best themed restaurants in all of Disney (Beauty & the Beast gets the edge); yes, I think a return visit is definitely in order.
So great that Hunter rode Primeval whirl with the girls!
Never enough giraffe pictures! I love them too, they're gorgeous. They amaze me for such a tall animal what grace they seem to have walking.Yay for Dismeets with Lisa, John, and Hunter! Great group pic, but I especially love Hunter's selfie. It was so much fun meeting them after all these years.
That was very nice of him to take the girls on Primeval Hurl!I couldn't agree more.

Yummy, I love Yak & Yeti.
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
How fun that you were able to meet up with Lisa, John, and Hunter. And how awesome of Hunter to ride with the girls!
There are lots of DISers I hope to meet eventually, but Lisa and I had been talking for a very long time so I was very happy that it happened. Hunter was a doll.
Mmmm. Yak and Yeti. I love it there!
So cool that he did the ride with the girls
My DD doesn't want to do Dinosaur, so DH is taking her on Primeval Whirl..this is their first time. The wait is always long, and the girls were never tall enough before. Yak and Yeti looks yummy, we are probably going to do Flame Tree CS

I absolutely LOVE yak & yeti!! It's definitely one of my top fave restaurants on disney property!! The food quality is so amazing, so many choices, the ambiance is great, and in May they were able to sub in tofu to pretty much any dish for Jenna which of course we loved!
Nice AK morning and lunch at Yak and Yeti. I have enjoyed all my meals there and look forward to more.
another vote for Y&Y.
Great DISmeet with Lisa and Hunter. How nice that Hunter took the girls on PW.![]()
I agree! My kids never even bat an eye when we have Dis Meets whether planned or impromptu.
Hey Kathy,
Just caught up. I can not seem to think were all my time is going, but it hasn't been were it should be, here dissing.
Summer will do that to you. Just happy to see you.
Looks like you are still having a blast. And I enjoy reading every update. Looks like the girls are enjoying themselves. I am so glad they got their makeovers. They both came out looking great. Yay for meeting Lisa and Hunter. I need to go play catch up on her report too.
Just checkin' in on all my Dis Friends !!!
Hi Kathy! Still catching up! Cayley makes a beautiful Ariel, and I love Avery's mermaid do! Wasn't the pirate experience fun?
Hi, Tammie. How is that new grandson? The girls looked great! I really enjoyed that pirate experience...it was a lot of fun.
I love giraffes! The spots on this one are very different.
Yes they are now that you mention it.
So glad you got to meet up with Mickeystoontown and fam! It was really sweet of John to ride PW with the girls!
Me too; it had been a long time coming. And Hunter did not hesitate to say yes to the girls.
Yak and Yehti is great! It's a great break from the heat during the day, and your drink looks especially refreshing!
Thanks, Andy.
What? Really? No way!
Shush now!
Ok, I tend to think selfies are a bit played out an over rated... but well done, Hunter. That is a great picture.![]()
I agree (plus I am terrible at them), but I'm so glad Hunter got this one...I think it's great!
I really thought this was going to be your way of backing out of EE.![]()
No, unfortunately, I had to ride that on our second visit to AK.
Hunter seems like a good kid. It was nice of him to take them on primeval hurl. I'm glad the adults had a few minutes to sit and chat while they were riding.![]()
If you haven't tried the cream cheese wontons at Yak and Yeti, try them next time! They are way up there on my favorite deserts at Disney list. Probably in the top three, right up there with the bread pudding at 'Ohana!
I hope all is going well with you and your family!
My mom is home, but I don't know for how long. She may have to go to a short term rehab facility and depending on her next doctor's visit, into a Nursing Home. Physically she is doing okay (issues, but nothing major at the moment; she does have cancer, but it is very small at the moment), but mentally she is not there and I'm not sure how long my brother can handle her.
Mark: he had a rough night sleeping last night, but he sounded okay when I talked to him this morning (he was sleeping when I left). The severance package is unacceptable and I have my attorneys looking at it to see if there is an age discrimination suit. As of now, Mark will take the summer off unless something spectacular comes up. I think he needs some time to regroup and just relax. He's been so stressed since last October with the job. There is one opportunity that might come up in our area; we have Todd keeping his eyes open in Florida for him.
We are NOT cancelling either of our trips...we go to Vegas in August. It was supposed to be his business trip, but friends of ours here are going to be there the same weekend and Mary and Jeff (yep, our Mary of Mary and the girls) are going to be there, so we are still going. I had miles for both of our airfares and we are looking at cheap hotels. We are also not cancelling Florida. 1) we rented DVC and can't get our money back and 2) I'm not missing seeing Nicki and Todd. I did cancel a couple of the more expensive ADR's -- Flying Fish and Yachtsman which I didn't want to do, but figured we would just go with cheaper meals.
We will be fine through the end of the year without having to go into his 401 or anything; yes, we'll have to cut back a little on the frills, but we won't go homeless.
Everyone was finished eating except for AVERY! Avery is NOT much of an eater at all. Mary told her we weren't going to any rides until she ate her yogurt since she didn't want the fruit. Avery was being a 10 year old who didn't want to eat anymore when I put yogurt on the spoon and said "come on Avery, I want to ride rides...take a little nibble." And Avery proceeded to spit it out. I wish someone had caught a picture of it. It was absolutely hysterical. She had yogurt running down her face and her mom, Mary, then said: Avery you are a "Bad Bad Baby." This became a running joke throughout the rest of the trip.
This is a DIS meet I had been looking forward to for a long time. The few times Mark and I had gone in May (or our previous girls trip in May) we had just missed by days. Mary and the girls had already met this lovely lady and her family, and now I was finally getting my chance.
Okay, do you want to know who it was? Or should I prolong it a little further?
We met Lisa (mickeystoontown) and her husband John and son Hunter.
If you've not read Lisa's TR's, you should. Her family is a hoot. And in typical fashion, Hunter needed a "selfie."
But we did get a nice group picture too.
Lisa, it was such a treat meeting you. You are just as lovely as you are in your TR's, and your family is a blast. But we aren't done with you yet (although I'm not sure there's another picture).
Up next, Hunter gets talked into doing an attraction with Cayley and Avery.
