I am mad and no idea what to do?

I sent the GM an email a few days ago--have never heard back. And I emailed the lady back who was originally emailing me-and she never responded again. (and yes, I was being very nice) So I guess they really dont care.

Everything you say is true. However, this is Orlando and not SF or NYC. I have never had a problem getting two beds in Orlando on my many, many Priceline stays. I did, however, receive a single QUEEN bed in Chicago once. My DD wasn't with us on that stay, so we were fine. Personally, I wouldn't worry about not getting two beds in Orlando if you use Priceline.

Poster is a family of 5. Even in Orlando I wouldn't risk using PL for one room.

Using PL for a family of 4 is very low risk, but a handful of posters were assigned a K HA room and had problems. The hotel was sold out and was, rightly, giving preferences to other guests.

I'm not sure I'd use PL for a 3* hotel. Consolidators like hotelkingdom have good rates. With Pl you have to pay a fee and a potential "resort" fee. Book conventionally and you can pick a suite type of property or even get a free breakfast.

Hotel Royal should book you at a property that meets the occupancy rules of the hotel. If your reservation was for a group of 5 then they may have to book you in two rooms if the standard room is only suitable for 4. Now if your original reservation wasn't made for 5 guests you're probably stuck just getting a refund.

I sent a very nice e-mail asking what I was to do and why I had not yet been notified--my reservation was made in January for July 4th weekend. No one from the hotel had contacted me and I learned of the change in dates by browsing on this forum. I was emailed back within 24 hours and the situation was explained to me. Prior to the email I phoned the hotel and was given not quite correct information. My situation was cleared up--I had the reservation cancelled and rebooked with Dreams for POR. I still can't believe they were able to pull it off with an AP discount no less.
The problem withthe relocation is that we would be placed in whatever they had available for us since that hotel needs to honor prior reservations that were made by guests wanting to stay withthem. Contact wgreen@royalplaza.com and calmly ask what they plan on doing with you. Though it stated that you would be charged for one night your card was not charged and the CC was only to hold your reservation and pay for the first night should you be a no show.

Try to make a reservation for the swan/dolphin using the code INT10. Its the code for the 5oth celebration. I made it for a standard room and got a rate of $157 they offered me more deluxe rooms at drastically reduced rates. Hope that may help.

I'm sorry that you have having so much trouble with your hotel smfritz03. I cannot imagine that the manager would not be able to fix this.

Another alternative to PriceLine is Hotel Kingdom . We used them a couple of years ago. We got Hampton West for our first night, then moved to the Poly. We were very pleased with the Hotel Kingdom deal and the hotel.

PD your way!

Thanks for all the advice!! We are booked now at ASMo now--just got 2 rooms w/ AAA discount and it isnt a whole lot more than what I was paying--and now I am less the rental car for our time down there--so it turned out to be a blessing! Now I am even more psyched and I know the kids will love it that much more!

But I am not happy w/ the Hotel Royal Plaza---they have not budged on anything and are not returning my last emails. I even emailed the GM just to let him know the situation--and of course--no return email to say sorry or anything. Overall--I didnt expect them to put me in a suite--but 2 rooms wouldve been the same space as a suite instead of just a standard (if i wanted a standard to begin w/, thats what i would have booked) and a sorry would be great too--but no--they wouldnt even apoligize so I can say--I will never refer them or book in their hotel in the future--I would rather stay away from a Disney Vacation one year if that was the only hotel available. (thats how strongly I feel about their service)

I do not like or trust the management at this hotel. I booked a room there through mousesavers last year. Then I read a lot of bad reviews so I decided to cancel long before the 48 hour cancellation deadline that I was given when making the reservation AND as was posted on the mousesaver's site. I was told that they would not refund my money because I had booked a mousesavers rate and it was subject to different cancellation policies. I printed out everything I had received from them and from mousesavers and sent it to them. Only by threatening to have my lawyer and the BBB involved did I get my money back. It was a very upsetting time. What is the email of the lady you're having problems with? I think we should ALL start sending her messages.

Just be careful if you do Priceline. It's a great service and we use for rental cars alot (just booked two), and my DH uses it for business. He puts in 4* at a cheap rate and does well with where he stays.

BUT we have been busy planning a trip to SF and area. My DH said check priceline, so I did, and my worry-self started reading all the fine print. They only guarantee a king bed. Won't work for our family of five, even if two rooms. There just is no guarantee of rollaway, extra person charges, etc. I didn't want to chance showing up with a good rate only to be told we won't fit and they will put us in another room at top dollar. Ended up booking all the rooms through AAA who was better than any other rates I could find through all the services.

Priceline is very risky for familes outside the Disney area. The nice thing about the Disney area is that unlike other areas they have more double bedded rooms then king size rooms.

HI

Well, i work for a hotel chain, Marriott, and my advise is to call the hotel you want to stay, most of the times we got better rates than priceline or hot wire, they pay the hotel like 30.00 for the room they sale for 99.oo (Example) when the rates is 69.00 for a walk-in or central reservations.

And also most of the hotels, offer rollaways for free to any guest just ask for it at check in, or after you get your reservation, call the hotel directly ask for the front desk and ask for the bed or whatever else, just keep in mind that requests are just that.

Guest can get anything they want, just ask for it.

Did you try the DoubleTree Guest suites? We stayed there in May with our family of 5 and found it had all we needed.

What a horrible story!! I had a bad experience with them for our trip in Jan 2004. I tried to book a 1bdrm suite. I had a bad cold and could hardly talk, but the price was great that day. The "nice" lady told me to call back when I could talk better. Stupid me did. When I did 2 days later, the price was doubled. Boy, I was mad. Needless to say we would not stay there. We ended up staying at Windsor Palms in a town house. It was very nice. Enjoy staying onsite and experience the "Disney Magic" 24/7. :)

Take a look at some of the winning bids on biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com

I don't think most hotels will match those rates.

Most hotels in Orlando will have no trouble giving you a room with 2 double beds. I wouldn't count on 5 in a room.

Biddingfortravel tells you what cities are known to give guests rooms with only one bed. Some of those rooms aren't big enough to add a rollaway. I wouldn't worry about 5 guests in 2 rooms with PL. NO GUARANTEE YOU'LL GET CONNECTING ROOMS.

Have you tried the Doubletree Guest suites on Hotel Plaza Blvd??? We are staying there in August. Our room will have two queen beds, plus a pull-out in the living room. We got a rate of $79 per night, including breakfast. We've always stayed on property, but this was a deal we couldn't pass up. I called the Hilton last week and they had no availability, but they said the Doubletree did have rooms available.
