Ok, I have been thinking about posting for a while. I seems to help that I can discuss Disney with people who can relate. Sorry I have no pictures to share but I am fairly new to this and am not computer savvy.
I just have to shout it "I AM GOING TO DISNEY IN 98 DAYS!!!"
I am the primary planner for my familys first trip to WDW. I am soooo very excited and it is all I can think about it. I am now only 98 days away from finally getting to go. I have been trying to talk to my husband into this for years. Thanks to DHs new job and me going to work full time we are actually going to be able to do it.
This is my family:
Me: Mother. I work for a social service agency. You dont want to know what I do. It is very depressing. My goal at this point in my life is to retire and work for Disney. It would be great to work some place where people have a reason to be happy. I love to cook and have recently found out I have OCD when it comes to vacation planning.
DH: A workaholic
. I think he took two vacations in his childhood and he doesnt understand why I feel the need. I cant say I blame his anti-vacation attitude since one of the two vacatoins involved six people traveling to Colorado in a Gremlin. Do you remember those cars? He has taken very little interest in planning the vacation although he seems to be getting more excited.
DD14: She is my very wise child. She wants to be a writer when she grows up and has already written a novel. It is still in the revision process but hopefully one day she will let us read it from start to finish. She is very quiet and a homebody. She is probably the least excited about going to Disney
. She did finally say the other night, The only ride that interests me at Disney is TOT. Believe me, it was an improvement.
DS12: He is my Disney coconspirator
. He is giving input on our touring plans. He wants to go on all the rides and has theories on how to do it with little waiting time. I hope he isnt disappointed. Getting DD14 up for rope drop may be a challenge.
DD7: Also very excited by WDW! She is a little worried about the rides
. While she is my wild child and typically the most assertive of the three kids she seems to be wary of the rides. Her big thing is to ride Barnstormer and eat at Chef Mickeys. Oh and lets not forget High School Musical.
That is everyone.
I made our reservations in Feb. We are staying at POR. The only reason we are staying at POR is that the WDW site showed that ASMu suites were not available. I have since learned that I was doing it wrong. They are available but after looking at the wonderful grounds at POR and the price difference I decided to stay with POR. I really like the idea of taking a boat to DTD and having a slide with the pool since we won't be doing any water parks.
I quickly discovered the importance of making ADR . When I heard that Boma was so good so I thought I better go ahead and make a ADR. I knew I wanted to eat there on my birthday/anniversary which just so happen to fall during the only week we had free. I called at 151 days and was told that I had the choice of 4:55 or 8:40. With so little options I thought I better get this trip planned and quick! I quickly put together a schedle and made ADR's. I have since changed everything multiple times with the exception of Boma (I wouldn't dare!). I still am not certian if I have everything right.
Here is what I have:
Arrival day (plane lands at 3:30) Chef Mickey's
Day 2: LTT
Day 3: Corral Reef
Day 4: Boma
Day 5: Teppanyaki
Day 6: 50's PTC
Day 7: 1900 Park Fare (dinner)
Day 8: Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Days 4-7 were my original ADR, so now that I think about it, that isn't so bad. I am a little worried about a ADR on arrival day. I don't want to rush anymore that we already did through the day. We live over 2 hours from the airport so it will be a long day. Chef Mickey's is also a priority for us, especially DD7. Part of me is thinking about switching LTT and Chef Mickey's. It will give us an excuse to check out MK right away. Plus eating at LTT isn't as important to me as eating at Chef Mickey's if our arrival time gets messed up. On the other hand we do plan on spending the first day at MK and may not want to do that much going back and forth between the park and resorts. I also think that going to Chef Mickey's will be a great way to welcome us to WDW. Is it this hard for everyone?
I think my big news for this week is that I broke down and bought my first items for the trip. The big one is I bought a shoe organizer that can hang on the door of the bathroom. I believe I got the idea from somewhere on this board. We are staying at POR and there does not look like there is much space in the bathroom area. Those ledges above the sink worry me. I am only 5 ft tall so if I put all my beautifyin items on that ledge, I wont be able to see myself. I wasn't going to buy one because I am more cheap than I am short but they were less than $7 so I thought it may be worth it. I am very excited about finally buying something for the trip. I hid it from DH
. He already thinks I am over planning. I figure if I buy one or two things per pay period between now and our trip, which is 98 days away (did I mention that yet?) it wont be as big of trip to the store when we will already be broke with the start of school. Next big purchase will be rain ponchos! 87 cents at Wally-World!
Oh, another big purchase. I bought my WDW walking sandals. They are the kind that can get wet but are ugly. They are also the kind that I can wear on float trips which I really needed a new pair anyway.
My next big event will be this coming week when I put in my request notice fo time off at work.
We are only allowed to request 90 days in advance.
Thanks to all those that read this. While I am not officially calling this a pre-trip report I may add to it just to get some of these WDW thoughts out of my system.
