I am in shock

I'm going to move this over to our transportation board.

Holy cow, that is insane!! DH and I flew to Hawaii from New Orleans with a stop in Houston for about $750/person round trip!! I can't even imagine why NY to FL would be so insanely high!! Keep watching the fares, surely they will have to come down from that.

We were lucky to get some great deals on our fares to and from Orlando in December. We did the web only price (non-refundable) and got our flight there for about $95/person and flight home for about $75/person.

What airport?? Have you tried Southwest from Islip? What airport are you booking from? Forget LGA and JFK. Try Islip. Best airport in the world!

I agree with pp - look into Islip. Also Rochester (or is Westchester? -it's been a while) and if you don't mind driving to save $$, Albany, too.
How large is your group? Some airlines give discounts for group travel.
Good luck!

Relax those are the real prices. They are always high when they first come out. Competetion drives prices down not up.

I agree.

And I agree that those are the real prices that they'd love to get. I remember flying in the early 80s from San Francisco to DC, and it was about $800 for my rt ticket. Toss in the inflation and IMO that's what they could be charging...

Hi there! As someone else mentioned, I would try White Plains (Westchester). Also, clear out your browsing history, sometimes when you check availability, it gives you the information you already looked at. I suggest that you clear out your information every time you would like to check the most current fares. Hope you get a better deal than $899! That is just too much!

I pay anywhere from $450 to $1300 roundtrip to fly between San Diego and Iowa every summer. That's just what it costs. This year fares were in the $500 range. Last year they were in the $850 and $1200 range. One flight I priced last year to the same destination from San Francisco cost $1700. Ouch. But that's a vacation I refuse to miss.

You think $899 RT is bad... right now, for Mass. school's "April vacation" (3rd week of April), Delta is charging $1581 per person for a nonstop flight Boston to Orlando!! :scared1: Um, who the heck is going to pay that? Sure as heck not me. Waiting on Jetblue and SW to release fares for that time frame and hope they come down. Because I am most certainly not paying 6K just to fly to FL for a week... :sad2:

If you were flying from Boston on a non-stop to MCO during spring break $899 would be considered a bargain fare. :teacher:
Flying from Boston to MCO; Delta is the only airline currently offering non-stop flights to MCO during school spring break 4/17-4/24 would cost you $1565 coach per person. The same deal to TPA, Tampa, costs $1665. :scared1::scared1::scared1:
Good luck all,
Joe

P.S. We paided $239 p/p on Delta non-stop to TPA back in May, at midnight, the first day the flights became available and we haven't seen a cheaper flight since then, stops or non-stops. :laundy:
