I am in a Wedding---Need to vent!!

If you are guessing at that $150 price, I would prepare myself for more if I were you.

I was thinking the same thing....my daughter was in a wedding and her flower girl dress ended up costing 250 after the alterations...then more for the shoes to go with the dress...
And when you are in the bridal party then you throw the shower so not only is it the price of a gift its throwing a shower too..and no one dos house showers around here..they are always out in a restaurants party room etc so it adds quite a few hundred more onto the cost of being in the wedding, plus the cost of a gift! Then the wedding gift is a few hundred more!!! Just be thankful there was no engagement party to get you for another gift, I think engagement parties are the tackiest thing ever! Its just a thing to get you to give yet another gift for hte same occassion.

Ok I have to ask: if you had a problem with her bringing that many "guests" to your wedding, why did you tell her she could?

i'd wait until july comes around, for sure it seems as if things will change...and from what i know, arent the troops that go over ALWAYS there for more than they are supposto be? why doesn't she go to a justice BEFORE he leaves in july??? this is what i would do... i was in a wedding in september (30) on august 30, i ordered my dress, on the net. i got it in 2 weeks....so having a dress for 6 months is crazy! for a wedding that may or may not happen. you can at least hold off until aug-sept to get a dress for dec. i did it in 1 month w/ no problem... you can ask her what the brand of dress is, go try it on at a big bridal store & order it off the net for A LOT less! the website theknot.com has a lot of info here...but hold off on getting the dress for sure!!!

The last wedding I was in the entire bridal party was referring to the bride as demon bride or the bride from He**. When she yelled at the maid of honor who was in the midst of picking up her flowers to join in a picture to get the f@#$ over here, that was pretty much the tone of the whole day. Just lovely. I still maintain that women in fluffy white gowns should not use the F word.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I can't believe that!!

Have you ever seen "The Knot" weddings that they have ON Demand sometimes. It is under 'lifestyle' or something. Well there was this one where the bride told her father to '___ off and go to ___' and that she would rather walk down the aisle by herself than with him!!! This was minutes before the wedding was about to start. I was rolling on the floor laughing.

If I get stressed about anything when it it my turn in January, you can bet I will be thinking of that and laughing it off!

Just wishing you good luck and this is an example of why I think all couples should elope to Vegas!

Just kidding. I love weddings and loved looking at everyone's wedding pics the other day and hearing wedding stories. But they are stressful and tend to bring out the worst in people sometimes so take everything with a grain of salt, do your best to retain a sense of humor and again, good luck!!

This is why I never agree to be in anyones wedding unless they are my best friend. I would not buy that dress especially if the wedding might not happen. Tell her that you are not buying anything until you are sure she's getting married. Being in someones wedding is a major expensive especially when you figure out the total cost!

The last wedding I was in was 6 years ago and the dress cost $325.00!!!! A more butt ugly dress would have been hard to find. We all went shopping together and picked a dress style and color. The bride left the bridal shop smiling and happy with the choices that had been made. A week later she phoned us all and told us she had gone back and changed the dress style and color. We never saw them until we went for fittings. There were six of us and the style did not look good on a single one of us. We all looked like Barney the dinosaur with a huge white bow on our rears. We decided (since we all were aware that the bride was a bit shallow) that she was hedging her bets on being the best dressed at her wedding. I ended up spending about $1000 on that wedding and it didn't last but a year and a half.
