I am in a NIGHTMARE - everything is going wrong

I added some thoughts about the cc as well if you care to look back.

With park tickets, it's definitely worth staying at POP and not stressing over the $$ for the other hotels. At least you get some of it back.

wow - its weird that I didn't even see that part and that it didn't show up in the post!!! I think that I screwed up the credit card part pretty good - i didn't check numbers or anything before destroying the old card and that is my stupidity....and since I do everything electronically - I don't have paper copies of anything!

I am going to look into switching over to a different bank for sure - although I don't think anyone will give me a credit card, I am pretty maxed out - been trying for a Disney card for over a year now, lol

Thanks to all of you and your helpful and insightful posts - I have some GREAT news~
The credit card company does not charge for being over the limit!! woohoo!!
and they have agreed to up my credit card limit by $2000 which isn't huge considering it is already $700 over but that does give me an extra $1300 in case of an emergency and relieves my stress about losing the money on the two hotels!!!:yay: :yay:

So - the decision has been made that we will cancel those hotels and stay at pop - I don't have to worry that I may have put us in the poor house by going over the card limit!! :dance3: :dance3:

Then because I was feeling so happy I just called the airline and told them what the customer service rep told me and asked if it were true that I would not be able to get to my desitination if it snowed - They said absolutely NOT TRUE - that if it snowed and the flight was not able to go out - it would NOT be cancelled but delayed until it was safe to proceed - The guy I talked to said that they would never leave travelers stranded due to weather - something would always be worked out....:cool1: :cool1:

SO - all that leaves for now is finding a CHEAP rental car and we are back on the happy side of life!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I was sooo upset about all of this that I couldn't see or think clearly and all of your thoughtfulness, kindness, insight and advice really helped me see to the other side and get things done!!!!!!

If we meet up in Disney - Dole Whips are one me :) :dance3:

Yay :yay:! Now you can relax a bit and look forward to your trip.

If you haven't already, check out the December rental car thread on the Transportation Board. They are mostly posting about car rental rates out of MCO, but they may be able to help you find a decent rate from Sanford as well... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3055826

Thank you!!!! I am soooo happy right now!
I will definitely go check that out right now!!!!!!

Yahooo!! :cool1::cool1:

Just a thought on the car rental....there is a car rental agency right at one of the resort hotels (I think it's the Dolphin?) What abt just renting from the airport to the hotel, and back again on the last day? That should be under $100 by a fair bit, and would make up for the money lost on the hotel issue....

Great advice! I will check that out! THANKS

Just some input on booking multiple hotels for a stay...we switched from PopTo CB for the last two days. It was stressful packing for themove, took time out of the parks to check in and drop bags. We Really didn't have any time to enjoy the properties because we just slept in the room.

I didn't realize the toll it would take on me physically and emotionally making the switch.

If this is your first trip, using a travel agency would avoid a lot of the stress you just went through. Renting the car at Sanford is a lot less expensive considering the convenience of having it vs the time to return it onsite and pick it up again for sure. Our mini van was $303 for Oct 2012. I did watch the rates.

Don't worry about the weather, baring a blizzard you will have no problem. I don't know what you did about booking ADR and FP but reduce them if its overwhelming. It is a more memorable trip when it is relaxed and not rushing from one thing to the other on a tight schedule. I think that is why I always feel more relaxed on a cruise then after a Disney trip.

Don't put on any extra stresses over planning and over thinking.
Sanford has its advantage in the smaller, much smaller security line, a lot smaller to walk then the larger MCO. After trying MCO again last trip, I will go back to Sanford anymore.
Purchase trip insurance I think ours was through travel safe
Remember to cancel if needed any ADR's 24 hrs prior if they held your CC.
Reduce meltdowns by stopping and have a Mickey ice cream, don't cry over spilt ice cream on the kids, or you, it is what happy memories are made from..(don't stress the little thing with over planning park days)

Its Not the quantity of what is done during the trip, but the quality. I think that is the best advice to Change everything to Pop for the stay, day 1-10.

Call the Nick head office, get a contact name. Tell them you want to cancel due to housekeeping issues if that is what a PP related, and double check the website to see how small the fine print is.
If no help is given and it is your last night, stay at he Pop the entire rest of the trip, you will be packing to go home anyway, just keep a smaller suitcase with the nightly and morning needs if you use that last night at Nick.

But, again, there are Disney specialist travel agents on this forum, I use a great gal even though I know my way around by now just to reduce the stress. You can still transfer your ressie, or have them help with a new one at the Pop.
A first timer really can use their experience to avoid an incident like this.

Keep watching the car rates, they will come down typically, it was good you did not lock in with the tickets. I had great pricing at Sanford.

If you are spending the whole trip at AOA, and you have to pack up and move somewhere for the last night, then yeah I'd go with the Nick hotel that's already half paid for. You already have to move rooms anyway and the Nick hotel isn't bad.

If you're in a suite at AOA and the credit cards are all maxed, maybe you could drop down to a room at POP the whole time? That's the situation where it might make sense to cancel the Nick hotel.

Thanks guys! Everyone is so helpful! I can't believe how much information and great advice you all have given me -
I have a TA and she has been really great about helping me with everything - I think I just got excited and jumped the gun thinking I could make arrangements myself and thatis where I got in trouble - I am too new to traveling and especially taking family to disney as an adult - I should not have locked myself in to anything UNTIL i knew what my options were....

Lesson definitely learned - and next time we go to Disney - I will be that much better prepared!

I'm sorry you are having a bad day, OP, but I'm a little confused. Your post sounded like you wanted to activate the credit card for incidentals that could come up during your trip. If that's the case, how did you get to be $700 over your limit before your trip? I must be misunderstanding something. Do you still have the other card - the one you meant to activate? If you give the credit card company the card #, they should be able to find your other account. Also, did you ask if they could raise your limit on the other card? You're staying at Pop, then Nick, but where does Ramada fit in? If you pay the cancellation fee, you'll at least get $14 back, right? That's better than nothing. I wouldn't worry about the weather, since it's out of your control. Watch the weather in the days leading up to your trip. Sometimes, if the weather is going to be bad and the airline anticipates cancelling your flight, they may let you get on a flight the day before. Did they say what happens if your flight is cancelled due to snow? Do they give you a refund? Or a credit for a future flight? Don't beat yourself up about it. We all have made mistakes like this. Just chalk it up to a lesson learned and always read the fine print in the future.
jmmm

That's what I was thinking :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know what that means/is supposed to mean!
