Guess the words don't work as well as REM's, "I am Superman"...

Just heard that tune on my LaunchCast.... what a great tune!!!

Ok, need some very serious advice.... as SSB can't indeed do "anything", and worried about the survival of your very own sketchy neighbor and archrival (to some)... SSB.

SSB has just learned that next weekend, when travelling to a place that is just too darned close to the Ice Planet Hoth this time of year to see Jennifer .... (the mountains of Virginia), that the forecast is...

Forecast:

Fri
Jan 30 Wintry Mix 37°/3° 60 %

Er, um... that would be the number THREE, would it not? As in one of the first numbers you learn in life, as so VERY close the number ONE!

For Pete's sake! (had to through that in, as just received a PM from him that SSB needs to open soon... ;)

Egad!

Methinks that SSB's blood has thinned WAY too much in 8 years here, after leaving the land of Dan Murphy, AKA Chicago.

3.

Wow.

Really think that SSB needs some solid advice and strategy on how to survive this... !!!!

SSB, you know all those FLEECE sweatshirts that you walk past and say, HA, who needs those? Well you will! Having lived in the warmth of AZ and now living the the cold of NH, here is my advice.

Gloves, heavy enough to make it hard to zip your jacket.
A hat, 80% of you body heat escapes from your head if it is uncovered.
A scarf, you can use it to wrap over your nose and mouth if the wind is strong.
A jacket, preferably one that make you look like the Michelin man, well maybe not that heavy, but it should have a zippper and a flap over the zipper to keep the wind out.
Flannel lined jeans are nice, but not necessary, just make sure you have on the warmest pants you own, and thick socks and hiking boots if you have them.

If you dress in layers, you can shed them as needed.

See if there is anyone you can borrow from, unless you were smart and saved those cold weather clothes.

Where in VA? I was in Bristol on Christmas Night, and then drove up 81 into PA on our moving trip. I lived in VA for 30 plus years, also.

Just consider it a character-building event, SSB!

We've had all kinds of cold weather up this way and this place is full of characters!

Bundle up and snuggle whenever you can....you'll be fine. :)

If it's really cold, I like thermal underwear. But then I get cold easy and just about freeze if we go into mountains during winter.

The hat is really important. Get one that you can pull down over your ears.

OK, I'm not going to laugh at you, especially after all those digs about how "cool" the temps were in Florida...in the 60s in the a.m.

Like HELL I'm not!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The best way to stay warm is body heat

And make sure you wear a hat :teeth:

anti-freeze. I mean lemonade.

Well that would be before..........................WINDCHILL!! Welcome to the world of (-) degress.

My best advice - call in sick. No, oh well, find some long woolies with the trap in the back - they should sell them in Virginia.

It was a pleasure to meet you last week. Oh and in case you didn't hear - the Patriots WON!!

80 proof or greater.

Don't go, SSB!!!!!!!

I hear you on the cold, my friend, I turn into a popsicle at about 65 degrees......

By the way, long time no see! :wave2:

:teeth:

Oh yeah.....I seem to remember a thread about how nice it was in Florida, highs in the mid 70's blah, blah, blah! :p

Best be careful SSB, if the weather is nasty enough, you just might get stuck here! ::yes::

Most important....hat, gloves, scarf....
layer the clothes as others have suggested.

and sorry, stay away from the alcohol ;)

Another here who has no sympathy ;)

Right now its SIX here!!

Hey SSB!!!!

The family is up here at Brettonwoods NH...and the high tomorrow is going to be 2 degrees...yes, that is the high  My best advice...bring something along to keep you warm (scotch or brandy are pretty good) Bring your pretty lady and sit by a fire and enjoy...if you need to go outside make sure you have your long johns on and cover every bit of exposed skin you can...especially a HAT ;)

Enjoy your trip :)

maybe you could bring along some company...Zooey Desanchel OR Nicole Kidman.......maybe both ;) just wrap yourself up:teeth:

if you can't get them to join you...on such short notice, of course...maybe just the THOUGHT will keep you nice and toasty :teeth:

3 degrees? That's a heatwave up here these days!!!
The best medecine for that SSB , is body heat , liquor and a nice fire going.
;)
