Hey all-it has been a long time since DLP. I have been to WDW 2 times this past year. I was thinking of taking my daughter to DLP for the day to see the decorations etc-possibly on Jan 1 as I think it would be most quiet. My other choices are tomorrow the 29 or the 30.....Is it worth the money as we will also have the expense of the train from the Southwest of France...if we go I plan to get the tickets for both parks. I also plan to take food in by backpack to save on money. Just need advice......TIA princess:

Got to be honest here - if you really love WDW, then it seems to me you won't necessarily be bowled over by DLRP. More and more I read of people who are disappointed with the Paris Parks when their first love is Florida.

I love it - it suits me and mine and we have been 5 times this year, but there has been a LOT of disenchantment from other people recently and it seems mostly from people who have been to WDW.

At the airport on my way back from the worst ever visit to a Disney Park, I would not even bother to waste money on the train to visit DLP.

The impression you will have after visiting WDW will be shattered by DLP. The Park is dirty, If you want to fight with rude guests for Photographs of the characters who do not know what a queue is, Now these guests think nothing of pushing young children out of the way I am talking adults here not other children.

The queues for rides are just as bad, where people will barge you out the way just to get in the line,

The parades again are a nightmare with rude , arrogant people who will kick shove and do anything to get to the front,

The Cast members are totally apathetic about the whole Disney issue and will not attempt to prevent such behaviour,

There are pickpockets on the park which I found out to my cost...Again Disney not at all interested.

The food is expensive and cold when ordered the Cast members in the resturants don't interact at all with the customers.

DLP is not a true impression of Disney, The Magic of Disney is utterly lost on this money making attempt at a Disney Park.

Having been 5 times already this year i have not witnessed anything that you have mentioned above.

I have been both to both parks in FL and Paris and IMHO DLP was the cleanest out the 2.

Hey don't mince your words there - tell us what you really think.

As stated above I have had 5 visits to DLRP this year, totalling 23 days in the resort.
Fortunately never been pickpocketed, but that can happen anywhere in the world and is worse in tourist hotspots.
I have never had cold food, the food is comparable in price to any touristy place I have been to and is usually of far better quality.
Never noticed the Park being dirty.
Never had a CM who wouldn't interact with me in a restaurant - not really sure what this means - would they not speak? Not bring you food? :confused3
Never had a fight - either here or in ANY holiday place I have visited.
Have noticed that some people don't queue, but have learnt that this is a cultural thing and I can't expect to impose MY culture on the places I visit, so just go with the flow.
This is the main theme of my holidays though - to enjoy myself and go with the flow. If I were uptight and looking to pick holes, then I expect I would find things to moan about. :confused3

I have never been to WDW so i dont know if it is really so different from DLRP but i have never never witnessed what you say but the rude people in the queues. But i suppose you can find rude people all around the world dont you?

If i was you and i was worried to be disappointed i would not go, and IMO Jan 1st is not the best choice to enjoy the Park anyway.

Happy New Year to you :goodvibes

I was pushed and shoved alot last week too

for the parade, we queued up very early and then latecomers pushing their kids to the front, knocking my kids into the road.. I had to turn around and say no sorry you should have come earlier! Why should I wait for 40 mins just to let everyone else go in front!!

Alot of pushing and shoving I agree!! Especially when a character is about and no queues are in place...

I heard a lot of people complaining about being pushed and shoved this year, although last year I never experienced any,.

just wanted to add, as mentioned above.. I never went intending to pick holes.. but it wasnt nice to experience being pushed about :(

Also on the studio tram tour... I was barged by two elderly people, made me fall into my youngest.. a turned around and was so cross and the man held his hands up and shrugged, I said "where do you think you are going to go, I cant go any further we are in a QUEUE!!!" not only that but that lady was walking with a walking stick!! like she needed it!!!!

Apart from that... I loved it... the decorations were very pretty (although some people have complained about those too this year)

The characters and staff were very friendly.

The hotels were clean

and I will be going back one day :)

going back to the original question - if you can get there early on 1st jan it will be fairly quiet as most people will have been up late the night before but the parks are expected to be full to capacity at this time of year so it will be very busy.

Whereabouts are you staying? you say you will be travelling from SouthWest France. Do you mean just to travel for the day? If so you will find it a long way and Im not sure it would be worth it.
If you are thinking of travelling up and seeing Paris and a day at DLP then yes it may be worth it

I'm sorry but I can't help you with your initial question as I don't know the travelling times from southwest France etc but I just had to reply to this other post.

Woooahhhh!!! We've just come back from DLRP last week and while I was disappointed with certain specific things, I certainly didn't experience what you have mentioned in your post. Yes, the queueing and shoving can be pretty bad (as we experienced in previous trips) but we found that the CMs this time round were pretty good at keeping people in place and telling them that 'there is a queue' and just didn't let the 'shovers' do as they pleased.

Pickpockets - as someone else has pointed out, it can happen anywhere, so it's up to you as the individual to keep your personal belongings safe.

Food is pricey but I have never had cold food. If your food was cold, you could've sent it back and I'm sure they would've been more than happy to re-serve you. The waiters & waitresses where we dined were very attentive.

I've never noticed the park being dirty either. I did see the odd bit of litter here and there but that's to be expected I guess... esp when visitors just don't bother to actually put their litter IN the bin !

Got to agree we never experienced most of what you said, yes there was the odd bits of pushing and shoving mainly when photographs we're involved with characters ....we stood in line for 15 minutes with people pushing in front and getting pictures done...then the CM said to Donald (character) these kids have been patiently been waiting, make them the last now....so the CM we're fantastic when we went.

As for time of year I have heard the 1st will be quite busy as people stay at disney over the christmas period so I would say go mid January to avoid the bit queues.

Park has never been dirty when we went, quite the opposite really.

Food has been great, little over priced but not helped by the poor Euro rate at the minute....comparable to most Euro destinations at the minute really.

We took our own food which saved loads of money so thats a fantastic idea....look out for the CM when they check your bag...looked in ours and said thanks for bringing our lunch today lol while trying to steal it and laugh lol.

Just go with the flow, if you don't get your hopes up you will have a fantastic time, have never been to WDW as the money issue puts us off....would like to go once but DLRP is a fantastic place to go and witness if only for a 1 off visit, at least you can say you have been.

I thought this was a dicussion board where you could discuss all aspects of Disney, Ok if the mods want to remove my thread because it does not fit into what they want to hear about Disneyland Paris then fine please do,

My family were really looking forward to this much needed break and having been to Disney on many occasions before we really have been disapointed,

I dont expect to have to eat cold food, nor do I expect it to take 2 hours between main course and sweet, I gave up before the coffee was served,

We pay Disney for a service and this time the service was lacking.

I will write a full trip report when I return home but please feel free to move my posts or remove me from this board.

We are all paying for our holidays and staying on resort is expensive, When working out the cost of this holiday it would have been cheaper to go to Florida, I am not for one minute comparing the two resorts but surely some continuity in all Disney Parks.

I went to Disneyland Paris in early December and have no complaints - the park was very clean (and bits of painting etc were being done all over the place too), I did not experience any pushing in the queues, parades, or poor service in restaurants.

The culture is different but we still had some magical cast members. I visited WDW in January of this year, the parks were equal in cleanliness between Orlando and Paris, and I thought the quality of the food in table service restaurants was better at Disneyland Paris overall.

I love them both, but they are both very different places.:)

as for the first post if you would be travelling all day to get there then as others have said you might be dissapointed. also how long would you actually have in the park compared to travel time??

the mods will only be interested in removing posts mentioning nationalities as a problem. not your post in particular.

i think its so sad that so many people lately have been unhappy with their visit. for whatever their reasons it wasnt up to scratch for them and that is a shame. i have noticed pushing and shoving in the parks but to be honest if i thought there was a huge queue of people i didnt bother joining as the character would never get to me. i had a great time and i would recommend it to anyone. bad customer service is not acceptable but it strikes me that often people dont complain enough and then let it ruin their holiday

Woah... just wait 'til the mods get their hands on this thread. :rotfl:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

have to agree tho - have not experienced most of what the poster mentioned..... apart from the pushing - which u will get anywhere, and the rudeness of ppl visiting - again u can get anywhere.....
all the cm i had contact with were fab, and the food was good too....

for the original post - as mentioned - r u travelling up in the day??? and r u in france for a while or just a quick visit - if a while, maybe look at after schools have gone back when it might be quieter!!

Wow! Can you tell me who you booked through for your Florida holidays, as I can't get a flight out there for less than the price of my stay in DLP. :confused3
