Everyone keeps posting these great deals on r/t airfare......where are they? I've checked airtrans, jetblue, usair, northwest, american, delta, etc. and can't find less than $200 per person for our trip......from ROC to MCO. Is there a trick I don't know? I did find out that even one week difference in when we make the trip can drop the rate by $15 per person.....which is wierd, but........

I found airfare for December from MHT to MCO for $176 with all fees and taxes per person when the cheapest I could find prior to that was $200 per person. I scooped it up as soon as I saw it. I think the answer to your questions is to keep checking often and early. I know some other folks say that they find the best deals closer to the departure date, but I’m a geek and like to have my tickets way earlier. Keep checking. Maybe moving a day you depart would help? If you traveling during busy times the fares are more likely to hold steady. We had flexibility of moving the week any way we wanted to but wanted to leave on Friday and come back on Friday. I found out very early on that if we wore to leave on Thursday instead we could have saved another $10 per person. Keep checking something is bound to come up!

I would be thrilled with $200 roundtrip tickets.

I'm having the same problem here. Last year we flew in June from AUS on Southwest airlines for $500.00 for 4 adults. They had the companion flys free fares. This year I can't find anything under $200.00 either. What a difference a year makes. I keep hoping that someone will put tickets on sale.

You can't get deals in MN. Thats why were driving.

I've looked at both Travelocity and Orbitz today and they both say $135 plus from ROC to MCO.

It's a needle in a haystack, but a gold needle worth finding. What are your travel dates? I just found Rochester to Orlando (ROC/MCO) rates on US Air for 118$, RT (note, it's $155 with tax and fees, $118 is pre-fee price). Let me know your dates, I'll get the rates, then send you directions on how to get them. Note, this sometimes takes a bit of flexibility.

Tonysgal,

I've found rates between $116 and $124 per RT (pre tax). The problem: You're looking too far out. Going for your specific dates, the best I can find is in the $200 range.

My suggestion: Wait another two months. Who knows what discount rates will be by then? It could backfire. But right now, US Air (for example) is only into September on their discounted fairs. But you should be able to find a good fare. You've got great components, meaning no Friday or Monday travel, and a Saturday night stay.

If it were me, I'd do the following: Wait until about mid-June (but keep your eyes open here and elsewhere for fare sales). Using the US Air site, search flights, but don't do them by date, do them by price. This makes the systems find you the lowest rate instead of making you search through pages for it. You then look at available dates for the price you want. Some won't be there, but Sunday to Saturday is a good loop to travel.

Next, go to Airtran. They're a discount carrier offering direct service. Finally, go to Travelocity.com and run your trip through, again using best fares instead of dates, then see if they have your dates after you see a price you like. I'm sure others here will have more ideas. By constantly checking a stream of data, you'll eventually hit on a "must buy." Last year, I flew my wife and myself from BWI to MCO for under $220, all fees included. Trick was I had to A) check for a month before I found a "must buy" fare; B) I had to be flexible and fly out of BWI vs Dulles (would you consider leaving from Syracuse?); and C) when the fare came up, I bought it, immediately. By the time I got home that night, the fare was no longer available.

Best of luck.

Pat
