We are 6 weeks away from our trip in June. We are staying 10 days at VWL.

So how far ahead do you really "begin" planning the packing part. Not the planning part, but the what do I need to bring?

I usually start packing about 2 weeks out. This time around I can't stop thinking about it. We have a very busy May which is great, it will help keep my mind off of it. (Not).

So when do you start to get "oochie"?

We arrive at BLT on June 17th after a few days with the Boy Wizard, so I think we may cross over on our vacation time.

I have already started to "think" about what is needed. I have asked the kids and DH to let me know if they need shorts/tanks, etc. or new shoes (need to break those in first). I also am thinking about what I may need to get myself. I usually will get the kids some I-tunes gifts cards so they can download new movies and music for the airport/plane. I also have started to think what we should order from Garden Grocer.

As well I like to make a list of thinks such as suncreen, rain ponchos, etc. that I need to also purchase.

I try to start buying this stuff now so I can spread it out a bit, but it really does add to the excitement of the trip.

I usually will pack within the same week that we are going, usually just few days or so before we leave. However I will have the luggage and new items out ready to be packed.

Our May is quite busy as well and I hope that makes the time go by fast!

Have a Wonderful Vacation!!! :goodvibes

Well, we leave this Friday! I sent WeGoShop our shopping list for groceries, sunscreen, etc. about 6 weeks ago. I have been spreading all our other toiletry needs out over the last 6 weeks and buying them a little at a time. That was a good idea. At a week out, I had everything I needed. I started an actual packing list about 3 weeks ago and really tweaked it. I am trying so hard not to over pack. I have been physically packing since Saturday. Tonight I will be emptying the suitcases again and repacking. When I do this I try really hard to take 25% of it out. Wish me luck!

We don't leave until October and I am already that way. My kids (college age) tease me about all the charts/graphs/spreadsheets that always precede a trip. I think I love the "planning" almost as much as the trip. I always start planning the next trip within a few weeks of returning home. I guess I feel like if I am planning it must be close. I just went over a sample trip agenda over dinner tonight. Glad my family is used to me!

The plan sounds like mine.
We are going to be there June18-28. :cool1:

Went over my list after I posted earlier today.

LOVE this part.

This needs a "like" button.

We are constantly in the Disney planning mode. We have a bedroom in our house that only gets used over the holidays, so it is perfect for Disney trip staging! We are not so focused on the exact minute to minute planning of every day (yet), but we certainly spend a great deal of time planning out EMH and ADR's. Of course, we have a 5 yo son, so we can't plan for the days to go exactly as scheduled. Our next trip is a 4-night deal in August, which we aren't putting much into, other than ADR's. Our trip after that is 8 nights in October, and we have spent the last two weeks working on our strategy! We are considering signing up for "the purple box", so that has added a whole new dimension to our planning!

Have a great trip!

We leave for FL on Saturday -- the suitcases are on the floor and I'm going to look at the Publix ads in a minute. It'll be so hard to wait for Saturday to get here!

:rotfl:

Major procrastinator here!!!!

I love going to Disney, but I HATE packing!!

Our flight leaves Friday morning at 6am. Tomorrow I am cleaning the house so it is decent for the housesitter.

Thursday I will pack. Probably not until the evening. It is just dh & I on this trip though, so I don't have to worry about kidlets & all their accouterments!

I travel for business pretty routinely so my toiletry bag pretty much stays packed. I just need to throw in some clothes.

Which reminds me........I really should do some laundry!! :lmao:

I used to start rounding things up about a month in advance so I could actually see that I had the items I thought I did. DH really doesn't like that "pile" of stuff accumulating for that long. Last trip I didn't even get the suitcases out until 2-3 days before we left. Of course my kids are older and pack themselves (with the help of a list I create and then I approve items before they go in the suitcase). I don't think much/anything was forgotten that last trip but I was more concerned about it so I'll have to make some adjustments.

i do the same thing. We leave in 23 days. Packing will start this weekend. With all the sports and school events in between, we will be very busy!

we head out June 1 for a crazy trip. 2 days onsite (working) following by 4 day Disney cruise followed up with 4 more days onsite. i typically have a pretty good handle on packing. but this time with so many different destinations and purposes, i already feel a little overwhelmed.

Well, we still had frost this morning up here in the frozen north, so first I have to find the summer clothes! :lmao:

I made my list several months ago, and I've been collecting items since then. Picked up spray sunscreen and some of our traditional snacks for the road (Original Chex Mix and Bugles) today.

I bought new suitcases for the kids a couple of weeks ago. Since we now own a minivan, there will actually be room for the kids to have their own suitcases. DD does a pretty good job of packing on her own; DS, not so much. :rotfl: DD will choose her outfits and pack them in ziploc bags. She usually helps me with DS's outfits. DH does his own packing.

I need to take the kids shopping for walking sandals, and I have lots of sewing to do. :scared1: My goal is to not be hemming items in the car.

We must be long lost relatives. I can hold off planning until the 6 month mark. Once we're in the booking window for dining all bets are off.

I actually dislike having to make the dining reservations so far out. But do enjoy the rest. I have the complicated spreadsheet that has park hours, crowd levels by park, EMH hours, parade and show times, reservations (dining and shows), etc. A little nuts.

:rolleyes1

July trip...BCV booked Dec 20. Airline tickets - January 9 (along with DME). Dining reservations - booked week of January 20 (neatly printed xls spreadsheet, and in my Disney folder). Ordered ticket for DS's friend from Undercover Tourist - February. Ordered APs for the 4 of us (great price, but OUCH!) - April.

Still to do: 1) Rental car for 2 days, 2) Garden Grocer order, 3) Count sheep for the next 76 days. :scared:

Planning is half the fun! We bought DVC because we think WDW is great, right? It's important to enjoy all aspects of the vacation:) Well, except the packing! Bringing less lately because of all the flight regulations, but maybe will get down to even less next trip.

Enjoy every single magical (& stressful) part of your planning stages & your greatly anticipated trip!

I agree! I am a bit of a foodie so I LOVE figuring out the ADR's. I must be a lotta nuts!

Funny! I also use my guest bedroom as my "packing room." Once my guests leave this weekend, I am going to be in full Disney World mode until our trip on May 28th! Outfits will be laid out, toiletries collected, shoes lined up and suitcases everywhere. Then, I walk in at random times to survey my piles, thereby eliminating clothing, adding clothing from my shopping trips, and generally freaking out. Meanwhile, DH is as cool as a cucumber wondering why I am so nervous. We are packing for the parks, a cruise and a cross country trip back to California! :scared1:

Wish me luck!
