Oh my, I can't believe you held your tongue as long as you did! I would have been IRATE about the trees also. As for keeping neighborly, I would go over after a day or so (after things have calmed a little) and explain why you are so mad. Also you can see why they are doing these things. Look at it as boundry setting! GO GIRL!!

Glad to hear that no one thought I was overreacting or being a jerk.. I honestly and truly have been biting my tongue with these folks and consistently looking the other way, but seeing my chairs sitting there with a FREE sign on them pushed me right over the top.. Hopefully my "chat" will be the end of it.. I have no desire to hold a grudge.. I appreciate that they are compulsive in their need to have everything perfect - and I think it's wonderful that they have the energy to stack their twigs and logs according to size and tree type; vacuume their driveway and patio 8 to 10 times a day; cover all of their flowers with little umbrellas on the extra hot days so the poor little things don't get overheated; wash, wax, & vacuume their car on a daily basis; sweep and scrub down the roof of their summer place every evening before they turn in; thoroughly wash their feet with disinfectant from these nifty little spray bottles (that they carry everywhere - hitched to their belt like a gun in a holster) before getting in the lake or walking barefoot on the beach; skimming large sections of the lake on a daily basis to remove any unsightly bugs: mowing their lawn over and over and over - until they're certain that there is not one blade of grass that is longer than another; bleaching their whites to the point of possibly causing permanent eye damage to anyone who is unfortunate enough to glance in the direction of their clothesline; and on and on - BUT it's a lifestyle that THEY have chosen and not necessarily one that the rest of the neighbors here care to adopt.. None of us are slobs - by any stretch of the imagination - but we are here to relax, NOT to obssess.. All I ask is for them to keep their compulsiveness within their own poperty lines and I'm sure we'll get along just fine............

Dearie, my own little form of ocd will cause me to melt down if the carpets aren't cleaned by next week.. sad but true..

However I do believe my dh would welcome their help next spring when I get that crazy "Air out the house" look in my eyes which occurs each spring.. LOL

CAnn- I think that you were very tolerant of these people for a long time & I probably would have blown before you did. I think you definately didnot overreact and I hope they got the message.
Your update had me cracking up. I can't even imagine what it would be like to live that way. Disinfectant on their belts? Plant umbrellas? Let's face it...my plants are lucky to get watered. I will confess that after a few margaritas one night a few of my neighbors & DH & I considered putting a "For Sale by Neighbors" sign in our scary neighbors yard.
