I Am Doubting Myself. Need Reassured- Pop Century

I booked Pop Century right atfer Tyler started bragging it up. Now I am wondering if we have made a mistake. The resort sounds awesome. We are going to be visiting in January. We arriving on the Saturday of MLK weekend. Besides the holiday, is PC going to be packed because it is a new resort? This is a once in a lifetime visit for my parents, and I want it to get great.

I see that you have been at All Star resort twice. If you were happy their, I believe that you will be happy at Pop Century. The reviews are outstanding for this resort. I personally would go with a moderate resort. You might want to try the CB or POR. Can't hurt to at least check the prices and availability. Good Luck.

January is typically slow, but since it will be a Holiday weekend, my guess is that yes, Pop Century will be slightly more busy than the rest of the week. However, so will the other resorts as well, especially the All-Stars.

I wouldn't worry about it... just relax. I'm sure you'll have a great time at Pop Century! I personally consider it a small step up from the All-Stars. It's definetly much nicer, IMHO. All the pop icons and memorabilia will really get both you and your parents to "Remember when..." (which is our little tag line)

Besides, January will be a great time to visit us. We'll have worked out any kinks that come up, and we'll know what we're doing by then! LOL

We'll also be there in Jan. although we decided not to arrive until the 21st to try and miss some of the holiday people. This will be our first time at a budget but we can't wait. I don't know why but it seems we're looking forward to this trip like it was our first. Hope to see you there. And by the way don't stress, nothing is perfect, I'm sure your parents just want to be with you.

We will be there on Jan 22 for 2 nights maybe I will see some people from here. I can't wait to get there.

We will be there on Dec 14th, are transferring over from ASmu. Any suggestions on when to check in at PC. We are planning on going to Animal Kingdom in am and have ps at Crystal Palace for 5:20 before MVMCP. It will be a busy day but dont want too miss anything!!!

I keep going back and forth between PC and POR for Jan. If you have two rooms and won't all be sharing a room, I would stick with PC. You won't need a pool slide in Jan and one bus stop is nice

Madi, I guess it depends on your expectations. What kind of lodging do you normally use? Personally for me Pop Century was a little gaudy and over the top (only saw it from the outside). Have you tried any moderates for discount codes and the like? (Check out mousesavers.com) Also Swan and Dolphin are well located and offer government, teacher, nurse discounts (noticed you are from Coralville- if anyone works for U of Iowa that counts as govt.)
I only mention the nicer resorts because you said it was once in lifetime and definitely a nicer resort will add to your experience.

After much thought and debate, we switched from POR to two rooms at PC. We have looked at the pics, and are very excited. We are also excited about having two bathrooms for five people! We have stayed at each of the All Stars, and enjoyed our stays there. I am sure we will enjoy it, and so will our kiddos.

We are used to staying at the value resorts. We don't expect anything else. I think Pop Century sounds like a step above as Tyler said. My concern is the crowds that the PC would attract with it being a new resort.

For those of you who thinj Pop Century looks tacky and gaudy from the highways... I urge you to stop by, and check it out from the inside. I have YET to meet anyone who did not immedietly change thier perspective once they saw the resort from the inside. The exterior of the buildings are fun, and whimsical. The interiors of the rooms and buildings are very subdued, using lots of darker colors. Browns, blues, grays and mustards. Every day, I keep getting more and more impressed with this resort.


As for crowds, we WILL be busy. During the holiday season, we will be at 100% occupancy. Come the new year, we're expecting 75-80% occupancy. (which will still be more than an All-Star at 100% capacity) All that said, the facilities are much larger, and should be able to accomodate everyone just fine.

Best of all, 50% of the rooms are connecting rooms. Thats right, HALF the rooms connect with another! This should please many.
