OK - I set Monday 4/19 as the first day of my healthy life. The last time I weighed this much I was 8 months preg. :o

I've been back & forth trying to decide whether to follow Weight Watchers or South Beach. I decided on South Beach - it seems easier - no weighing food & counting points. I don't see myself sticking to Atkins. I bought the South Beach DIet book & Cookbook at Sam's Club (total for both about $30). I have read the first several chapters already. I like what I have read so far.

We belong to the Y - about all we use it for is the boys' swimming lessons. So last week while the boys were swimming, I made an appointment to have a trainer show me how to use the equipment properly.

I am in the process of making a shopping list & will go get what I need to get me through the first few days. I am committed to following through the initial phase.

So "W.I.S.H. " me luck.

Any pointers?
 
Just wanted to offer you lots of encouragment for this new beginning in your life. You CAN do it! ::yes:: The hardest part is always the beginning - once you get used to your new way of life it will be second nature. I am not on the South Beach plan but many WISHers are so they can give you more plan specific advice but just wanted to congratulate you on your decision to work toward a healthy lifestyle! :)
 
Welcome aboard! I have been here for a week and I am glad that I finally took the plunge and joined this place.

I look forward to reading how everyone is doing. Changing my clippie for cheat free days.

And posting that I worked out.

I personally do WW. Weighing food and counting points is second nature to me now.

Good luck mom2boys, I have just joined the WISH board today and I'm taking the challege also. Last year I had lost 26.75# and as of last week I'm up 9# so I know were you are coming from. I was 13# from my 40# agreed lose from the Dr. and so close to Memorial Day goal. I go to a health club 4-5 times a week and trying to do the Atkins somewhat. Good Luck ! We all need it.:)
 

cyber high five!!

I have been working on a new contract with myself and monday is my absolute final day to start. I'm planning on restarting my food journal and point counting (WW) tomorrow, but Monday is my kick in the (jiggly) rear!

i have been stress eating for two weeks now! enough is enough!

I'm very proud of your proclaimation here -- we are here to support and encourage you. take it a day at a time, together we CAN do this!

It looks like Monday would be a good day to jump back on (the)board! I have been wanting to get back on program but have been dragging my feet...straight to the cookie jar!

My goal is to drop 50 pounds by way of daily walks on the treadmill and eating healthy.

Good going, mom2boys , the first step is always the hardest! My only advice would be to clear out all snacky-type things that you find yourself craving at stress times -- if they aren't there, you can't eat them! And drink lots and lots of water, and celebrate every achievement!! We're all here to cheer you on every step of the way!!
