Hello there,
I have sent out hundreds or so it seems of packages containing Key West, Brevard County and Orlando information - I am just curious has it helped anyone - I haven't had too much of a feed back and I just want to make sure it helped you and yours while visiting these different places - did those that I said would give a discount follow through? The reason being Norm and I will be back in Key West on June 27th and I want to try and research some more stuff going on down there - make sure it is worth your monies and time - I did speak with Tom from Echo who offers dolphin encounters and shipwrect snorkeling and I found him to be very sincere - told him I would meet up with him next month - he offered those that called him 10% his prices - I do not know him or his company, but it appears that he does go to all ends to please his customers - he isn't a conch, but has been there 16 years ------
Anyhow just drop me a note or just write here and give me some imput -
Thanks a bunch and hope all is blessed super good.
Always your buddy
Shirley & Norm

Sorry about that. Thank you again for sending me the package. As you may recall, due to a USPS problem, I didn't get the package until 2 days before sailing. I tried to look thru everything on our flight out, but there was so MUCH stuff!!

In any case, I thought I prepared a good plan for the family(Butterfly Farm, Trolley Tour, and Mallory Square at sunset); but, when we finally got to Key West, it was so hot that we didn't feel like doing anything other than swimming in the ship pools. Besides, it was the 1st full day on the ship, so our kids just wanted to explore the various activities onboard.

In summary, we didn't get off the ship until about 5 PM (we had late seating) to walk around the Mallory Square during sunset and to claim that we've been to Key West. It was too bad that we weren't able to take advantage on any of the discounts you so kindly provided in your package. Maybe next time...

Shirley,

The information you sent us last fall has been a great help in planning our time in Key West. Will let you know after we return on the discount issue if we attempt any. You guys are great.

Deb

Shirley,

I found that package that you sent was wonderful! Without it I never would have known about the Butterfly Conservatory (or been able to save the 10% on the admission).

I have passed on many of the booklets to one of my co-workers who was looking at driving down to Key West this summer.

Thank you too for the directions to the grocery store. That helped us pick up pop and water to use for the rest of the cruise.

Thanks for the imput - I really appreciate it - as I said, I just didn't know if it was worth gathering, getting it all together etc if the stuff I sent wasn't working - and again PLEASE PLEASE understand there has never been any strings attached to this service - I have had notes that said I was too something to be real - as I told one person - my spanish grandmother was a very strong believer that someone was only as good as their name - she drummed into our heads until she passed away - her words never was forgotten by her children and on down the line - so we all have always tried to remember never to blotch our name and bring shame to the generations of families connected - if I offer something or if I do something - it is just that and from the heart without strings attached - I appreciate those that answered - thank you.
MFan - Key West is very very warm and humity very very high - when we lived down there, we were never aware of the heat - we grew up without electrical fans, ac, etc - we did enjoy the cool breeze off the ocean and on the weekends everyone and families would sleep at the beaches - the children slept at the edge of the water - nope never had problems with that - in fact we looked forward to it - 95% of our food came from the ocean -
Anyhow another tidbit about Ol' Key West -
Thanks again
Shirley and Norm

Shirley,
Are you still offering these packages? We have a Western booked for 10/25 and I haven't even begun to think about what we were going to do outside the ship. If so I would greatly appreciate a package :-)
Amanda

Amanda,
Anyone who is interested can send for these packages - all you have to do is send me a big manilla envelope with about $3.50 worth of stamps attached and make it self addressed - send it to The Perfect Gift, 6550 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida 32920 - Now if you are going AFTER June 30th, just wait since I am going back down at the end of June and hope to come back with more information and I hope that some of the merchants will work with me to give discounts also to find an honest gift/tee shirt shop down there -
Have a great time getting ready for your cruise -
Always
Shirley

Hi Shirley,
I passed your name and email info on to my daughter. Her husband is giving her a week stay in Key West for her college graduation present. So I told her to send you the manilla envelope with the stamps to get information on things to do. I think she also emailed you asking about the hotel they were going to stay in. Anyway, thanks so much for providing this great service. I can't wait for my trip to Key West......maybe some day.
:D

Hi Shirley,

I have had so much fun going through all the stuff you have sent me for Key West. There are so many brochures with so much info. I can't wait to go to the Butterfly Conservatory. Our cruise is in October so I'll let you know how my planning went.

Thank you so much again!

Renee

Hi Shirley.

I will be sending you the envelope and can't wait to get the info. How far in advance should I order a basket? We will be cruising on 12/6/03. I have a DD who will be turning 3 on the cruise and would love a basket for her (and also my DD6, can't leave her out!).

Thanks.:D

I am glad this was bumped up - as I said on another thread that Norm and I would be leaving for Key West on the 26th of this month and hope at that time to check out numberous of things to see if they were up to puff - many know my main reasons for going to Key West before was to watch over my uncle who was a die hard conch and would not leave the "rock" - he has now pass on and I still have to go down there to take care of "Stuff" that still needs to be done which is mainly the gravesite so that is why I am going down this time only now on a tourist status with lots of time on my hands -
the packets should be ordered for early enough where you can take the time to read over it and just have an idea of what is doing on down there before you go - also you can go to keywestcitizen and read the local newspaper to see what all is happening tho the pamplets are better - many have coupons that can be used and helps save on expenses.
If I can help further, just let me know
Always
Shirley

Shirley,

I am the consumate planner.

Your generous package was just what I needed.

While we aren't going for a while (thus I can't answer about the discounts), It has :

1. allowed me to orient myself as to locations of things on the island vis a vis the dock.

2. allowed me to include/exclude things quickly

3. given me tips I'd NEVER get anywhere else (e.g. panhandlers, t-shirts shops).

4. Reinforced my belief that people who travel are some of the most generous in the world. The kindness they bestow on strangers is staggering. THIS MEANS YOU!

I Do have a question for you.

What weather can we expect in late December?

Thanks so much.

Jim

Jim and everybody --I really really did appreciate your notes and Jim I got such a kick from your note - I was so glad to see that it does help the cruisers when they get to my hometown - Now for the weather - that is another thing - that would be hard to answer - when I was "growing" up, just about every day of the year, we could go to the beach and going swimming - I have seen it through the years, where we spent Christmas on picnics at the beachs and keys - NOW THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN - I have seen it so cold that we just couldn't get warm enough BUT you have to remember what is cold to me, is very comfortable for you especially if you come from real cold states - I freeze when it is in the 60's but that is due to the thin blood - my daughter who lives upstate New York comes down here in the winters - she is comfortable in just jeans and a blouse while I am bundled up like I was living at the North pole - SUGGESTION - go to the Key West Citizen which is our local paper in Key West and it will give you a whole lot of information on the weather and other goodies happening down there- you can sorta keep track of it that way -
Glad I was able to help - I will have more information when I come back from this next trip this month.
Take care all and God bless each and all.
Love you all
Always
Shirley
