I am confused about waitlisting wording.

If the disney site shows this:
Availability ( 6 of 7 Nights Available )
Waitlist This Entire Stay: Jun 18, 2014 - Jun 25, 2014 (490 Vacation Points)

Other available dates are not valid for booking as they fall outside the allowable arrival date.

When I waitlist the whole stay does that mean I have the last 6 nights and just waitlisting the first day? Sorry but I find this confusing being it says the 6 nights are available.

No, it means you don't want to book anything now but rather only book if you can get all seven nights. So if you want to book the 6 nights and wait list the one missing night then go ahead and book those 6 nights now.

Sorry I'm still not getting it. The first night is not available. If I waitlist the whole stay am I guaranteed those next six available nights? I can't book those nights because they are outside my booking window. Is this correct?

Because the first night is not available, you cannot book nights 2-7 now. The only option is to wait list the entire thing. The wait list request will not be filled unless all 7 nights open up simultaneously. They will NOT hold nights 2-7 waiting for night 1 to open up.

You could log on tomorrow and try to book nights 2-7 but it sounds like availability is very limited and someone else could beat you to it if you aren't quick.

You must be exactly 7 months out from the first day of your trip (or 11 months out at a home resort). The message is telling you that, because the first night is not available, and that is the only night within the booking window, your only option is to waitlist the entire stay. You can't book the other nights, yet, because you can't book a reservation with a check-in date that's outside the booking window.

If you waitlist, you are waitlisting the entire reservation. You're not booking any of the nights. They are not held or guaranteed. Nothing gets booked unless/until that first night becomes available and the whole reservation can be booked together.

If you want to piecemeal a reservation, you have to do it manually. Tomorrow, you can try again. If the second night of your trip is still available, you can book it and the next 5 nights together. You can then waitlist the one missing night at the beginning of your trip. Get online early, though, you may see that those available rooms disappear quickly if the day before is already sold out.

tjkraz states it perfectly. I did not understand that the "other" nights were the 6 available nights. I thought that you were trying to book a stay longer than 7 nights initially.
If I were you I would be online at 8:00 EST tomorrow and grab those 6 nights if they are still available. Is this for a VB cottage or some other tough to get room? In the meantime wait list the entire 7 days and modify the wait list after you see what you can get tomorrow. Good luck?

Wait lists do not use points until they are filled. So you will be fine to wait list all 7 days and then book what you can tomorrow. Just be sure to change the wait list if you are able to book days tomorrow. Hope you get all 6 days tomorrow. Then you will have 7 months for that other night to come through.

Thanks I am actually planning ahead for next week. Hopefully it might open up but want to be prepared. This is what it looked like all week so wanted to make sure I understood the system. Thanks again for your help.
