I am blessed

I have realized today that I am just really blessed in life, thanks to the DIS.

I grew up wealthy. I had all sorts of wonderful things and experiences. But I was also the child of people who did not grow up wealthy (at least my Dad who makes those big bucks that gave me a great childhood), so I had practical roots. If that makes sense.

I am no longer wealthy (it’s not genetic), but I am far from lacking. I can give my son a $300 birthday party to make his dreams come true (extenuating circumstances). I have fantastic health & dental insurance. Great friends who think I’m hilarious. I get to take two vacations a year, one to Disney!! I can get haircuts at $95 per pop from a top stylist in my little old town. I never have to worry. And if something, God forbid, were to happen, I know I have fallbacks.

Tonight, I just am really thankful. Life’s hard, I’ve encountered much, but I have always known that in the end I would be OK. Some people just don’t have that.

I am too. I have a wonderful son, who I get to hug and love on every day. I have a good job, where I am needed and get to make a difference...most of the time. I have a nice house and plenty of food to eat (and my butt's too big because of it). I am healthy. I have wonderful friends. And, just a few minutes ago, I watched my DS sleep. That is peaceful and blessed.

If you dont consider that wealthy I must be living in poverty!! Some people I know think im crazy for spending $30 on a haircut.

I have VERY difficult hair. I had an appointment canceled on me and they suggested that I get a cut with someone else. When I said why that wouldn't work, it was "Oh, that's you?" $95 is cheap compared to what I would have to pay in NY or LA or Chicago. My stylist is top-notch, a lead in fashion week.

I'm lucky if I get to escape to ProCuts every 6 months.

I know I am blessed because I have been given 3 wonderful kids.. DD is going on 16 and growing up and every day I just look at her in amazement at the young woman she is becoming.. :cloud9: I am extremely blessed that DD9 is getting healthier as each year passes.. she was very sick for many years and still struggles with her scoliosis but I know things could be worse..

We have a roof over our heads, I have a great job and am able to pay the bills.. :goodvibes

I also consider myself extremely blessed and it has nothing to do with wealth (although that would be nice ;) )

I know what you mean. I grew up very poor without any fallbacks. I love the fact that I now have some.

I am quite comfortable in my own right, but if I really, really needed help I could get it from multiple sources.

It's a really scary world when there is no safety net, and many people do not have one.

Like you I am thankful for what I do have.

I'm blessed to be living and having a wonderful family and friends.:goodvibes
the parties, vacations etc. don't make me feel any more blessed then others
who don't have it.

Oh boy, forgive me. I have three--THREE--terrific little boys. Oh, they keep me on my toes, but I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. Even the orny one who suffers from middle child syndrome. :rotfl: And seeing how we've almost lost each and every one of them at some point in time, that middle one a couple of times, I'm so thankful that they are up driving me crazy right now v. not here at all.

What a great post and a reminder to all of us to consider the things that make our lives blessed. It may not be wealth or all the things our heart desires but I am sure that each of us has things that we are thankful for in our lives. Thank you for giving time to pause and think of those things.

It's not that I equate being blessed to money, it's just the dental thread and welfare rant thread made me realize just how lucky in life I am.

I have been blessed also and tell people all the tisme that I am blessed....WE are financilly in good standing, I am a SAHM and have 2 great kids and a marriage of 26 years...

We travel all the time (love going on DCL) and have some heath problems but we are overcoming them.

I am soooo thankfull for everything we have even all out materialistic things(must have them):thumbsup2

We live in a big house on top of a mountain with a view of the ocean and the mountains...with a big swimming pool and hot tub in the back...We have all Ethan Allen furniture that I wanted my shole life and finally got.

I am not bragging mind you just blessed that God granted all this to me...I love my Family and thank God everyday for them...I could go on and on but you get how I feel....

So to all of you have a blessed day and peace out:hippie: ;)

Ditto! Sure sounds wealthy in my book. lol

I have a great husband of 31 years, 2 daughters ages 20 and 23 that make me proud every day and are good, kind people. I have a nice home, food in my fridge, vacations every year and my heart and soul are at peace.

I live in a pretty peaceful country and every day I hope I am grateful.

Nice thread...made me stop and think.

I am Blessed to have sooooo many wonder Friends and Family who Love and Support me in every thing I do..

I am sooo blessed to have a wonderful husband that I don't want or need to complain about like my friends do (when they say "you know what I mean" I can't say "yup, DH is the same way"). I have a healthy daughter, a home, a job and a wonderful God. DH and I grew up on welfare, and now we're not. The system worked for us. I survived a disease with a large mortality rate. What more can I say? Oh, I am sooo blessed that I never had to go thru what the children from Oprah's new school have to, and hopefully, neither does my daughter.

Well, I have to say I am Blessed also. :thumbsup2 How lucky I am to have such a wonderful Husband who let me stay home and raise my four kids while they were younger. We have been married 25 years and I have to say I'm truly happy & content. We have a great life together and I try not to take things for granted. I sometimes wish my DH didn't have to work so hard so maybe winning mega-millions tonight might be nice! LOL. Just kidding. :)
