UM NO!!!! My mom had POA of my gma for 4 years and she NOT ONE TIME HELPED MY MOM!! she just took poa from her and is now trying to make her not see her own mom!!

my mom lived with my gma and took care of her and everything with NO help from any of her sibs...including poaying 200 extra a month to pay for her meds!

Thanks topper, I did I went for a walk in the cold to help me calm down as I love my gma she is a wonder strong woman..if it was for her alzheimer's she would know what is going on and would really be very mad at my aunt and tell her so...I know my gma as I lived with her for a very long time when I was young and I lived a block from her for a very long time...yes I am close o her..

Alzheimers..... Was she legally declared incompetent?? Was there a court hearing? Was a judge involved? If not I would consider talking to a lawyer. You can't just say someone is imcompetent to have them declared as such. It has to be proved. If the aunt and your mother want POA the judge would decide who gets it, not the unilateral decision of your aunt.

We did and we were told that by the time we got everything in order gma could be gone by then and we just don;t have the money either..the lawyer we talked to said she defiantly did it illegally...we don;t really know exactly how but she did...thanks...I feel so powerless for my gma..

aw....I think those of you not going to the expensive birthday party should have one at the place where Grandma lives. I'm sure they have a "family room" you can use for a family get-together. I'm sure you won't need Aunt's permission to do that. Check with the facility. GMa will probably love seeing the rest of you.
