I am back from WDW!

It was a wonderful trip and I am sad to be home. I will post a trip report in a couple of days.

I wasn't sure how much fun we would have due to things going really bad before we left. My daughter, Kimmi (20), was in a car accident Thursday night, the night before we left. We was okay, but her car was totalled. Someone ran a red light and ran right into the passenger side of her car. I had taken my car to the dealer for service while I was gone, so she had no car to drive. I had to do some quick thinking and calling around to get her transportation for work. By about Sunday, that stress was wearing off, and I was having a blast.

Then, on Tuesday, she called and said her boyfriend's truck was out in front of our house, and someone drove down the street and ran into it twice. Bent the axle (it's a big 4-wheel drive Ford). He couldn't drive it home, so he just pulled it into the driveway. Now, he has no car. Kimmi was able to get my car from the dealer on Tuesday morning.

Then, on Wednesday, as she was pulling my car out of the driveway, she hit Chris' truck (the big Ford with wide bumpers). It put a huge scratch on my cute little baby blue Beetle and dislodged the brake and tail light. One week, three cars wrecked. I think that may be a record. Wednesday night we had Cirque tickets, and I was afraid I'd be unable to enjoy it after all that happened. However, once it started, I as enthralled until the end. Great show.

It was really hard to come home to all the reality. I am now working with the insurance company to see if she'll get enough money to at least pay off her loan on the totalled car, help her look for another car to buy, get a rental for her to drive, get my car fixed, and push Chris to get the truck towed from my driveway.

Ack, I think I need a vacation already!!!

a few years ago......the insurance company of the person who did the damage had to pay for our loaner.....did she look into that.....

Yes, the other insurance company will pay for a rental, but Kimmi's not yet 21 (will be 10/26), does not have a credit card or telephone number in her name, so they would not allow her to rent it by herself. Steve is the co-signor on the loan and his name is with hers on the registration, so he has to go sign for it, give then a credit card for security and then she can drive it. So, today she will have a rental until she can find another car.

My husband is a Collision Repair Manager at a Autodealership.
He say's accidents comes in (3's) for a person or a family.

I'm glad no one was hurt. It's a good thing you were at the happiest place on earth when it happened so you wouldn't stress too much about it all.

I'm glad you had fun. I'm sorry about the wrecks too. I can't imagine what you thought the third time.
I came too close to being in a head-on wreck this weekend. I sideswiped a guardrail to avoid the car. Everyone is fine, but my car needs work now.

Serena, I'm glad you're okay. It's amazing how stressful car wrecks can be. Kimmi was so emotional after the first one. By the time she called Wed with news of my car, you'd've thought it was much worse. She was so hysterical.

Shannon, true, if I hadn't been at WDW at the time, I'm sure I would have been much more stressed than I was. It worked out well to be gone. It forced Kimmi to deal with it on her own. It was hard, but at 20, it's time she learned how to deal with it.

OhMari: I hope they just come in threes. I was in the Burger King drive thru this morning (no food in the house for breakfast), and the guy in front of my put his car in reverse and back up so fast I heard his tires squeal. If I would've already ordered, he would have ran right into me. I guess the person in front of him thought she put her car in drive, but it was reverse and back into him. The were fighting in the parking lot when I left. I was lucky I wasn't involved in that.

I just want to park my car and walk from now on!

Welcome home, I think! Seriously I am sorry about all the car accidents. Sounds like the kids were having a rough time. I hope all works out ok with the insurance.

i was doing the "one year ago today, i was at..." all last week. so sad... in fact...one year ago today, i was playing around at DTD! then had to catch our flight home

Brandie: I was sometimes thinking the same thing. Like, "Remember when we were kicked out of MK for talking too long?" That was funny. Also, on 9/11, they did a lot of patriotic stuff, but it just wasn't quite like last year. Cirque was amazing. Well worth the money. It is something that can't really be described. I didn't see any Disers this time. That was weird. Last September I met sooo many.

Welcome back, Kelli. We missed you. Glad you had a good trip but YIKES at all of those car wrecks. I hope this is your allotment of bad car Karma forever. Do you think that might be bad <i>CARma</i>?

I'm so glad no one was injured. Cars you can replace, it's not inexpensive, convenient or fun, but it can be done. Thank goodness Kimmie wasn't hurt.
