I am at BWV now

I have a question we checked into the BWV today and we are staying in a studio. Our room has a 19 inch tv and no DVD player? We have stayed a SSR and BCV and always had a larger TV & I thought the DVD player was standard? We also have no coffee table? Is this normal?

No, there are not supposed to be DVD players in the studios. Only in one br and grand villas (or 1br portion of a 2 br).

I am not sure about TV size.

There have also never been coffee tables in the studios at BWV, so that is normal for that resort. I know the BCV studios (and possibly everywhere else) DO have coffee tables in the studios, so you are correct on that I think the coffee table at SSR is even a softer rest that can work for a foot rest also, which I loved!

BWV is supposed to start renovations in May, which is reported to include flat screen TV's. I suspect the reason for no coffee table is there is no place to put it when the sofa is pulled out. BWV was the first hotel like DVC and I think they made some poor design choices, such as only 1 set of elevators.

You could ask about the DVD, but we have never had one in a BW studio. I think they have always had the small TV's. I know my computer monitor is larger than the television. I'm sure you'll have a great time! Hopefully it's a beautiful day!!

We stay at BWV alot -- at least 4 trips a year and mostly a studio. Just recently in January.

They don't have DVD players in the studios.

Only tiny 19 inch TVs.

No coffee tables. But we usually bring in the one small table from outside.

OP. There is nothing wrong with your room. Don't attempt to adjust the picture........this all is standard in the studio room.

I had heard that you can request the DVD player, but we've never had.

At WLV -- there is a tiny TV, but a DVD player and coffe table.


I'm happy to hear they may renovate soon as the rooms are looking pretty rundown and shabby. Our thermostat did not work well and we did report it a few weeks ago.

Well, that stinks. So, we can check out movies for free as one of our DVC perks, but we can't watch them? That kind of bums me out ... we leave for a BWV studio stay in 40 days.

I know for a fact that my parents had a DVD player in their studio at VWL last year b/c we couldn't get the DVD player in our one bedroom to work, so we all hiked down to their studio to watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

I agree, there was no DVD player in our BWV studio, but there was one in our VWL studio and our AKV studio.

Thanks everyone. We are having a great stay, we were just surprised. After staying in a studio at both BCV and SSR we were very suprised to see the small tv and no DVD player. As someone else stated we can rent DVD's for free being DVC members which we did on both our other stays. Thanks for all of the great responses!

What's even worse is that the BW concierge deluxe rooms, that you pay $$ for don't even have DVD players. I was shocked. Flat screens but no DVD players.

You can get a small inexpensive DVD player at Wal-mart for around $35-
We bought one a few years back just to have while traveling- and if we forget it or it is taken it will not be such a big deal- We have had it going on 4 years and it still plays perfect- also has a remote and does all regular functions. Only thing is the TV must have the inputs for a DVD- Which they should- same as connecting a game system...

I didn't even realize free DVD rentals were available as we usually spend most of our time in the parks...but nice to know it's an option in case we ever have a trip with bad weather or something. Wherever do you get the movies? Are they at the store?? Those little old 19" TV's that are at VWL & OKW are relics. Museum quality. We're staying in studios at SSR in May and BCV & VB in August...I figured we should expect the same dumpy little TV's at all of these resorts??

At VWL, they are in the gift shop ... you just have to ask and present your DVC membership and room key.

We actually checked a movie out for the first time last April. We hit the wall one day mid-week, so we got take out from Roaring Forks and and watched a movie that evening. It was nice and we were all ready to go again the next day.

Not much to add on the studio thing......but IT IS COLD COLD COLD here in WI and I'm jealous and wish I was at BWV!!!!!!!!
