I am a ride chicken. Can I still ride Forbidden Journey?

At Disney I have never been on Space Mountain or Test Track. I have never tried Star Tours though I am a huge Star Wars fan. I even get slightly nauseous on Soarin'. Is it at all possible for me to ride Forbidden Journey? I may have DH and DD12 check it out for me first, but I thought I would ask here.

I think if you get nauseous on Soarin' you should probably avoid FJ.

Let me tell you, I've done Soarin' (loved it), Test Track (loved it), RnRC, ToT, BTMRR, etc. I will never, EVER set butt on FJ again. EVER. I got off that ride soooooo queasy, cold sweats, praying I wouldn't be sick. It was terrible! I don't know what it was, but for me it was The. Worst. Ever.

BUT, everyone else seemed fine! I have no idea why the ride affected me the way it did, but thousands of people can deal with it. So I dunno. :confused3

Personally, I'd say take a walk through the castle and enjoy that. In retrospect, I wish I'd just done that. The ride itself left me feeling pretty off for a good 20-30 minutes!

If Soarin' makes you feel queasy, don't go on FJ. I am fine with Soarin', but FJ made me feel really bad (praying for the ride to be over quickly kind of bad... and it's a long ride!). As was suggested above, take the castle tour instead, and then enjoy the beautifully themed Potter area of the park at leisure. It's really worth exploring!

Actually, I can handle teacups just fine (even with my 12 yo spinning like mad). Anyway, looks like I will be skipping this ride.

Imagine Soarin', moving all over the place. Jolting you sideways, then forwards so that you feel like you're going to face plant on a wall..then backwards quickly and around and around. It is intense. I actually did Dragon Challenge and felt better after that than after Forbidden Journey. Now, don't misunderstand me...I love FJ, but it is intense and it does jostle you around and really affect your tummy!!

Keep in mind too, you may have just had a "moment." I know some times, and it is fairly rare, I'll have what I call an inner ear moment. Things start spinning, nausea etc., for no reason. Its possible if you went when it was hot, the heat, dehydration etc., could have effected you more than normal, in such a way that any similar ride may have effected you similarly at that time. Dunno for sure, but its a theory, things like that have happened to me. But other times I'm fine. I know spiderman normally doesn't have much of an effect on me, but it did one time, when I was hot, maybe a little dehydrated. I'm not a doctor, so this is all speculation, but just sayin'.

I did the FJ the beginning of Jan. I enjoyed it but it was sickening. I will do it once every trip only for the picture. Even DH said he had a hard time and he loves The Simpson ride which I was very sick on. I think everyone should experience it. You never know, you may love it, but you don't want to skip it and then do the "I wish I had".

I'm a ride chicken too - don't do coasters at all and got sick on Star Tours. I rode FJ TWICE and did OK. The movement of the seats isn't bad (none of the stomach lurching drops that I hate on coasters). The worst part was watching the flying scenes on the screen. I just closed my eyes whenever the focus seemed to be on flying rather than objects/creatures. I did make sure that I left my jacket in the locker and drank water right before I went on the ride so that I didn't get too hot - that seemed to bring on the problems on Star Tours. Of course, my husband who never gets sick was a new shade of green when he exited....so you never know.....:confused3

For me, as I think more about it, I think that was true for me. I had the same experience as DisDreamin', but I think I'll give it another shot in the future. Make sure I'm hydrated, fed properly, not feeling under the weather, had enough sleep, etc etc etc, and try it again.

Because when I made sure I felt healthier before trying Spiderman a second time (first time was a few hours after FJ, and that did NOT go well), I quite liked it.

ok this is worrying me too ...

I LOVE Soarin' - its my absolute favourite
I have no problems on test track, space mountain, star tours and I loved the Simpsons and Spiderman but I felt the worst I ever have felt on Misson Space - I spent the rest of the day in bed when we rode it on soft opening ... I've never dared try it again.

So do I try FJ or not? the flying thing worries me - I felt sick watching Hancock (the film) when he was flying!

Hmmm...we went in January on a cool, rainy morning, so likely not a hydration issue, but I hear what you are saying. The problem is, the bad feeling started long before things really got rockin' on the ride. It was almost immediate. And it was tons better with my eyes closed, which, when I did have inner an ear issue years ago was totally the opposite of that. With that, closing my eyes made it far worse. :confused3

I still don't know what happened, but we did the little coaster shortly after FJ and that was fine. Another :confused3 - I just know I don't have fond memories of riding FJ. :lmao:

I'm iffy on FJ, too. I don't usually get sick on rides, but was sooo queasy after Everest in AK last trip. I had to sit down for awhile and felt off for pretty much the rest of the day. My friend was very ill after FJ and because of my recent Everest experience, she advised against my riding it. It ruined her her day and since we aren't at Univ. for very long, I'm leaning toward not riding. I don't want to end up missing other experiences!

I think there are two issues on FJ - the motion sickness from watching the screen as you are hurtled through the air, and the motion sickness from being flung about, ending up on your back at one point. I think it was the motion of the ride vehicle that made me feel bad - I didn't like the feeling of being thrown backwards and riding that way. Others are affected because they are watching the screen fly by (the Soarin' effect) - I've never felt bad at all on Soarin'. But Primeval Whirl makes me want to throw up!

This is ME down to a T!! No problems at all with Test Track, Soarin, Space Mountain. I  The Simpson's, Spiderman....any simulator ride. Big coasters like The Hulk I don't do. I think it's the "fear of dying" thing :lmao: That being said I tried Mission Space last year (my husband and kids said it was nothing for me to worry about)...well let me tell you, I didn't have the "stomach sick" feeling..I had an "OMG I'm going to pass out" feeling during the ride :scared1:". I seriously thought I was going to pass out. It was a weird feeling.

I really want to try FJ. I don't want to have the "Oh, I wish I had of..." feelings afterwards. :sad1:

Motion Sickness pills, such as dramamine or bonine do wonders! THe first time I went on, I had taken the pills...no problem and did FJ twice. I went back a few days later and rode twice in a row, but forgot the pills......was pretty queasy after the second ride.

You sound like me. Except I have no trouble with M:S. I don't ride the big coasters because that dropping feeling makes me sick to my stomoch and makes my legs numb. It is SO strange - I seriously have trouble walking after a big coaster!

That said FJ is NOTHING like a big coaster or M:S. I would try it if you are ok with simulators. It really isn't that bad. Let us know if you try it and what you think.

Ok, I really wasn't sure about this ride for my DS who is 10. Now after reading this I'm not even sure about me on this ride. :rotfl: I don't really know what the ride really is. Is it a coaster? Is it a motion simulator? Can it be compared to another ride at WDW( Ive never been to US) I can't do spin rides but coasters I'm ok with. Now my DS can do spin rides but is terrified of coasters( had a panic attack on Space Mountain). So I'm not sure now if we should skip this or try it. Any thoughts?:confused3
