I filed my Pinpics complaint Saturday. No response, and I won't hold my breath for one either.
Now I too feel like posting -- I am only trading with those I know!
I turned off my TA.

I've only been burned once about a year ago & it was no fun. It is more fun to trade with folks "I know" than ones I don't know. I keep a list - do not trade with these folks. The list keeps getting longer . Then again I have a card file system of those "friends" I have traded with & would gladly trade again.

Anyone want to send an email of their "list"? Am I even allowed to ask this?

I hope I don't have bad luck-although I know it's inevitable. Any advice you guys can offer- besides "check references"?

I've always wondered what the reference board really did, anyway. If someone is suspended, will it tell you so? All I see are good posts or "no info to display" which doesn't say much.

I'm with you. I will no longer trade with someone I dont know. It isn't worth the risk.

It seems like the list of bad traders is getting longer and longer. Michael (Brer-Rabbit) just had a horrendous experience with a pinpics trade...the most horrible story I have ever heard. Unfortunately, when this happens we have absolutely no recourse. The bad traders are ruining it for the rest of us. I think the days of trading through the mail are quickly coming to an end.

Abeyst, we are not allowed to post names on the boards, but I dont' see any reason why we can't "talk amongst ourselves" and share the names of bad traders with each other. I don't see anything wrong with trying to protect our friends. What do you all think?

I knew we couldn't post names here, and I wasn't sure if PM'ing was also a no-no, that's why I suggested email. I'd just hate to see the "rookies" like me get burned because we had to live and learn, so to speak, when there's so many people here who have years of experience and knowledge under their belt that could teach us a lot.

If noone wants to email or thinks this is a bad idea, would it be possible to contact one or two of you guys for a personal reference of a trader in the future?

Absolutely. I fully believe in information sharing. I never used to keep a list, but have just started doing so. Also, I'm seriously cutting down on TA trades. It's just not worth the risk, and besides...eventually Mario ends up with the pin in his trader book so I can trade for it in person!

I share info, as others share with me too -- Good and traders.
I started keeping a spreadsheet some time ago. I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing it. It includes the names of those who gave me the information/experience.
The best thing is to e-mail a few of the references. And I do that quite often. But I also have started out NEW traders and not felt uneasy.
With this particular bad one I saw a reference name listed who is a VERY good pin buddy of mine. So I *assumed* I was safe. NEVER ASSUME.
But to anyone, I suggest NOT listing yourself as a Dizpins reference for someone you would never trade with again, or have traded with only in person.
Both bad traders who have burned me, had references left that (IMHO) should not have had them.

I've read about the pin trading, but don't even know how to "work" Pinpics, so am simply an onlooker. I am so sorry that some people don't hold up their end of a trade; that takes the magic out.

I'm also a member of this club...
but I keep on trading with PinPics... I know that about 99% of my trades are good...

And I meet new nice people over the TA... it is worth doing it... Don't give up Barb... We would have never met if the TA wouldn't excist....

It's a shame this discussion has to come up so often, as it happens so much. I have had only one really bad trade experience. Thank goodness!

I have had my TA turned off for quite a while. It was mainly because I was irritated at the lop-sided trades I recieved. Then I realized after time, that cannot always be helped as a computer controls it, not a human, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I finally figured out how to use the TA. And I always follow up a TA request with a personal e-mail.

As for people that just don't follow through, I am NOT trying to defend them, especially if they are true "stinkers"!! But I must admit, That over the last 5-6 months, even though my TA was off I would still get requests for trade from PP. As many of you know, my life has been on a roller coaster with my parents. And because of that, I was called on at the last minute to do, care, get, whatever for my parents. So a trade took the back seat. HOWEVER!!! I ALWAYS e-mailed to let them know of my situation, and to know that I was still alive and would follow through. And I always did. I am still caring for my mom since daddy passed, and I still have challenges. She's been in and out of the hospital, dr's appointments etc etc, fun fun!!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, try to give benifit of the doubt, you never know what may be going on in a persons life. I just know mine has been crazy. But I do still love getting those LBE'S!!! And I love to trade and value the wonderful friendships that comes as extra rewards in doing so.

But on the other hand if they are a true "STINKER", go get em!!!!!
