Which do you think is better? We're coming from Ohio. DF's parents say 95 but I've got Dave Hunter's book for 75 and everyone here seems to take 75.

Thanks for the imput

well seeing that you are from the cleveland area i would assume that you would run down 77 to 20, For me it would appear to be a longer distance to head over to I-75 than going east to 95. if you were to take 71 to 75 then you have to travel through Cincy, lexington, knoxville, chattanooga, atlanta and macon which could mean traffic delays traffic during this time of year on 75 is pretty heavy. but since everyone seems to want to travel at 80mph or better on 75 it might not be too bad. i dont know if this helps any,but i would take the shortest mileage with fewer cities. what does AAA or mapquest give for directions?

Just took a quick look at a map. It appears to be six of one and half dozen of another distance-wise.

Like FWFamily4Life said, the main difference between the two routes is that I-75 involves a lot more metro areas than taking I-77 down to I-95. On I-77 you go through Charleston, WV, Charlotte, and Columbia before you hit I-95. From there on down to Orlando, the only metro area you go through on 95 is Jacksonville. I've never found the traffic through Jacksonville too bad, but I may have just hit it at the right times.

We are driving to WDW from south of Detroit this June. We have taken both ways on previous trips. Try 75 one way and 95 the other and see for your self. This year we have scheduled 3 days down so we can stop and smell the roses. We will be taking 75 down and then crossing over to pick-up 95 and hit Daytona Beach. If we don't encounter any problems we will probably take 75 straight back.

Great suggestions!

Thanks! I think we're going to try 77/95 as it seems to be the favorite of our friends and relatives.

I see that there are tons of things written about 75. Does anyone know of anything written about this other route?

Thanks!

Have you looked at the following, here on the DIS!

Important I-95 exits - Fuel, lodging, dining and rest areas for the following states.
Florida | S. Carolina | Georgia | N. Carolina | Virginia

Oops. It looks like the links didn't stick. Try this:

In addition to the DIS site link given above, you might also want to check out The I-95 Exit Information Guide OnLine. They have got a lot of good information online (restaurants, lodging, road construction, etc.), and also have an "Exit Information Guide" that you can purchase in either paperback or ebook format. I have used the paperback version and found it quite handy.

Thanks!

Now if I could find info for 77...

We're in the Cleveland area and we've done both. 75 is a slightly longer distance (about 100 miles) but you don't go throught the mountains which can slow your down in bad weather. We're going in June and taking 75 on the way down and 95/77 on the way back. Planning on stopping alot on the way home (Savannah area and in the Blue Ridge Pkwy area). No matter which route your choose, the drive home always seems looonger than the trip down. Especially during spring! It just gets colder and greyer the further north you drive!
