I did a little internet searching but couldn't really get an answer. Is anyone from the New England area able to shed some light on the condition of I-95? Is it all still open thru those three states?

I'm driving down on May 27.. and I'm imagine it would be cleared up by then.. but the Weather Channel is still calling for a LOT more rain in the next 10 days.

Thanks,

J

I'm not even sure that parts of it are closed now. I'm just west of Boston and while the news reports on the flooding are constant, I have heard nothing about any closers of Rt95.

Part of RT 495 have been closed in the Lawrence area but I would expect it to open in the next day or so.

The 10 day forecast down here is better with sun expected beginning Wed thru the weekend.

I do not believe that it is shut down completely. At one point today it was down to one lane near exit 1 and 2. And in Maine I believe it was down to one lane also. Alot of the interior roads are where the major damage has happened. If you go to www.wmur.com that have alot of the information as to what is open/closed etc...

It's not closed entirely. The NH DOT site has nothing about closures on it now, or even reduced lane use. ME has some areas that are reduced lane use, but according to the site, it's because of previously scheduled construction (north of Augusta, southbound). I know one of the kids on my floor told me the normal 1 hour trip back to school took him 4, so it's definitely possible that MA had some problems. But the highways should be in good shape by the 27th. It's the low lying interior roads that are having problems

The only road closure at this point is not I-95 in MA, but Rt. 1 from I-95 to Saugus due to flooding. This has an effect on I-95 with the traffic taking I-95 to I-93 to get around the road closure and into Boston. I would predict this closure will end within 2 days of the rain ending as it did the last time we had heavy rains causing a similar closure. Just as a heads up, the NH tolls now take EZ Pass, so you can fly through the tolls if you have an EZ Pass or Fast Pass transponder.
