I 65 to I24 to I 75 route from MI to FL route

I would avoid Louisville like the plague right now. The I-64 bridge between Kentucky and Indiana is shutdown (and will be for at least 6 months). Everyone who normally uses that bridge is now forced onto the I-65 bridge between Louisville and Indiana.

I suggest I65 to Indy, I74 to Cinci, I275 around Cinci to I75.

That route would be way longer I'm guessing

It may be longer in miles, but a big time saver. :)

From what I've been reading, Louisville is a disaster as far as traffic goes. Avoid it at all costs.

According to Google maps, it adds about 40 miles to the trip. If you want to take the chance through Louisville, go ahead, but I bet you'll be slowed down AT LEAST 30 minutes (commuters are saying their 30 minute "normal" route now takes 1 1/2-2 hours). You asked about current construction, I would say this qualifies.

Wow a 30 minute commute turns into a 1 1/2-2 hour commute :headache: Yep this is exactly why I asked. Hubby was looking at map and saying not worth going so far out of our way but you all are say it is THANK YOU THANK YOU. Made him read this so hopefully he will agree. Or I may have to argue big time lol.

If anyone has traveled this route lately how was it? Any construction to worry about?

Your title says MI to FL...MI is Michigan. So, why would you go anywhere near Louisville? I-75 goes from Michigan all the way to Florida. Louisville is way west of 75. No need to ever get off of I-75 at all...stay on it all the way to FL.

Maybe because we are on west side of MI. I 75 is 3 1/2 hours away from us :thumbsup2

What's another 3 or 4 hours on the road....pish-shaw...lol. You'll already be in the car anyway.

What about 65 to 74? It looks like 74 shoots straight to 75 from Indianapolis, southeast to Cincinnati. Avoid the whole Louisville mess altogether.

I just drove this route (sort of) going from Jacksonville, FL back up to Chicago area. Not sure when the Louisville construction started I went through there around the 10th of Sept and again on the way home about a week and a half after that and there seemed more traffic then normal, but not enough to justify driving 3-4 hours out of the way. I'm sure if you are driving this say rush hour,it will be a lot worse of course. Otherwise the rest of that route seemed the same as when Ive done it before.

Yeah if you can you should avoid i65 in Louisville from about 5:30am - 8/9am if possible due to all traffic now flowing onto I65 due to the Sherman Mitton bridge closure. Not sure how bad it is in the afternoon.

As far as going North I would avoid it the same time in the morning and in the afternoon from 2:30 - 6 due to it being gridlock from the Bridge all the way back to I-264 in Louisville.

I would avoid LOUISVILLE at all costs....I just moved from 30 miles west of Louisville last year been in the mess when 1 of the bridges was down for a few hours.

I64 bridge is closed for at least 6 months putting all the Louisville traffic on I65 those in Indiana that needs to go to Louisville has to use I65 too

From where I lived in Corydon IN an was going to FL we went down Hwy 135 to Brandenburg KY sorry I know the way just not names of the State Hwys in Ky we'd pick I65 up just north of Elizabethtown KY...it was faster for us to do that an less traffic than it was for us to go east to Louisville Ky then south on I65 to Elizabethtown.

If you are even considering Louisville, do not go through during rush hour due to the bridge issue. I also would avoid Nashville rush hour like the plague. There is construction in KY all the way from mm 91 down into the 40s with periodic lane closures and up to 30 mile backups. 2 times this summer we had long waits, 2 times we zipped through.

Not sure why 65/74/275/75 isn't an option-I live 200 miles from Indianpolis either taking 64/65 or 75/275/74 and take the 75/74 option all the time. I'm not sure how it can be many more miles since 74 angles SE.

According to Google maps, it's an extra 40 miles (taking 74 to 75). I wouldn't take the chance of Louisville with that short of difference. I agree if it was a 3-4 hour "detour", I'd take my chances with 65, but that's not the case.

DD just drove through and she knew the bridge deal....you have to get through Louisville before rush hours, same with Nashville all the way until your on I-24 for a few miles then your safe. She said Atlanta same rush hour times but they are doing lots of construction at night (midnight and on). We are staying in Kennesaw GA and leaving hotel by 9:00am which should put us through 10am -10:30 or so, then we'll stay in Valdosta and finish up Monday to DISNEY. I think Louisville is a tight squeeze for just a little bit, but Nashville can go on...and on...and on....We have gotten out of our car in horrible traffic and sat on the hood and made friends with other drivers(we had a cooler full of drinks and snacks for our trip) bless their hearts they tried to give us money and we said no and when we got back in the car two 20 dollar bills were in my seat. Southern Hospitality:)

Is there a particular reason to stay in Valdosta? If you leave Kennesaw at 9AM, you should be at Disney ~6pm.
