They announced this am that I-285 The Perimeter around Atlanta will have severe delays and backup this weekend due to construction. DO NOT GET ONTO I-285 this weekend, go straight through Town. I-85 and I-75 South Merge together just before you reach Downtown Atlanta. Good traveling to those going this weekend:sunny: .

They are not kidding. I live off of I-285 and saw the delays last weekend. They were horrid!

Helping to keep this bumped up.

Is there only one portion of 285 where road work is being done, or is the entire Perimeter affected?

It's everywhere!

Press release info

ATLANTA – Multiple construction projects on Interstate 285 will almost certainly result in extraordinarily long traffic delays throughout the weekend, the Georgia Department of Transportation warned today. Motorists are urged to avoid any travel on the roadway if at all possible.
Multiple I-285 lane closures on all four sides of Atlanta will be in place from Friday night through early Monday morning. Additional work on Interstates 85 and 20, as well as Georgia State Route 400, will further complicate weekend driving.
Areas of extreme congestion may include:
 I-285 eastbound and westbound in Fulton and DeKalb counties, expect extreme congestion from y from Glenwood Rd to Northlake Pkwy, from Ashford Dunwoody Rd to GA 400 and from Peachtree Industrial Blvd to Buford Highway.
 I-285 westbound in Clayton/Fulton counties from Clark Howell Hwy to Riverdale Road,
 I-285 northbound in Fulton and Cobb counties from Langford Parkway to South Cobb Drive
 Holcomb Bridge Road eastbound and westbound at GA 400
 I-20 eastbound in Cobb and Fulton counties from the Chattahoochee River to MLK Jr. Drive overpass

Yes it will be all around the Perimeter. Thanks for posting the official word.

Remeber there are express lanes on 75 and 85 for vehicles with more than 1 occupant so if you have 2 or more in your car you can use these all the way through Atlanta. Hope everyone has a safe trip. :sunny:

I live on South Cobb Drive and last weekend I had to take the sitter home, she lives a few exits up 75. My exit was closed and so were the next 3, I ended up having to get on 20 and I made a 15 min trip last 40 min. And it was midnight too :confused3
