Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows of a site that could give me a list of exits along I-10 in MS, AL and FL. I'm looking for fast food spots, campgrounds and hotels. We are driving from LA and may want to leave one afternoon and spend the night along the way. Don't know if it would be easier to get a hotel or find campground. HOtel would probably be easier than pulling out slides, hooking up etc.
Any suggestions??
Thanks,
Jean

I would suggest you get a copy of "The Next Exit". I picked one up at a truck stop. It has a list of services available at all interstate exits and is updated annually.

There's also an online subscription ($14.95). I don't subscribe but that may be an option for some. Here it is:

Edit: I think with the online, you also get the book (if I'm reading it right).

Edit Again:  Actually, that may be in addition to the book, after reading the agreement, sounds like it's only updates.

We always leave the day before we are scheduled to arrive at Disney. We travel to Madison, FL (about 1 hour east of Tallahassee). This is the halfway point for us. We stay at the Jellystone Campground in Madison. Very clean, nice staff, pet friendly, and easy to get to. :goodvibes

We get up the next morning, have breakfast and arrive at Ft. Wilderness right at check-in time!:thumbsup2

Happy Camping!

We travel from Brusly, Louisiana. We leave after work and stop at Milton, Fl which is past Pensacola. There is a KOA next to the Interstate. They have pull-thru sites large enough to leave your truck and trailer connected. It's very nice. The only "bad" thing is the price. Seems like it was $35 or so which is really pricey when you are just pulling in a 9 pm and leaving at 6 am. I wish we could find a cheap, clean, no-frills campground next to I-10 specially designed for pulling in, spending the night, and leaving. Seems like there would be a big demand for that type. I have found that our Trailer Life Campground book and the Next Exit can be rather misleading. Although, I love Next Exit to let us know where rig-friendly diesel stations are!

Maybe someone will else will share where they have stayed that might be less than $20/night.

The best travel book investment you could make. It is fantastic; especially for those with some type of RV. It not only tells you what's at the next exit, it tells which ones are RV accessible. :thumbsup2

I think you would do better to pull into a Wally World than to pay $35.00. That's outrageous  There is a state park called Falling Waters State Park. It is close to I-10 between Crestview and Tallahassee. The great thing is it's only $15.00 a night year round.

I have found this site helpful: http://www.floridastategasprices.com/. I know it is just for Florida but it will link you to other states also. The great thing about this site is it has a map feature that will shows you the exit number and the name of the gas station along with the price. Where there is many gas stations there is usally other places. Hope this is helpful.

I have stayed at several campgrounds along the way and have found most of them nice...most are about 25-30 a night..much cheaper than a hotel...if you want free..go to a walmart or truckstop...do not go to a state rest area....I have heard of so many crimes commited in rest stops over the last few years!!!!!!!! go to a place that is well lit and well traveled...I travel solo a lot and would NEVER stop at a rest stop....

I agree with djblu883, do NOT stay in a rest area - they're scary enough during the day. :scared1: Falling Waters is south of Chipley, FL (about an hour east of Tallahassee) and is nice but is several miles from the I-10. If you want a campsite near the Interstate, I definitely recommend either the KOA near Milton or Jellystone near Madison. I've not stayed at the KOA, but have traveled by there many times - it's clean, well kept, and seems pretty busy. Jellystone near Madison is our favorite lay-over stop. :goodvibes I guess it just depends on how far you want to travel that first day.

$35.00 or so doesn't seem that much to me to be in a safe, clean campground.:confused3
