I’m stuck on Carousel of Progress

I grew up going to Disneyland and rode this when I was young. Then they moved it to WDW. When my parents visited us after I was married, we took them to WDW. My Dad was thrilled to be able to go on CoP again. I will always love it because it was his favorite, so I think of him whenever I do CoP.

if I remember correctly there are places within that ride that would put you back stage and not able to get back into park, not sure I would try that without a CM with me as it could get you put out of park

There are definitely entrances that put you backstage. We had to exit through one when the ride broke down a few years ago. It was pretty rough back there, kind of like a back alley, and i don't think you could get out of there without a CM present. After that experience, i would not just get up and use an emergency exit without somehow notifying a CM.

I can't remember which scene we were in, other than that it was one of the middle ones. It repeated 3 times and then the entire place went dark. Kids started crying so we used the flashlight apps on our phones for light until the CMs came to get us, and then they led us through the backstage area and back into the park. It was an experience. But i still love the ride and go on it every visit.

And this is why I don't do the Carousel of Progress anymore. We were stuck for over 45 minutes, the dog was leaking oil everywhere, and they wouldn't let us use the emergency exits. I was basically the guy about to have a panic attack, so no more Progress for me!

COP is so corny.....but yet so clever. I wish they could keep the original scenes but have room to do another 2 more recent years/decade scenes added on......
