Well, Bad Pink Tink‘s recent trip report convinced me…it is time to return to the place I love! If you don’t know about her, she comes from Ireland every year on a solo trip. Her trip reports are ver thorough and she talks about all aspects of traveling. So, on my birthday last week, when anyone asked whatI was going to do,I told them I was going to Disneyland. I wore my spirit jersey and watched a bunch of ride videos. Then I discovered I had travel funds that needed to be used on SW. Then, I looked at dates…both at hotels and the park. I looked at blackout dates for all the Magic Keys. THEN…I did it! I’m going July 2-3…all by myself!

I’m very excited, as I usually go with my BFF at Christmas. But it doesn‘t matter how close you are with someone, be it a BFF, spouse, partner, kids…there are always compromises. This time, I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want for however long I want! I’ve never done this before! I’m just thrilled. Plan to spend first day at CA, most likely at Avengers for a big part of the day. Sunday at DL and hopefully will run into some DIS‘ers (at Peter Pan, of course).

Staying close by, but not onsite…too rich for my blood. I just need to be able to take a short nap in heat of day before going to park til close.

Will have DAS plus Genie+ but I just really want to do a few new rides and some old faves that I don’t do when with someone else, usually because it’s something they don’t like. Not a foodie so that’s not a big thing.

So, if anyone was at the parks last 4th of July weekend, please share your thoughts on crowd, etc.
And in case you couldn’t tell…I‘M EXCITED!

I've never been on 4th of July week, so I can't answer that, but... Awesome! You will absolutely LOVE a solo Disney trip! As nice as it can be to share it with people you love, it's really great to not have to compromise a THING. Ride what you want, see what you want, eat wherever you want, rest when you want, and on and on. Hope you have an incredible time!

YES! I have been struggling for years to put into words why exactly I enjoy solo Disney trips and you nailed it. No compromises 🤯 Do what you want, skip what you want, eat what you want. It’s incredibly freeing. Yes I like going with friends and family too, but the experience solo is different because I’m not worried about anyone else’s needs/wants/must-dos.

I can hear your excitement & I hope you have an AWESOME time!!

P. S. One unsolicited tip, consider downloading an ebook to your smartphone for lines & dining. I love TS meal breaks but quickly discovered I needed something to occupy myself that wasn’t email/news/social media as those distractions took me out of vacay mode.

654663 Congratulations on your SOLO trip! 654664

Since the grandkids are grown and busy with their lives, I had been going solo a few times a year prior to covid. Post-Covid I have had one solo trip the first of Feb. It was great being able to get back into the parks. I liked being able to do just "My Thing" for three days.

Right now I am helping my DGD-24 plan her first solo trip in October.

Have fun planning and on the trip.

So glad to hear there are others like me! That’s a great idea about ebook! Though it’ll have to be something I don’t get TOO engrossed by…I’ll get busy reading and not pay attention to attractions!

Yay!!! So happy for you! I just did my first solo trip over President's Week and it was amazing! It's pretty incredible to just be able to do whatever you want, whenever you want, the entire time. I found that by myself, I actually went at a slower pace than normal and really just enjoyed taking it all in more than usual. I didn't stress about missing anything, I got to repeat the things I like most, and I just kind of went wherever I felt like going on a whim. It was great.

I second the ebook suggestion. I read a novel on my phone's Kindle app in some lines and while eating some meals, and it was really enjoyable for me.

I wasn't at the parks around July 4th last year but I have gone on July 4th before the pandemic. The morning of July 4th had relatively light crowds but a couple hours before fireworks, Main Street was packed. California Adventure had light crowds after fireworks.

Other days that week were busy but I didn't feel like it was too crazy for the summer. Things may be different now due to the reservation system.

Solo trips are my lifeblood and I love them so much.

I always make new friends in line and find myself less distracted and immersed , like no one cares if I twirl like a princess down main street or if I get silly or emotional randomly.
No clue about the crowd dates unfortunately but honestly I've gone many times during busy seasons and always find a way to make it a special trip.
