Hyphenated Name problem

I've just been on VA website to request our seats for next summer :) but have noticed that my hyphenated Christian name has been merged into one long name without the hyphen. When I've flown before the airline has just dropped the second half of the name when issuing tickets. Do you think I'll be OK with the merged name or should I change it to two separate names on the booking?

I have a double barrelled surname,so it has a hyphen in between. When i log in to VA or VH it automatically removes the hyphen so mine also merges.I have'nt had a problem, but now you have me thinking the same thing  .x.

I've got a double barrel surname too and virgin always take the hyphen out, so do BA, don't worry it's normal practise for airlines to do this.
When I noticed back last year I was worried they wouldn't let me on the plane!! so I called them and they said that the system doesn't recognise the hyphen.

Thanks for the relplies - I'll just leave it. (VA system couldn't cope with my son being a master last time we travelled but I don't remember it having problems with me.)

Libby - I too have a double barrelled first name and it is always joined up. It has never caused me any problems and I've flown regularly - so don't worry! :thumbsup2

the only problem that can occur is if you're a frequent flyer member getting points from a partner airline...
given that's not the situation here, it shouldn't matter..(i also have a hyphenated first name)...

Thanks, both of you, for more reassurance.

I wish my parents had forseen the problems of giving me this name, right from schooldays when the teachers got upset that I'd given them two names when they asked for my first name, to forms that don't have enough spaces to include my middle name as well as both parts of my first, to this confusion. I never use my full name now, except on official forms (only my father still call me by my full name). My children have short first and middle names (and probably hate me for that!)

I know what you mean by 'problems' with your name.I have a long name Michelle **** **** ****-****,2 middle names+the last 2 being my double barrel surname. There's never enough lines, boxes, spaces to fit it in.My children also have long names with 4 long. There going to love me when they realise how much a pain it is.x.
