I always wondered how kids in the same family (same gene pool) could have such a variety in something like height. :confused3

Did she hit puberty early? I think I read somewhere about girls who have some sort of pituitary problem and hit puberty super early (like at 7), they treat them with hormones or something to hold off puberty, because it can affect their growth.

My DSis had this huge growth spurt around 8yo and was taller than me (I'm almost 2 years older), then hit puberty at 9, and basically didn't grow anymore. I had a more typical ("average") puberty at age 12, so had a few more years to grow than she did.

No. My sisters dad was really short, and my mom is fairly short. Shorter then I am anyways. But MY dad was really tall. Like 6'4" or something.

We both hit puberty at about the same age I think. In fact, she might have been a bit older then I was when she did. I was 9... She might have been 10 or 11.

ONLY 5'10" ?????? No, I am 5'8".. Dh is around 6'1"... Alex's dad was like 6'5" though. So I think once he hits his teen years, and starts growing... he will be taller then me for sure. Most likely taller then dh.
I don't understand why, but the height calculators (which I know can be terribly inaccurate) where you plug in your child's current height, your height and father's height said our boys will be in the 6' range. I think 6' for DS7 and like 6'2" for DS4. My brothers are both around 6', and even though my dad's only 5'8", his brothers were all taller. DH's father is also only 5'8", but I believe his brothers were both taller. :confused3

J is taller than both of us now.

E and I are short people, my family is short to average, his sibs and mom are average.. E's grandfather was over 6 ft tall-- apparently J got more of those genes.

Darn Amazons... :rotfl:

I get it from my dad.. He is tall.. My uncle is REALLY TALL. Like absurdly, basketball player tall. Oddly enough, their younger sister... 5'1" CRAZY!!!

Dang, I'm getting hungry! I"m gonna run to the kitchen to forage for food. I'll join you in a minute from the laptop downstairs... :)

Okay... I just looked at one of those, and it said that Alex was only going to be 5'10" and Mikalah will be 5'8". So I dont think I trust that much.

Speaking of getting second looks when out with kidlets..

J is very light colored, he took after me just not as pinky toned.
Hubby gets medium brown in the summer.

Well we had J in sports classes -- mind you this is suburbia land 10 years ago when there wasn't much of a racial mix.. and we are young parents at the time.. anyway..

He had other parents look.. look again.. look and stare.
Then one asked if he was babysitting J, umm NO he's my son.

I got the odd looks pushing N around in stroller when he was a babe. But I think people are more polite -- more accepting?? of moms with different skin toned children. Curious glance and nothing said.

I did my cleaning and other chores to get ready for inlaw invasion yesterday.

Had my laundry-- got it done right away this morning.

and now?

I have NOTHING to do! Forgot to buy tape.. can't make another box. Bed is made up for MIL and SIL-- don't have the spare beds inside.. forgot them in the car.

Weird not to have something that needs to get done.

Hmmm... I dont have anything to either. I got it all done yesterday. I think. ;) We are preparing for an exciting weekend.

Wait. I thought the inlaws were coming in NEXT weekend?

We got a bit of that with DS7. DH and I used to wonder what our kids would turn out looking like, with dads with black hair and dark skin, and blond and blue-eyed moms. DH's skin is darker than mine, but he's got medium brown hair; my hair was blond when I was young, but more of a light brown now.

DS7 was born with very dark hair and dark skin. One nurse gave me an odd look when she came into our room, just sort of a surprised double-take, and then DH walked in. She said, "Ohhhh" knowingly, and explained that she'd thought for a minute that a baby had gotten mixed up.

It was funny at the time, but I was also kind of annoyed, wondering, "Are you serious? In this day and age? What rock have you been living under???" :headache:

When Alex was born... He was dead white. I about crapped my pants thinking I had done something that I had.... Forgotten. ;) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: APPARENTLY, the color doesnt come until they are older. Who knew?? Not me.

I was surprised, too. I was watching a lot of these birthing shows from the TLC station at the time, and the African American couple's child came out very pale, and the very white parents had a very ruddy skinned baby. :confused3

I know! Its crazy, isnt it?

OMG, we need to eat up a bunch of bananas, so I grabbed one. I'm eating it now, and watching Juno, which is my replacement video from Blockbuster. And which is probably overdue. So I'm watching it. And there's a sex-ed scene using a banana... Ewww... :worried:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I love that movie! It is so funny... But so sad.

OMG, their reaction to the father:
"Paulie Bleaker? I didn't think he had it in him..." Too funny!!! :lmao:

OMG! "I was hoping she was expelled or into hard drugs."
"Yeah, me too. Or a DWI..."

:rotfl2:
