Halleluia!!!! My hydrangeas are blooming in full force. Beautiful clusters of sky blue flowers everywhere!

I'm really a hydrangea kind of girl!

Anything interesting going on in your garden this beautiful morning?????

Wish I could see them! They sound heavenly. :)

Not sure what is happening in my garden this morning. Just putting my shoes on to go feed horses and to do a quick walk through in the garden. Opened up this thread to read while putting my shoes on! I will probably report back later on what is happening in my little garden.

I went to a nursery sale this morning and got 5 grasses (I know! Just slap me!), a weigelia (SP?), 3 wisteria, and 14 new perennials. I have no idea where I am going to put it all.

Oh, I wanna plant some. Picking the right spot is the trick though. DH has a co-worker who's big into the Hydrangea society, so maybe I have a keen eye to help me.

As for my garden, stargazers are getting ready to open and there will be pictures..:)

No hydrangeas for me ---:(

I have two miniature -- "peewee" I think they are called. We had such a cool spring and early summer that I think they're confused.

My hostas, on the other, look great!!:) All of them are erupting with beautiful spiked blue flowers!

Time to get a digital camera Gina! :D

I haven't been out yet today (still drinking the java!), but my coreopsis and bee balm are ready to bloom any day now, maybe today!! :D

Thank you for the link Olena!! :)

Help!!! I never did the gardening thread but I do have a question. I am looking for a tree that will grow about 10 feet high, and stays fairly compact. I want to use it as a centerpiece for the circle that people have often on one side of their front yard. We live in zone 5. Would be nice if it flowered for a short time. Can anyone help me? Also, are there any Japanese maples that are around that same height? thanks!

hi jabrown40! Welcome to the garden and flower board!

There are many varieties of semi dwarf flowering trees that might work for your situation. Flowering crabapples are one of my personal favorites.

You asked if Japanese Maples are available in this size range. I did a search and found that you can find many varieties ranging from dwarf to semi dwarf and standards. Here is a link that might prove useful:

Yikes, I didn't mean to put this in the hydrangea thread! But thank you very much, this was a great help. I also did a search a couple of times, but didn't click on this one. It was very helpful, thank you again!
