Three part question:

1. Any thoughts on Hyatt Regency Mission Bay? Will be in San Diego for 4 days for a wedding. We'll have two days to do what we want, and I thought this had a nice pool complex. Thinking of spending the other day at the zoo and our last day at the beach, which looks like its in walking distance? Anything else in walking distance such as the Gaslamp area, shopping, etc?

2. Is Sea World San Diego worth it? We've never been and thought the Zoo would be better. Not opposed to doing both, but it means we'd have to give up our beach day. It appears to be very close to the Hyatt.

3. How's the trolley system in San Diego? Is it easy to navigate and is there a stop near the Hyatt? We'll have a rental car but would like to avoid using it whenever possible.

Thanks all!

1. Living in San Diego, I have never stayed at the Hyatt, but they are usually a fairly decent hotel. It looks like your hotel does not provide shuttle service, and with that it would be quicker to drive. Driving also gives you flexibility. For example, if you are going to the Zoo, it is about a 15 or 20 minute drive depending on Traffic. To get to the Zoo using public transportation, you would walk to the bus stop, take 20 -30 minutes yo get to Old Town and transfer to either another bus or the trolley (and then yo another bus downtown to the Zoo), then have to repeat the steps yo get back the hotel, with tired kids. There are beach areas that are fairly close to the hotel, but I would not consider it yo be walking distance.

2. Sea World San Diego is nice. I love the food at Shipwreck Rapids Cafe and the a Pets Rules show, but it is fairly close to the other Sea World parks, so if you have been to the other Sea Worlds, you may or may not want to do it.

3. Trolley stop is a 20-30 minute bus ride from the hotel. Would be quicker to drive.

We stayed at this hotel a few years back and would stay there again. The location is very nice. They had a water shuttle that took us from the Hotel to Sea World and the kids thought that was way cool.:cool1: Seems like we had room service that was also good.

Haven't done the zoo.

OP we looked at staying there but went for the Hyatt downtown several times. They have a good pool on the 4th floor, you can walk to the Gaslamp and a stop on the trolley system is right outside.
However we didn't have a car (used the Old TownTrolley tour or taxi/public transit to go to the Zoo and other areas. )
Never been to Sea World SD but had been to Orlando so we went for the zoo. Glad we did.
We were two adults so if you are traveling with children the pool complex at Mission Bay may be better.
