:) Got a great deal via priceline.com for those who want to stay in Orlando before or after cruise. 3-Star Hyatt - bid $40 and got it (plus 5.95 for priceline's cut). AAA lists at $180. We'll be there in March before the 3/9 Magic cruise.

Is that the Hyatt in the airport or a different one in the Orlando area?
Isn't Priceline great?! We got the airport Renaissance for $28 for one of our upoming cruises...website lists cheapest rooms at $144.

This Hyatt is in Kissimmee, near WDW. We are planning to do Magic Kingdom the day before and maybe Universal the day after the cruise. We bid the $40 on priceline for a 3-star hotel and got the same hotel both times. We are renting a car from Avis at the airport. Your Raddisson deal sounds great! Next time we will bid lower!:)

HOW DO YOU USE PRICELINE???

I know it's a stupid question but how do you actually bid?
And do you definately have to take it if your bid is accepted?

Yes, you do have to take it if your bid is accepted!! No cancellations...that is the "catch" to getting such great deals.
Basically, you pick the area you want (you can pick up to 3, but I stick to the Orlando airport area), the number of "stars" hotel you are willing to accept (your choice is the minimum level...often you get upgraded), and the price you are willing to pay. I bid VERY low and I ignore the warning that says I should bid more to have a better chance of being accepted. Even with the warning, I have still gotten a room at my price. You can only bid once every 48 hours, but you can circumvent this by using a different charge card.

Not to disappoint you, but we stayed at the Hyatt Orlando last November. I have stayed in better Motel 6's.

Our room looked out at the garbage dump and loading dock. Don't worry about a wake up call - at 5 AM garbage trucks and delivery trucks would be lined up idling beneath our window, waiting for a turn, filling the air with exhaust and noise. It would go on all day, but was most intense in early AM. The dump was not pretty, and no attempt was made to hide the dumpsters and overflowing garbage.

If you get a room overlloking the pool it will not be so bad. Insist on a pool view. HOwever, there is not enough parking for the rooms. There were only 6 spots for each 12 rooms, so you may have to search for parking and be far away from your room.

I had always had a high opinion of Hyatt, but no more. I don't see why Hyatt allows its name to be on the place. The rooms are worth about $49 a night, so you got a good deal. But don't expect luxury.

Thanks for letting us know not to expect too much! We were really just looking for a hotel where we felt safe that was inexpensive and near magic kingdom. We have been in some really nice hotels thru priceline in the past - I guess you just have to be sure not to bid too high!;)

The rooms are not bad - clean and in good repair. Typical motel style with the sink outside the bathroom. Since you will be at the parks all day, they should be fine. It is just not the usual Hyatt "luxury."

The rooms are all located in two story concrete block buildings, painted pastel colors, with 24 rooms in each building (6 on each side of the hall on each of 2 floors.) Each room has a sliding glass door either to a small balcony (no room for chairs) or directly to the parking lot or courtyard. The stairs are at the end of each unit, outdoors. The doors to the halls are not locked. There is no elevator. There are 6 or 8 buildings in sort of a circle around a courtyard with a pool in the courtyard and the parking lot on the other side of each building. Some of the buildings are quite a distance from the check in area/lobby, which is in a separte building.

There is a charge of $6 per person for transportation to the parks, so driving is a good bet. It is not a bad drive.

Thanks for the info, slindamood. I called Hyatt and asked for a pool view - we'll see if we get it! We are planning on a late check in after doing Magic Kingdom; in the AM we are just checking out and maybe sightseeing a little before getting to Port Can. Our boys are early risers! It is so nice to know what to expect. These boards are great! :)

I wouldn't mind doing Priceline.com but I need a Orlando Airport with free shuttle to the hotel from the airport. From there we will take TTC to Port Canaveral. Is there a way to specify your needs on Priceline???

While you cannot specify your needs, you can stack the odds in your favor. We have taken to doing the same thing, either via Priceline or Hotwire, and we are careful to specify an airport hotel. When you do that, the odds are good that you will get one with a shuttle, particularly if you pick "2 star or better" on Priceline or one with decent amenities on Hotwire. We've gotten the Amerisuites via Hotwire and the Renaissance through Priceline. It's really convenient to take the shuttle there, and then we have Happy Limo pick us up early so we can get to the port bright & early.

I did priceline for my 3/2 cruise as we're driving down to FL. Staying the night before the cruise I couldn't find anything cheap, so I thought I'd try priceline.

Got 2 rooms, $50 each, plus tax and one $5.95 priceline fee. Good deal.

Good luck to all!

With Barb and Daves advice I uses Hotwire and Priceline before my 1-26 cruise I never got a better deal then what i had booked but it was fun to try . Here is a site that explaines alot about bidding .Check it out before you bid .
